A friend of mine suffered a similar head injury in a motorway paile-up last october and he's only recently gone back to work. They can take a long time to recover from so I reckon it could be some time before we see Massa driving again. All the best Felipe.
Hatch Posted 27 July, 2009 Share Posted 27 July, 2009 Any truth in the rumour that Schumacher will drive in his place?
Sheaf Saint Posted 27 July, 2009 Author Share Posted 27 July, 2009 Any truth in the rumour that Schumacher will drive in his place? First I've heard of it, but I wouldn't rule it out completely. Perhaps our F1 mole Ponty could enlighten us.
Ponty Posted 27 July, 2009 Share Posted 27 July, 2009 Schumacher doesn't hold a superlicense any longer. That doesn't rule it out completely but it makes it doubtful. More chance of seeing Alonso in the F60 IMO.
bungle Posted 27 July, 2009 Share Posted 27 July, 2009 Sebastian Bourdais I reckon.
Colinjb Posted 27 July, 2009 Share Posted 27 July, 2009 Get Sato in there NOW! More likely Marc Gene or that young Italian F3 guy, Mirkolotti or something. Would like to see the other test driver Luca Badoer get a shot though, talented guy who never had the breaks.
Ponty Posted 27 July, 2009 Share Posted 27 July, 2009 Sebastian Bourdais I reckon. Why? He'd be a waste of petrol.

Sheaf Saint Posted 28 July, 2009 Author Share Posted 28 July, 2009 There are reports now that Massa might suffer permanent damage in his left eye, so we may never see him in F1 ever again I really wish him all the best. He's a far more accomplished driver than his team mate ever will be IMO.
Pancake Posted 28 July, 2009 Share Posted 28 July, 2009 Looks like Ferrari will bring in Gene.
bungle Posted 28 July, 2009 Share Posted 28 July, 2009 Marc Gene is awesome. I remember him getting some points for Minardi at the Austrian GP years ago, coming from the back of the grid to snatch 5th or 6th. Those were the days, when I had a team to support. I'm guessing you are being sarcastic as Gene has always been a very average driver. The only time I can remember him scoring for Minardi was at the Nurburgring in '99. It was a rain soaked event when only about 8 cars finished and Johnny Herbert won in a Stewart. IIRC his team mate Badoer was running in 4th until he retired with tech issues. Remember the poor guy sitting by his car crying his eyes out.

Colinjb Posted 28 July, 2009 Share Posted 28 July, 2009 (edited) Marc Gene is awesome. I remember him getting some points for Minardi at the Austrian GP years ago, coming from the back of the grid to snatch 5th or 6th. Those were the days, when I had a team to support. That was Mark Webber. As Arizona stated, Gene got a point in the Nurburgring 1999. Edited 28 July, 2009 by Colinjb

St Landrew Posted 30 July, 2009 Share Posted 30 July, 2009 Marc Gene is awesome.. I take it you mean from the standpoint that, where as I may be a reasonably good driver IMO, [and a better motorcycle rider, after all these years], Marc Gene is awesome in the same vehicle [though possibly NOT on 2 wheels ]. In the company of fellow F1 drivers, he's so-so. That's why he's a test driver, and not a currrent racer.
