saints_is_the_south Posted 30 June, 2009 Share Posted 30 June, 2009 The Swiss? Some mystery foreign group? Anybody know how far down the road the Swiss got with Fry? Were they waiting to see whether Pinnacle fell through or not & now have their own bid ready? Lets face it if this miracle of keeping SFC alive is going to happen these questions need answering now by somebody, preferably Mark Fry. We have 73 hours til close of play on Friday when Fry will probably have to start winding the club up, if he doesn't start doing it before then that is. Whoever is still interested they need to get the f*ck on with it, there is no time to waste & i still can't bear to think about not having Saints in my life. Son of Bob Posted 30 June, 2009 Share Posted 30 June, 2009 I have to be honest, who is going to come in now and expect to wrap up a deal in 72 hours. No, ladies and gents, I would say we are royally fooked...
The9 Posted 30 June, 2009 Share Posted 30 June, 2009 Did someone not say the Swiss wouldn't continue due to the timescale? No, Jackson said his lot wouldn't. They were Israeli, allegedly. From what Fry said on Friday there were Pinnacle, Swiss (I have assumed they are the "bid from abroad", in which case he's been talking to them at the start of this week) and possibly 2 other interested parties - both of which I'd assume were well behind regarding timescales, and one of which might have been Jackson's "bid". So we're left with maybe the Swiss depending on the discussions with Fry at the start of the week, and maybe one other (Salz?).
JustMike Posted 30 June, 2009 Share Posted 30 June, 2009 whoever is left still has to obey to what the FL (fookers) say! I do not understand for the life of me why they do not support one of their members! If this were to happen to a prem side i bet the FA wouldnt take the same approach. Give it to Ron Posted 30 June, 2009 Share Posted 30 June, 2009 Did someone not say the Swiss wouldn't continue due to the timescale? That was in the MJ consortium excuse list. Not a word has been mentioned about the Swiss since apparently they said they would be back yesterday lunch if interested.....as nothing heard suggest they have gone back to Zurich. We are left with Saints fans bailing us out or nothing and I don't believe Salz and co are interested enough.
The9 Posted 30 June, 2009 Share Posted 30 June, 2009 I have to be honest, who is going to come in now and expect to wrap up a deal in 72 hours. No, ladies and gents, I would say we are royally fooked... Yeah, but Fry announced he'd been talking to others in his statement on Friday - and since at the very least last week. If he's been doing his job properly (no comment required) Pinnacle's exclusivity ended on June 19th and he'd have been talking to others since then, so there could be 11 days' worth of discussions under his belt already. Also, Fry's stated the contracts are in place so the onus is on the bidder to prove funds (I think that's what he was waiting for from the "abroad" offer at the start of this week). If he doesn't say anything prior to Friday I'd say we're screwed though, cos Friday is the "discuss with directors" option that I've assumed will result in "wind up club". Gordon Mockles Posted 30 June, 2009 Share Posted 30 June, 2009 I'd heard Hoddle had been working on a bid with backers from Dubai for the past 6 months?! 20 Million investment BUT, we've all heard this sort of sh*t before so doubt much will happen. Or, maybe it did...and they got the wrong directions and ended up with the Skates!

Scummer Posted 30 June, 2009 Share Posted 30 June, 2009 I still believe no group will takeover because of the liklihood of -25 points. I agree. Who is going to want to buy a club with that sort of punishment hanging over their heads. A large points deduction guarantees that the club will continue to spiral downwards. More players will leave, more fans will give up, losses will continue to grow, and so on. These are very bad times.

CB Fry Posted 30 June, 2009 Share Posted 30 June, 2009 It's my opinion that the issue has always been the FL's rules over CVAs and the catch 22 situation regarding the -25 points. Maybe that let's Pinnacle off the hook a bit easily, I don't know. If another group manager to complete a takeover, then it seems Pinnacle were lying and many of us were wrong in blaming the league. Unless of course, a group takes over AND we're hit with the additional -15 which looks likely. I very much hope I'm wrong, but I still believe no group will takeover because of the liklihood of -25 points. Which means we're finished. So I just have to hope that's I'm wrong and Pinnacle were full of ****. If this "catch 22" 25 points thing you keep going on about was anything like a reality then Lynham and co (and Fry) would have mentioned it by now. If not before than definitely today now Lynham is not even involved anymore. After all, Lynham could take all the heat off himself and his fantasy consortium by blabbing about 25 points, couldn't he? That would remove all anger to him and straight to Mahwinney. This 25 points rule is you reading some rules and making 2+2=5. It just isn't going to happen. There is no "catch 22" except in your head. We've got things to worry about, but this isn't one of them.

Several threads on here this afternoon carry reference to a further -10 or -17; I'm open-minded about that either way... Reality is that with even the risk of further deductions (further deductions = almost certain relegation to L2) then SFC is worth more to the creditors 'dead than alive'. Unless Fry can lie up a cash buyer at 6m-8m PDQ he might as well start auctioning the family silver tomorrow.

Unless Fry can lie up a cash buyer at 6m-8m PDQ he might as well start auctioning the family silver tomorrow. We might have some further points deductions but not for the reason Adriansfc keeps going on about. He thinks we are going to get deducted because SFC doesn't sumbit a CVA because they "weren't" in admin in the first place therefore they can't. He thinks we'd get deducted on a technicality even if a billionaire bought SLH and paid every single debt in full. That isn't going to happen - the League are treating SLH and SFC as inextricably linked, and as long as that entity in its new form sorts itself out we won't get any more deductions. The league aren't going suddenly go back on their entire argument and then split them out just for the sake of deducting points. If we don't get sorted then additional points deductions are perfectly possible, though. Edited 30 June, 2009 by CB Fry
Arizona Posted 30 June, 2009 Share Posted 30 June, 2009 I think the -25 story carries about as much rumour as the Red Bull rumour. It's just been made up by someone on this, or some other, football gossip site and taken as gospel. I've seen no reference to it in any official source and I see no reason why it should be the case. Okay we took the -10 for going into admin, but it's not like there's been any dodgy accounting etc. to warrant further sanctions.
