Saintgaz Posted 15 July, 2009 Share Posted 15 July, 2009 How did he play last night? Could be a useful addition to the squad with his experience at this level, which will also release Lloyd James into a more advanced role in right or centre midfield!! moonraker Posted 15 July, 2009 Share Posted 15 July, 2009 Yes please apart from tiring in the second half he was very good value and would do a good job in the coming season.
skintsaint Posted 15 July, 2009 Share Posted 15 July, 2009 give him a one year deal as from what ive read he will do a decent job for us next season

I was a bit unsure before yesterday but after seeing him play, especially in that first half, he was solid and very vocal, he could definitely do a job for us next season. A bit of work on his fitness wouldn't do him any harm, but yeah, he is the sort of physical, loud player we are going to need this season. Certainly would be a useful addition. I agree, he stood out in a very poor team last night.
Saint137 Posted 15 July, 2009 Share Posted 15 July, 2009 Used to work in Reading and he is seen as a bit of a legend there - similar to Franny Benali for us I suppose - workhorse who will always give his all whilst not necessarily being that good (sorry Franny! Although I've never forgiven you for that hat-trick you scored against Weston Park in '84!)
Foxstone Posted 15 July, 2009 Share Posted 15 July, 2009 Would be a great acquisition although I think he needs to shed a stone to get down to a good playing weight !

Polegate, later report quotes him saying he would like to stay with us, that we've made him feel welcome etc. As I work by the Madejski, I see his testimonial is next Monday evening (21st). Thinking I may work late and walk over to see him play (I'm assuming they will give him some pitch time). By next Monday he may have signed a contract and be a Saint. Anyone else coming up? SaintBobby Posted 15 July, 2009 Share Posted 15 July, 2009 Is he just a right back or can he play centre back?
Bailey Posted 15 July, 2009 Share Posted 15 July, 2009 Would be more than happy for Murty to sign a contract here. His experience and ability will be very useful for us in League One, and he's a natural leader both on and off the pitch, something we've been missing for a long time. Ivan Katalinic's 'tache Posted 15 July, 2009 Share Posted 15 July, 2009 Agreed. Our side desperately needs some experienced players to complement and guide the kids coming through.
trousers Posted 17 July, 2009 Share Posted 17 July, 2009 Well, at least we now know why Murty is training with us.... Pardew started at Reading in March 1998 (as caretaker manager) and Murty was one of his first signings that summer.

trousers Posted 17 July, 2009 Share Posted 17 July, 2009 So who did then Trousers? I've no idea (no surprises there then!) Depends how long ago Liebherr approached Pardew I guess. Ok, perhaps it is just a coincidence then.
