Minty Posted 21 August, 2009 Share Posted 21 August, 2009 http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10280~1763567,00.html Agree with a lot of that, especially the comments about Morgan and others having ability, but needing to get to grips with the league and the opposition. Suhari Posted 21 August, 2009 Share Posted 21 August, 2009 Good article. Cannot fault 99% of what he is saying. His comment about how Trotman will become our no.1 in the air....hmmm; nothing like putting a bit of pressure on a young player eh?
Wes Tender Posted 21 August, 2009 Share Posted 21 August, 2009 A decent bit of psychology being applied here; make us the underdogs, lower expectations and then the euphoria of a win is that much better.
Justin C Posted 21 August, 2009 Share Posted 21 August, 2009 Very true about Morgan, he is class but is suited to the Prem rather than Div1. I am not sure he can adjust to this league. I hope he can with out losing too much of his ability.

I don't think it's clever atall. I see it as he's just putting his excuses in early incase we lose, like Redknapp used to do. By all accounts, he did this every game at Charlton aswell and their fans got royally p155ed off with it.
Matthew Le God Posted 21 August, 2009 Share Posted 21 August, 2009 Right. I bet you he ends up in the Premiership one way or another in the next 2 to 3 years. Morgan is a class act and if played alongside someone decent that does the ball-winning which hopefully Dean Hammond will do he will excel. S-Clarke Posted 21 August, 2009 Share Posted 21 August, 2009 Quite and interesting bit towards the end of the interview on SaintsTV... ''The agenda will become clear in a few weeks, i don't want to cloud it in mystery, but there will be 1 or 2 going out and I'll then look to bring 1 or 2 in'' I 'guess' he means one of the Poles, and possibly Holmes - and will this then open the door for the 2n'd ''Exciting and surprising'' signing that Cortese promised? Tbf we probably are underdogs and after the Swindon game my expectations couldn't be any lower.

By all accounts, he did this every game at Charlton aswell and their fans got royally p155ed off with it. I don't see it as anything other than his own honest assessment. If he was being confident, some would criticise him for setting unrealistic expectations or putting too much pressure on... he can't win, because someone is always waiting to criticise it seems, and that's before the match... Why can't a managers comments be taken at face value for once?

On the echo site Pardew says Holmes isn't one of the players who wants out and he's staying, he's just been having injury setbacks.

SuperSAINT Posted 21 August, 2009 Share Posted 21 August, 2009 Completely missed this earlier today... More talk from Pards, praising Lloyd James, as well as confirming that Holmes is going no-where (as mentioned in another thread). http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/saints/news/4559514.Saints_still_finding_their_feet_at_home/

But to insinuate that there are players in the world who can perform at Prem level but not at League One level is ridiculous. Vidic, Terry, Essien, Rooney etc will all still kick the sh*t out of you, they will just take the ball first.

So Swedish International midfielder (with plenty of Premier League experience) Anders Svensson would perform well in League One? I somehow doubt it ;-)

I somehow doubt it ;-) Anders Svensson has became much physically stronger already. From I saw from the Portugal against Sweden game, he never bottled out of tackle, did plenty of dirty work and also won some headers up against Christano Ronaldo!!!
