Nineteen Canteen Posted 9 September, 2009 Share Posted 9 September, 2009 It seems Begbies Traynor have been nominated for the 'Business Rescue of the Year award' for firms with a turnover under £20m. See the attached link. http://www.insolvencyandrescueawards.co.uk/nominations/shortlist.php A worthy nominee and deserving of recognition for reaching the pinnacle in their industry? waggy Posted 9 September, 2009 Share Posted 9 September, 2009 just shows you the sad state of the Bristish economy while Germany, Japan and China are handing out awards for excellence in industry and commerce we are having the Insolvency & Rescue Awards 2009, cheers Gordon! I suspect they are an annual event and in no way dependent on an unhealthy economoy. Anyway, I'm still waiting to hear Flashman's tip.
rallyboy Posted 9 September, 2009 Share Posted 9 September, 2009 I guess BT's swift and incident-free resolution of our little 'issue' deserves something. Months of frustrating and damaging mediocrity and then they pulled the mother of all rabbits out of a hat that they didn't even know they were wearing, give them a prize. A job well done in selecting a new owner with integrity, money, talent, ambition. My only gripe is that Barclays Bank have not won an award for pulling the carpet from under Lowe and providing the conditions for future success. Wes Tender Posted 9 September, 2009 Share Posted 9 September, 2009 Did nobody else notice the subtle dig at Pinnacle in Nineteen's post? I think the award was given to BT for raising the club up from the lowe depths that the former board had allowed it to sink.

Wes Tender Posted 9 September, 2009 Share Posted 9 September, 2009 paranoid Do you think so? So the award was not for excellence, nor for a great coup, efficiency, performance, etc. It was because it was a Pinnacle in their career and purely coincidental that it was also the name of the main rival bidder that ****ed up things badly and might have lost us ML. benjii Posted 9 September, 2009 Share Posted 9 September, 2009 Oh please, let's not have an argument on this thread. It's a silly, light-hearted, trivial thread started for a spot of fun to brighten up someone's dull afternoon.

LOL - kind of sum's up my view on the matter. Candidates for nominees must be a bit thin on the ground unless they had an award for letting companies go bust

Correct - still it would be nice to win something even if it's best rescue under £20m as oppose to a win in League 1.
Gemmel Posted 9 September, 2009 Share Posted 9 September, 2009 Candidates for nominees must be a bit thin on the ground unless they had an award for letting companies go bust Now theres one rupes could win; 1) Saints 2) RF Webb begging creditors not to put them in administration 3) WH Ireland, post more losses this quarter (I think it was 4 million they lost last year and share price nearly half of what it was orininally) Go rupes.....surely he has got a chance

National and reputable recovery specialist with a parent structure enabling external equity investment (unlike an LLP which the bulk of large recovery practitioners are) being tipped for a good year in the largest recession in living memory shocker You don't need to be Derren Brown to foresee that. If it was so obvious, why bother putting them in a list of recommendations? As you say, hardly rocket science. Surely a good stock broker is one that gets the less obvious recommendations right? I'm now tempted to set up a forecasting company so that I can recommend breathing air to people. It's all the rage, I tell you. And what's more, no one else has spotted it...
