Saint Charlie Posted 12 August, 2009 Share Posted 12 August, 2009 I know its easy to moan but I have noticed that the OS are now just ripping quotes from Radio Solent interviews to use on the Site. The latest article about Pardew: http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10280~1752435,00.html This was word for word on Solent after the game. Also the immediate verdict from Pards: http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10280~1751469,00.html Again this was word for word. In the past it was nice to hear Solent, hear what the Manager had to say and then see some different/extended quotes on the website. Maybe they don't have Pardew's number or something but the OS is fast making itself redundant if they can't even get exclusive quotes. Also articles such as the first one get my hopes up seeing the title but then when you click on it and you have already heardd the words 24 hours ago its rather annoying. Everything else has been improved so up your game OS writers!
Lord Duckhunter Posted 12 August, 2009 Share Posted 12 August, 2009 At least it's not spouting rubbish about our "total football" and fawning all over the Chairman. When Lambert signed it made a nice change to read about it without silly quotes about how he signed because of our revolutionary set up.

Nothing about lambert until was also on Solent, still nothing on Mills injury really. Pretty poor IMO.
Psycrow Posted 12 August, 2009 Share Posted 12 August, 2009 I do wonder if its simply a collaberation between the 2 to save money. It would also explain Saints Player cutting out to other games so much during commentary last night.

Thedelldays Posted 12 August, 2009 Share Posted 12 August, 2009 Not really but would be nice to read new, exclusive things on there from time to time. it is far quicker to play a voice recording than writing an article and putting a match piece together and posting it ona webstite
dune Posted 12 August, 2009 Share Posted 12 August, 2009 I subcribed to saintstv and this became saintsplayer last week. It's part of the official site (although you have to pay) and the content has improved tenfold since we've been bought out. I pay yearly and it works out at £3.99 a month. I would recomend joining. Weldone to whoever has been behind the improvement, it's appreciated.

They must be, as someone else suggested, trying to keep each others costs down which is fine. Its a silly thing to moan about but its just nice to read/here fresh stuff. At least under Lowe we had a thriving radio station that was the envy of everyone, not to mention the catering;)

The content may have improved, but the match commentary was appalling, not just the quality of the commentary (which was Solent anyway), but also the delivery of the feed (kept breaking up). Paying for exclusive saints content and then cutting to reports about Bournemouth and even worse eastleigh is not my idea of Saints exclusivity. I don't mind the commentator just adding Cherries now 4-0 down during quiet moment, but cutting to a different match altogether is not acceptable

Or: Pardew says the same answer to the similar questions he's asked or they did the interview at the same time.
mcjwills Posted 12 August, 2009 Share Posted 12 August, 2009 Or the OS reporter just taped the inteview on the radio and typed it up for the website, why get off yer ass and go find somebody to get the same answer that is reported on the radio. John Boy Saint Posted 12 August, 2009 Share Posted 12 August, 2009 Up until a few weeks ago we were heading down the gurgler into a dark place, quite possibly the people who did run the website before found employment elsewhere more solid, so as a result the people now doing it are making the most of their ability in the short term also remember we are now a 3rd division side without the income streams that we use to enjoy in the prem. Something that backs this up was walking into the Megastore last night I was amazed at how sparse it looked for the start of the season, calling on retailers in my job if the Megastore was a new account (without me knowing the history connections etc) I would proceed with a great deal of caution for fear of bad debt. Just cut the periphery departments of the club some slack for a while, everything needs to be rebooted and the first place that we all want to see that is on the pitch. Remember most teams and their fans when they visit us this season will look upon us with wonder and awe at what we have as it is now.

rallyboy Posted 13 August, 2009 Share Posted 13 August, 2009 It may seem like a dream from our current position and it could take ten years but I believe that one day we will return to have our own independent radio station AND catering that is the envy of the Premiership - Liebherr and Pardew must focus their every waking hour on these two goals, I must have original quotes, and our progress through the divisions won't be complete unless accompanied by lamb cutlets served on a bed of asparagus.
