CLOTH EARS Posted 6 July, 2009 Share Posted 6 July, 2009 I am not yet in a position to give you the sales as they stand BUT i would advise you to come down to Testwood Park tonight and get a ticket 7pm till 9pm OR alternatively tomorrow from 10am till 3pm. IF there are tickets left there will be cash admission on the night. The turnstiles open at 6.15pm. The closest pubs for you to drink are The Salmon Leap in Testwood Lane ( 5 minute walk ), The Red Lion opposite Totton railway station, ( 10 minute walk )The Elephant & Castle in Commercial Road ( 5 minute walk ) and The Cross Keys in Commercial Road ( 5 minute walk ). Our clubhouse bar is limited in size so it may be tricky getting served in there. There are several car parks in Totton and you can park in surrounding roads BUT PLEASE BE CONSIDERATE TO THE LOCAL RESIDENTS. The car parks behind Totton shopping precient may have time limits SO CHECK BEFORE YOU PARK THERE. The nearest car parks are in Testwood lane next to the ambulance station, Salisbury road behind Testvale doctors surgery and Salisbury road behind Countrywide. If you park in the last two car parks i mentioned you can cut through Testvale Park and the ground is right opposite in Testwood place. PLEASE DO NOT COME DOWN TESTWOOD PLACE IN YOUR CAR AS THE ROAD IS A DEAD END AND YOU CANNOT PARK DOWN THERE. Our ground capacity is 2500. If you are bringing kids then i'd advise you to get there early. If you have any further questions then I will be back online approx 9.30 pm this evening. CLOTH EARS Posted 6 July, 2009 Author Share Posted 6 July, 2009 Here is an update. There has been good ticket sales, but as things stand tonight it looks as if the game will not sell out, So it looks as if there will be cash admission on the night. THe admission is £10 Adults and £5 for OAP/KIds ( under 16 ) and Students with a valid student card. Tickets will be on sale at Testwood Park from 10am untill 3pm tomorrow for those who wish to purchase in advance. This is the first time AFC Totton have had the honour of hosting Saints 1st team and alot of people at our club have put alot into planning for the game. We are a club thinking big and we aim to work our way up the non league structure. WE ARE ALSO BIG SAINTS FANS!!! We really hope everything goes smoothly and you all enjoy tomorrow evening. The 'next' time we play Saints, we'll be in our new ground in Calmore with better facilities and alot more space. Thanks All. See you all tomorrow

Give it to Ron Posted 6 July, 2009 Share Posted 6 July, 2009 I would advise against the Red Lion...I nipped in there on Saturday night as my lad was bursting for a wee and needed their loo. It is one of the grottiest pubs I have been in for ages...the beer was awful.

Give it to Ron Posted 6 July, 2009 Share Posted 6 July, 2009 I will let the bar manager know for you. I hadn't been in there for quite a few years...well since Fat Harry had it after he left the Four Horseshoes. There were 2 people in the garden and us at 8pm on a Saturday night...bit of a come down from when my old schoolmate Princey was a bouncer ...they need him again throwing them in! sotonjoe Posted 6 July, 2009 Share Posted 6 July, 2009 No I think he shows enthuisiasm and should be congratulated for his efforts with regard to the Totton match yeh, whatever. I'm guessing he has some kind of 'interest' in selling tickets which isn't simply charitable. The intended implication that the match will sell out in advance has been 'hopeful' rather than accurate in my opinion. Oh look, now it's apparently not going to sell out in advance ... quelle surprise.

No need to deliberately overstate the 'rush' for tickets in an attempt to make us buy in advance as opposed to on the turnstile. Seems very simply and pretty indefensible to me! Still, I'm not stupid enough to be fooled and buy in advance so who cares. You can just count yourself lucky you managed to secure your ticket in advance eh? I'd suggest they're really a tad worried how many could turn up at the last minute tomorrow night, have you ever been to Totton's ground? It aint gonna be pretty if that's the case. One small dead-end road, one gate in. If news breaks tomorrow of the takeover who knows how many might decide to go out and celebrate? If Cloth Ears can help encourage a sell-out before the game then I'm sure a lot of people maybe breathing a little easier.

I would very much doubt that Cloth Ears is taking a cut of the sales, or is some sort of dodgy tout! no mate, you're being pathetic. You've not even paid attention to what I've said. I expressed my displeasure at the deliberate attempt to mislead, not to sell tickets. If people had said that they were laying on extra ticket outlets to help us buy them and help the sellers raise money that would be fine. It's the whole "you'd better get in quick" marketing rubbish than bores me and I'm allowed to say so without your self-righteous bandwagon jumping winging. I don't think so. 1714 at Eastleigh on Saturday and only 900 sold for Totton so far. Totton might sell out on walk up but there has been a deliberate exaggeration about the interest for tickets on here. I'd rather they just said, "please come and support grass roots football" etc as opposed to trying to imply that it's some kind of sooper dooper sell out footballing event. That's my opinion anyway. I just can't be doing with the intention to mislead.
Colinjb Posted 6 July, 2009 Share Posted 6 July, 2009 Hope Totton have a great one tomorrow, any small club run by fans of the bigger team they are hosting of course will be over excited... Win lose or draw on the pitch, it will still make many peoples day to simply be part of it.... Best wishes to you Totton, and COYR's.

Rut Posted 7 July, 2009 Share Posted 7 July, 2009 Totton was the biggest village in England until it became a town in the early 70's. As for those having a (not too) subtle dig at CLOTH then I assume you are Saints fans? I bet you that he would beat any of you at a Saints Trivia quiz. The bloke bleeds red 'n' white. Nowadays he works as an un-paid volunteer for AFC Totton. In any other pre-season Totton v Saints would have been an instant sell-out (not exactly his fault that it hasn't been). But feel free to have a dig at him for daring to give out good, up-to-date ticket info... CLOTH - hope the night goes well. Got a parking spot for those Swiss diggers sorted? SaintRobbie Posted 7 July, 2009 Share Posted 7 July, 2009 Score prediction? I'm going 2-2. I put this as a veiled dig at Wotte. I didnt really believe in my heart he'd draw another game against minnows, even in a friendly. But, sigh... he either doesnt care, his players dont care or we are at non-league standard in League 1 heading for our standard. Acceptable? No. Not after Eastleigh. Loyalty is nice... results are everything. I hope this is just a blip... but then there is enough evidence after 6 months and losing our better players to work out where we are heading under the current managerial and player set up. I hope... really hope that we see some serious Swiss investment tomorrow. I hope they know what they must do to unite us and ride the wave of optimism... Get a bloody good manager and some bloody good players.
