Saints 3 - Arsenal 2 - I should start threads more often
bpsaint replied to Secret Site Agent's topic in The Saints
What a result - the difference in the team was visible already, playing the high press and getting crosses into the box quicker. Still need to cut out those individual errors, and Romeu just is not very good, look forward to seeing Lemina back in the hole. -
He might be a nice bloke but Yoshida was only ever good enough to be third place centre back behind Fonte, Lovren, Toby and vVD in recent years. The fact he is now considered to be our best CB at the moment is part of the reason we are in the position we are, diluting a strong squad with average replacements. Cabbage is right when he says his loyalty only extends as far as the size of the team that come in for him, I’m sure if United decided they need to flog more shirts in Japan and made an offer he’d be off like a shot regardles of how much game time he is likely to get. I’m not sure any of our current CB’s are in Ralphs plans come January, he’s no fool and I’m sure has been promised a transfer kitty of some kind for the Transfer Window. We wouldn’t get a manager so highly regarded without promising him funds surely.

I only remember it really because it was my only trip to Ninian Park. Absolutely lashed it down before, during and after the game, and I missed their winner dashing back to the car as I had to be back in Southampton by 7pm. Proper ****hole ground and surroundings. i think our goal was really well worked from what I remember - thought our young team might go on to surprise a few people that year, WRONG!!
-
Luckily we lost that game 2-1 to a scrappy late goal, not 1-0, so the superstitious amongst us can breathe a sigh of relief!!
-
Good to see that from Chaz there, he might be a bit of a ****, but he’s our ****, and his experience is good to have in the squad.
-
Living a charmed life at the back, a better team would have put us to the sword by now.

J-Rod caused controversy last night with “The Hand of Rod” , didn’t seem to know much about it but as I can’t stand Villa and still love J-Rod it’s pretty hilarious https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=4UE029KwbpA

I really hope, more than ever, that the club get it right this time. Our fan base has never seemed so despondent and apathetic, we were on the cusp of greatness and have been dealt a pile of ****e ever since.
-
Really wanted, and hoped, it would would work out with Hughes. Knew the league, knew the club, thought given how he managed to keep us up that we'd have a solid season but its clear it wasn't working. I have no faith in the club to hire a decent replacement, particularly with the DOF situation and the fact the owner doesn't know a thing about football. The decision should have been made at least a month ago when we still had a realistic chance at getting some good points on the board before this tough run.
-
Would be really good to play a minnow at home - so Pompey please Not worried about facing them even on current form, reminds me of when we were flying in League One and they still beat us despite being dog****.
-
Either a 3 or 4 nil loss with United barely breaking a sweat. Hopefully this will be the final straw and Hughes is out the door but can’t say I’m optimistic of that.
-
He’ll be replaying that over and over in his head shocking miss!!!
-
Anyone found a stream with commentary - weird only hearing the stadium noise
-
Is it that strange? I’d say the way Fonte was clearly being blocked from playing in our Europa League campaign suggests truth isn’t stranger than fiction.

There’s a cracking podcast that’s come out today guys featuring Brett Ormerod - search Under The Cosh on the podcast store. Some enlightening stories from the Redknapp days that’s worth a listen.

Unfortunately those of us that would have been behind a protest have either been priced out of the game, or are far too apathetic from the dross served up each week that match day is now just a case of going through the motions. St Mary’s is now largely full of ‘customers’ happy to take in the Premier League brand and will disappear once we get relegated. Perhaps only then with cheaper tickets will the hardcore return, and the young male demographic will bring the St Mary’s atmosphere back from the sterile experience of the present.
-
“Sounds ‘triffic Mr Gao , I’ll see you Monday morning” Now that’s a nightmare scenario.
-
My first league game back at St Mary’s since giving up my ST after the Puel season, won’t be rushing back. Drab football, **** atmosphere, handing out clappers for **** sake. Who the **** would want to buy a half and half scarf of that rubbish, roll on the championship. We are staring relegation in the face and I don’t see a saviour on the horizon.
-
Newcastle looking for their first win of the season, Us with our shocking home form - doesn’t bode well at all!!! Anything less than a win and it’s Hughes out for me I’m afraid. We’ve already dropped points against very poor Leicester, Burnley and Brighton sides, we just can’t let that happen against the bottom placed team.
-
As far as ‘team’ goals go nobody does it like Arsenal, their second and third were class
-
Noticed have many empty seats there were whilst watching the stream, can’t imagine the attendance was that far off the one announced. Curious to know if they count the season tickets holders despite whether or not they’ve turned up, or can they tell from the turnstiles scanners how many people actually turned up compared to tickets sold.

Maybe we need relegation like we needed administration...

I remember all the claims last time we got relegated that it would be good for the club, clear out all the deadwood, rebuild etc etc. The reality is we very nearly ended up going pop and it’s only thanks to Markus and Nicola we are where we are. Relegation would be a disaster once more, don’t kid ourselves that it would be a good thing. -
i have no confidence in this Saints team to beat any side in the league, no matter how crap they are. Cardiff, Hudds, Newcastle- I reckon they’d all get something from us.
-
They do yeah, as well as PPV events too. I gave them a go as I can stream through my Apple TV and it’s been top class so far
