Gasmi has signed on loan

Not at 5ft 8 he isn't. Zidane is a big bulky bloke, well over 6 ft tall, low centre of gravity, not easy to push off the ball. Gasmi isn't a flyweight but he's much smaller than Zidane.

Ha I was only say that as I read it somewhere. Seems like a lot of promising youngsters keep getting labelled as the 'next' Zidane but they tend to fall by the wayside.

Lets hope Gasmi proves an exception to the rule. ;)

I don't know anything about Gasmi but I saw Zidane play quite a few times, his was a physique that made you think twice about going in a giving him a bit of a nibble round the ankles. Hard guy Zidane,Used to get a lot of cards in his early days I think.No-one who saw him walk all over that Saudi guy in 98 or get sent off for a head butt in the 2006 final would call him a softy.

Shame he can't play at full back and he's crocked.

I still don't understand this obsession with full backs. When the system works properly we don't need specialists, we need mobile players-which is what we have. Our problem isn't full backs ,it's carthorses in central defence. They should be gobbling up anything that comes in from the wings, they aren't because they weren't jumping, turning or moving any faster than spastic slugs on Saturday. All our problems came from there and Gillett giving free ball away.

Good stuff.. gives Lallana some competition.

That OS article doesn't stack up though....

"With the transfer window slamming shut at midnight tonight, Saints were keen to add another promising young option to their squad."

"Gasmi joins on a season long loan, with an option to purchase"

If it's a loan then tonight's transfer window deadline doesn't come into it....does it?

OS spin or just an oversight?

Was thinking more of something that went alongside Spiderman (Scheiderlin).

Perhaps Gasmi is French for Batwoman (for example)

Gasmi isn't french for anything, it's a name of Algerian origin, what it means I have no idea.Seems like a common name though.

We'll just have to settle for calling him Gasman

find me a successfull team anywhere in the world that has aperated without decent specialist full backs, if your comment held an ounce of truth why do all the top teams in all the top leagues play with proper fullbacks? What ever you say about mobile players the first job of the defenders will always be too defend and our full backs let the oposition get into two many decent crossing positions putting the central defenders under too much pressure.

Next you'll be saying we don't need a prolific frontman we need a mobile player who can get people involved, oh thats what we have and it's not working!

Not knocking his siging he may indeed be quality but hardly our most pressing need.

After the transfer window you can only take emergency loans which are limited to a maximum of 3 months I beleive.

I sort of recall this one being churned around this time last year. My recollection was that there were 3 different "window" deadlines ....a transfer window, a (non-emergency) loan window for non-premier league teams, and finally an emergency loan window.

I could of course be imagining the middle one of these....

Notice the OS is making much of the fact that he's grown up with Spiderman.

Hope that doesn't make Gasmi this year's Imants Bleidelis or (insert name of rubbish player who came from Equador with Delgado).

Oh I see, the new Zidane (short version). That's alright then.

C'mon Romain.

I thought it was that after today, you had to wait one week then can start makiing emergency loan signings. Not 100% sure though. I'm waiting for the big announcements of whose leaving now. Probably be a bit like January and they'll only be announced very late.
