Bit concerned...

Yeah, I suppose, but normally we hear some rumours from the ITK'ers.

The problem is with the new regime there are very few ITK's because old contacts have now gone, I don't think that just because there is a lack of rumours there is any lack of action, what it suggests is that matters are being handled professionally without info being leaked before it needs to be.

Yeah, there was not much speculation over Hammond and Lambert really, and I think that's the way it is in this league. An ITK or a fans forum rumour is about as much speculation as you get, along with local news. Very much unlike the Premiership where we can use Man City as an example, where they are linked with every player under the sun.

Perhaps DPS, as previous pre match announcements and signings of new players has resulted in complete lack lustre performances by our players, they've finally learned the lesson. I'm sure we shall hear of new signings before Tuesday and loans thereatfer if necessary. Were this not to be the case then we're all doomed and another titantic like ending in view. Don't forget, Pardew has yet to pick a winning team which I've been convinced he could have.

I'm not ITK at all but here's my thinking:

The O'Donovan story is probably something put about by his agent. We'd be more likely to go for a loan if one of our targets fall through.

Jaidi will probably sign if he gets permanent residency status. Seeing as though he's apparently still training with us and was at the game makes me think it's still an option.

A genuine winger is probably one of the deals we're working hard on - I've no idea who though. Gradel possibly? We seemed to have talked to Leicester when Rasiak or Saga were linked and wanted him but their valuation wasn't what we were offering. Pardew said it was something we might return to.

A striker. Someone who will link up with Lambert so that would be the "little" in the little and large partnership. Maybe Craddock? If you look at his career it's a bit like Kevin Phillips - released by a club early on and steadily rebuilt his reputation. Simeon Jackson would be on paper the ideal partnership but there has to be other options available Nathan Tyson and Freddie Eastwood spring to mind (though the latter doesn't have much pace).

Right Back. Probably won't do anything until Murty's injury is properly assessed and then hope to either make do with what we've got or solve the problem with a loan.

This is all my pure guesswork but if anything I've said happens then I'll gladly take the credit.

Can we have a couple of more exciting cash signings please.

I hate loans. They haven't served us well in recent years overall have they. Too many players that don't want to stay long term, don't perform, hang around a month and generally make it hard to find a settled team.

Richard Wright

Chaplow

Guthrie

Dailly

plus a few others have done ok on loan.

Not massively, but a bit concerned at the lack of transfer speculation before Tuesday's deadline. Has anybody heard anything apart from the O'Donovan rumour?

Perhaps there s no speculation or rumour because there's nothing to speculate about. We aren't exactly flashing the cash just now and we are in all honesty a very poor proposition to any player who is actually worth something. If we were a good side albeit fallen from grace but now on the upward cycle again, well then players would jump at the chance of joining us.

We are being run by a swiss banker, have a total of 2 points from 4 games and are on -8,leaving us in League 1 untill at least the 2010/11 seson. We aren't a good prospect and more players want to leave than sign for us.

Imagine you're a decent youngish pro, imagine the prospect of playing with Wootton, Perry,Thomas, Lancashire and what have you, you'd say thanks but no thanks wouldn't you.

And most of us would have been very happy to see Henri Camara or Kasey Keller stay on long term, though the other two loans that year did not work out. Guess it proves the point, some work, some don't......

And that was your attempt at optimism right?

I'd tend to agree with you, but Lambert and Hammond were convinced to join us and both could have played at a higher level.

Hopefully we'll bring in at least 2 more permanent signings, up front and central defence being the most needy, but I think that's the bare minimum. Ideally we'd get 4 or 5.

were any 'higher level' clubs actually prepared to part with cash for Lambert?

just asking, I'm afraid he may be a one trick pony, probably because I know nothing about him..

All right. I'll speculate that Saints will put an offer in for Lee Trundle (Bristol City) and Bayo Akinfenwa (Northampton). Feel any better now? Thought not.

Sometimes speculation is the last thing you want to hear. :D
