Interesting - could this be the new CB signing?

http://www.chelseafc.com/page/TheReservesProfiles/0,,10268~900399,00.html

"A regular member of the England U19 squad....

Now in his third year, he is primarily an attacking midfielder but previously filled in at full-back and centre-back during 21+6 youth games in his first campaign"

Otherwise (might be a stupid question) who's he been bought in to replace?

Unless he's a right-winger, I find this strange. His profile lists him as an AM, surely Lallana is best placed for this position?

Anyway, not grumbling about another addition, cos we need the numbers and I doubt we are paying anything for this kid. Just think there could be other areas we need to strengthen.

He's a right winger, used to play as an attacking right sided full back.

So a good signing in a position we're short in.

Well done Wilkins on this one...

Next to the clip this is written:

This season has seen Jacob Mellis improve so much that he has made it to the first team bench, this video will show why.

Watching that it looks like he plays mostly in a central attacking midfield position. We've not really had anyone in the role in the two games to date with Schneiderlin being more of a playmaker and Wotton being the bruiser. I think it's a role that Lallana should be playing but his versatility seems him stuck out on the wings.

Looks like a utility player to cover/put on subs bench for the first teamers.

I've just gone through a couple of Chelsea web-sites and Melis was apparently "on the fringes" of the first team - think he'll be more than cover for us, if that's the case?

With Pardew wanting other teams to fear us , mabe Jacob will be the real pace for Rickie ... looking more like AP & DW getting things in place for service for Rickie to be a goal machine for us.

Looking at the potential of Jacob , seems a bit more of an inspiring loan deal that was put together last year

On the fringes of the 1st team that is competing for Champions League, Prem and all cup competitions you would have thought a loan spell to the CCC would have done him more good. Why Chelsea are prepared to let him get knocked about in League 1 confuses me if he is that close to Prem football. Could just be that they hope he will turn out to be a 1st teamer for them but has allot to learn or they are dressing him up so they can ask for more money if we try and buy him in Jan.

Not saying its not a good move for us but think some of the wording is more window dressing than anything else.

We relied on a few loans last season, some worked and some didnt. Hopefully with the new owners we have a bit more room to filter out the chaff and just get the quality help we need. Looking better each week though so hopefully we will have a competitive team in time to push for playoffs.

Just watched some clips on you tube & he looks good.
LOL - if it is the same set of clips that were posted above then I couldn't see anything that suggested that (although I hope he is). Bloody crap video though (this one that is
). Edited by kpturner
