If they bid and we rejected it, do you think he'd try and force it through/ hand in a transfer request to get his dream move?
-
Do you think he is going to Villa?
-
I'm totally with you - if it was a top team then you can accept it, but selling to Villa would be ludicrous. Despite the crowing on here by some, take Grealish out of that team and they are bang average (as was shown towards the end of last season when he was injured). They've spent an obscene amount of money (£230m) just to finish 17th and 11th. I really can't see it happening. If it does then you do have to question what the club are doing.
-
Has he gone yet then? All I've seen so far is one-sided newspaper stories saying Villa want him. There's not been many players that have been sold/left in recent years that we didn't want to go (mainly because we've been utter crap) - of the one's that have, the contract situation has played a part (thinking PEH last year, Bertrand this summer - probably Ings and Vestergaard this summer too. Going further back, Clyne and Wanyama had 1 year left, Mane had two) - JWP has 4 years left on his contract, so we're not in the same position. I really can't see him going to Villa.
-
Again, when have we not spent all of the money received on players and re-invested? If you look back at our transfer business since Gao turned up, money we've received has been re-invested and spent on players. He doesn't put anything in, but he also doesn't take anything out. The problem has been we had a couple of years of buying complete sh*t, which screwed us.

£10-15m is much more realistic with his contract situation than the £25m the Venky's wanted. Think he'd be quite a snip at that price. I can only see us signing him though if Ings leaves, so if that progresses I'd expect Ings to be off at the same time. Thanks for posting these SuperSaint btw, always nice to see that you've posted in here as it's usually something interesting 👍

Sounds like he’s off to France - Nice and Monaco both interested. It’s a tough one - Bevois Valley or the French Riviera? Tough choice for the lad.
-
Absolutely - think he’d fit into a 10 role nicely here
-
Denmark needed that start - hopefully they can put events behind them now.
-
Sorry, jumped the.... Gunn... there (I'll get my coat)
-
The last African forward we bought in from Salzburg didnt do too badly though.. 😉
-
Would be a good signing for them - the sort we could have been making if we had got our business right over the last few seasons like Leicester have. Wonder where that leaves them with Edouard? Can't see them signing him as well as Daka, with Ihenacho, Perez and Vardy still around too. Maybe we still have a chance there?
-
Blimey, didn't expect this so soon into the window. Great news, good riddance - terrible attitude and just all round waste of a shirt. Hoedt, Gunn, Sims, Hesketh and Bertrand gone - hoping the likes of Long, Lemina, N'Lundulu, Moi, Obafemi and one of Forster/McCarthy to follow. If we manage that, must be pushing £500k a week in wages off the books?
-
Classic Arsenal, being linked everyday with someone new. Reality is they won't sign any of them. Must be season ticket renewal time.
-
Totally agree with you - not good enough. Shipping Long, Obafemi and Nlundulu and signing another striker would be great (we can dream).
-
That genuinely staggered me - had to look it up. But guess that averages at 40m a season, so not crazy. They also had a very small net spend last year, so will be interesting to see if that continues in the current landscape. Fair to say there’s quite a lot of wasted money in there. £202m to improve 0% is a lot of money.
-
Still have Obafemi too…
-
Imagine it will be the buying teams media saying £15m plus add-ons, Blackmore and Co saying £25m plus, truth probably somewhere in the middle. These opposing figures will then be dragged out and used in arguments by the usual suspects on here to suit their particular agenda. Rinse and repeat.
-
No-one is paying that. If they do, then we can ask for £40m for Ings minimum
-
Is there optimism? Must have missed that.
-
Don't think it would have mattered what the fixtures looked like, after the end of the season we had any fixture looks tough at the moment. On the flip side, if we do somehow banish the Goodison / opening day hoodoo, the fixtures will be viewed differently.

That last goal looked offside to me? Nothing to do with me having Portugal to win 2-0…
