St Landrew Posted 5 November, 2009 Share Posted 5 November, 2009 Just started and ManU look as if they are having no trouble finding each other. Saints supporters are very loud. The Dell looks pretty, in all her latest glory. Mostly, ManU so far.
St Landrew Posted 5 November, 2009 Author Share Posted 5 November, 2009 3.05. Free kick 20 yards out. MLT territory. Just hit the wall - corner. Comes to nothing. Just got a shot of Barry Venison as captain. All blonde flowing locks.

St Landrew Posted 5 November, 2009 Author Share Posted 5 November, 2009 Nicky Butt misses an excellent chance. Up the other end, Doddsy crosses into the crowd. Steve Bruce fouls Simon Charlton down the left side, and Matty takes the kick. Belted into the 6 yard area, and Ken Monkou heads the ball into Schmeichel, and then pops in the rebound. 1-0 Saints. Woohoo..! 11 minutes in.

St Landrew Posted 5 November, 2009 Author Share Posted 5 November, 2009 has keane been sent off yet? or is that the 6-3? Next season's match. Again corner Saints. Mix up in the penalty area, but Nicky Butt clears, only to a Saints player. Down the line to Le Tiss, and another corner.
St Landrew Posted 5 November, 2009 Author Share Posted 5 November, 2009 Matty takes. Ball pinging about, then comes to Dodd who shaves it past the right post. Good game this..!
Kadeem Hardison Posted 5 November, 2009 Share Posted 5 November, 2009 I am currently watching Saints away to Forest from 20/12/1986. It ended 0-0. Still no goals. Someone's just taken a throw-in. He had a moustache. He threw it to someone else with a moustache. There is a man in the crowd behind the first player with a moustache who also has a moustache. He's wearing a blue coat but has a red scarf on. I think he may be sat with his son, but he might not be related to the boy at all. The boy may be with the man on the other side of him, who doesn't have a moustache. The boy, obviously, doesn't have a moustace either. Bit that doesn't necessarily mean he is with the man without a moustache. I wonder if the man with a moustache has still got a moustache now. That would be funny. Maybe the one without a moustache has grown one! The boy is probably in his thirties now so he may have a moustache. Still no goals.

St Landrew Posted 5 November, 2009 Author Share Posted 5 November, 2009 ManU pinging the ball about now, to no effect. If they can't find each other, it has little to do with shirt colour and more about being pressurised by a Saints opponent. Beckham offside. Next game Newcastle. St Landrew Posted 5 November, 2009 Author Share Posted 5 November, 2009 Matty collects the ball froma throw-in, turns and hits the post from an acute angle and the ball bounces away. Southampton pressing ManU. Le Tiss through ball to Doddsy, Schmeichel miles off his line and clears.
St Landrew Posted 5 November, 2009 Author Share Posted 5 November, 2009 Magilton through ball, low cross by Alan Neilson, and there at the near post, Neil Shipperley, slots the ball in for Saints second. Sweet..! 2-0, and ManU are looking for excuses already.

St Landrew Posted 5 November, 2009 Author Share Posted 5 November, 2009 ManU spraying the ball about at length. So much for not seeing each other, although to no effect. Schmeichel and Bruce having a go at each other, because Saints are making them look bad.
St Landrew Posted 5 November, 2009 Author Share Posted 5 November, 2009 4 ManU players surround Matty to nullify him. He still gets it forward to a teammate. Great movement from Saints.
St Landrew Posted 5 November, 2009 Author Share Posted 5 November, 2009 ManU starting to see more of the ball, but they're coming up against a Saints back 4 of Dodd, Monkou, Benali and Charlton, who are bossing them brilliantly. Matty slips Bruce, and unleahes a huge shot with no back lift, which Schmeichel can't hold.

St Landrew Posted 6 November, 2009 Author Share Posted 6 November, 2009 Shipperley crosses from the right, Schmeichel comes out to grab, but loses it, and it falls to Le Tiss, who pops it over his head, and with 2 ManU defenders throwing themselves about, finds the only place where he's guaranteed to beat them - hitting the inside of the far post. Cue mayhem..! 3-0. Saints just making ManU look second rate now.
St Landrew Posted 6 November, 2009 Author Share Posted 6 November, 2009 1st half whistle goes. 2nd half begins with ManU in Blue & White shirts. More excuses. They are supposed to be better players. Lots of action. ManU get one back 3-1, and the game ends. Isn't it amazing how I can move time around to my whim..? The next game I fancy re-watching is the next season's match. badgerx16 Posted 6 November, 2009 Share Posted 6 November, 2009 It's funny how certain things can be remembered very clearly, and others slip your mind entirely. I know exactly what I was doing when this match was being played, as I had it on the radio at work whilst we were doing a network installation / upgrade around one of our office buildings, and when the 3rd goal went in I went running up and down the corridor telling the other 2 working for me, and they didn't believe me ! John Boy Saint Posted 6 November, 2009 Share Posted 6 November, 2009 I would have liked to have seen us 3 nil down at home to Man U by half time, then on such a sunny day changing our shirts at half time because due to the closeness of the crowd and the number of replica shirts in it all our players complained that they could not see each other. For starters I don't think we would have got away with it, if we had and gone on to win 4-3 the changing of shirts at half time would have outlawed for ever............. Wes Tender Posted 6 November, 2009 Share Posted 6 November, 2009 I think that if I recall correctly, the season before we drew against them at the Dell 2-2. Then followed this 3-1, then the 6-3, then 1-0, meaning that they only got one point from us in 4 matches here.

I remember rushing back from work (where my boss was trying to do my performance review) to get to the 1-0 game. What sort of person tries to do a review at 5:30 anyway? St Landrew Posted 6 November, 2009 Author Share Posted 6 November, 2009 Especially as Newcastle had beaten them 5-0 the week before. Albert's chip over Schmeicel for their last goal was the inspiration for MLT's goal. I've got an interview somewhere, where Dave Beasant extolls the virtues of MLT saying, not only was he supremely skilled, but he was a heck of a scholar as well, e.g. picking up the fact that Schmeichel stood well off his line, for a lot of the time. If you look at the goal [almost everywhere including Youtube], Matty doesn't even look up to see where Schmeichel is. He knows. For me, the best football is intelligent football.
