MK Dons -big test next week

A lot of the pressure of previous home games has been removed now, so we good be looking for a fourth straight league win. I'm looking forward to it in a way i never imagined was possible to look forward to seeing Saints play MK in the third division.

agree completely. Looking forward to a game that will be a big test. It may well be very tough, but it IS a great chance to fire a warning shot across the bows of the top teams.

Love to see us really go for it. If we were to lose it wouldn't be the end of the world, but a good win could make a massive difference.

Going to be better than some run of the mill PL game against Bolton or Hull !!!!

hmmm anyone got the odds on southampton to be promoted??? must still be massive outsiders, good value based on the optimism on this forum!!!

7th favorites to be promoted with betfair -actual promotion rather than just play offs or automatic

Should be a decent game, but if we play at our best we'll win again comfortably.

What I've seen over the last few weeks, and even v Bristol rovers to a certain extent - is that when we attack with power and pace and use the ball intelligently...teams at this level just cannot handle us at all.

Some of our players ''minds'' are worthy of a higher level, too quick for many opponents at L1 level.

agree...

this is where morgan in the middle is vital....he has real skill and technique for someone so young...sure he makes mistakes but he is still a teenager..

his passing vision (the way he spreads the play) is vital IMO...

he and hammond complement each other well...

only because Wotton is covering for them and Waigo gives them an outlet

yes Wotton is covering and Waigo is an outlet as is Davis keeping goal, Jadi and Trottman winning in the air, Harding covering the left wing with James over lapping Waigo crossing for Lambert to head back across goal for Llanna to score.............it's a team Mike, everyone is complementing each other. Lambert is back to defend corners then appears up front to kill the ball with his excellent touch.

Credit must go to Pardew and his coaches, every signing has so far come of, onwards and upwards!

The future is bright, the future is red and white :-)

think it is down to AP finding a system which works for the players we have, not fitting the players to a set system.

Wotton, IMO, has been pivotal to this and it has removed the defensive shackles slightly from certain other players

I do not disagree with you but other than Jaidi and Waigo the others were playing earlier in the season and were not as effective as now.

I think your first point is more to do then Waigo and Jaidi now playing. Pardew's obviously building something great, he's making his own signings, they are all starting to gel. Pardew said himself at the beginning of the season that it would take time for things to come of, he said the winning was not important, it was all about the team being disciplined which they now are, then he would worry about performances and they are now performing!!!!!!!!

Come on you Saints!!!!!!!!

It is just great to discuss matters on the pitch rather than off it, how i have hated the last 5 years

Exactly right mate, 100% agree, football football football!

I did my first away game for a couple of years last Friday, can't wait for next Saturday and am getting tickets for Orient, how great is it to finally have our club, out team our football back :-)

If we approach each game properly we will now beat most teams in this league. They are

very strong defensively, so we will have to play very well to beat them.

They've got big darren powell at the heart of their defense!

so let's get in there with a few weak tackles, and he'll be off ;)

Load up on three one i think the phrase is.

Exactly correct mate, isn't it lovely to have a united fan base, everyone seems to be focused on the football, no in fighting, no songs about anything or anyone else except for SFC.

We'll still get different opinions ref managers, team selection, formations etc. but that's football isn't it? I thought Mellis had a great game against Gillingham yet the Echo marked him down............opinions!!!!!!

4 in row this afternoon............1-3 for the Super Saints...............fingers crossed!

Easy this prediction lark!!!!!!!!

Come on you Saints

acording to many of my mates on facebook who love to try and put a downer on my saints comments after a win, we wont get playoffs which i have been sayin we will get all season, but i think a win vs mk dons would shut them up and prove to the whole league we are serious about pushing up the league, and going for promotion.

With players like Davis Jaidi Hammond Lallana and Lambert who are top 2 players in this league in there postions we should be good enough to beat any/most team/s in this league.

Feel very poistive about our prospects as I thought Oldham would be more tricky than Southend or Gillingham as we don't travel up North to well.

MK Dons will be a different prospect and it will be a game to savour as Docker-P mentioned in a way that we wouldn't have thought possible but IMO its a game that could go ether way and in Ince they have a manager who can prepare his team for a big game in front of big crowd based on his recent experience.

I think we are still in the position where we can afford to believe the manner of the performance is as important as the result and if we lose in a thrilling game by the odd goal that will be disappointing but no need for people to start falling on their swords and giving us the 'woe is me act'. (see reactions post Bristol Rovers game)

Its going to be a long week waiting for the game that's for sure. I'd take a draw as our draw away against Charlton doesn't look to shabby in hindsight and with Norwich (21/11), Leeds (19/12) and a hideous midweek trip to Hartlepool to come in the run up to Christmas maintaining the performances are key. If we do that the real games for the taking should be won and we get ourselves out of the bottom 4 in time for Christmas. (Orient A 31/10, Brighton H 15/10, Wycombe H 01/12, Walsall A 5/12, Tranmere H 12/12).

What happens if one of these top 2 players get injured? Given our points deduction and delayed start to our pre-season I still think the play-offs is unrealistic if not impossible. There will be a few games along the way like the Bristol game that will trip us up and whilst I can now see us finishing in the top 12 I think we will still fall short of the play-offs for the reason I already mentioned.

Personally, I am happy with that because if Pardew can keep the squad together we will have a hell of squad with the benefit of this season under their belt to destroy the league next season and may go unbeaten - who knows?

Having said that if your prediction is correct then we will all need to hail our new managerial messiah Alan Pardew as it will be a feat of player and fan management greatness that IMO will exceed any Saints manager classing themselves in the top 20 of post war British Managers.

I hope that no-one forgets to give them **** for being the first (and hopefully last) ever official franchised football club in England. It is plainly wronf=g that they even exist in this league.

Can you imagine how you would feel if Marcus had bought us and shipped the 'club' along with the '76 triumph up the road to (say) Basingjoke? Well, these arseholes moved the club even further from their real home, and were allowed to change the nmae just to riub salt into the wounds of genuine 'Dons' fans.

It must never be allowed to happen again, and if ever the game of football had a bunch of plastic fans, then it is the MK Dons ones without a shadow of doubt.

I hope we absolutely smash them, I really do.

Basingstoke would be handy for home games though.

No.

See I was going to reply to your points in a polite manner because you raised some interesting ones but then I read your final line and realised that you were just trying to start an argument again and get people's backs up. Why not leave your inflammatory posts for the threads that you want to do that in and keep the football discussion to solely that. You did a post in the lounge last week about fair trade which I found interesting. More of that and less of the windups and people aren't going to abuse you.

I wonder if any of the original Wimbledon fans still follow them or if they all now follow AFC Wimbledon instead. It must have been really difficult as a fan to see their club go through that.

I believe that they came theough it okay at the end of the day though. AFC Wimbledon are extremely well supported both hopme and away. I really do hope that they meeet one adya and AFC win it convincingly, sounding the death knell of the utterly despicable Maccy D's. It would be so sweet for all footie fans worldwide imo.

How about savouring back-to-back away wins and moving off the bottom of the table before worrying about next week ?

Not 'worrying' at all Mr AS - on the contrary, with the team on form its a great thing to be able to savour next week's game. I'm looking forward to it tremendously and I'm sure a lot of the fans feel the same.

I was enjoying your last 2 post's until your needless slant on Lawrie!

You were talking sense, positive, all about football and no politics then 'BANG' lets slate Lawrie. Lawrie never classed himself as one of the post war best top 20 managers, it was a independent publication from Guinness, come on 19c, keep it real mate, the futures bright, the futures red and white!
