JibMcdo Posted 6 February, 2010 Share Posted 6 February, 2010 Why do you think he is playing Mills and Seaborne over Harding and Jaidi? There is no way he is under pressure this season from the board, this season is all about building for next season. If we get a bonus cup win and FA Cup run then fantastic. After this season the squad will really start to gel and everyone will get to know each other inside out and these leads slipping will not happen. saint_stevo Posted 6 February, 2010 Share Posted 6 February, 2010 The problem i have is that with all the new signings we have options in every position, how long before AP has some idea of his best XI? I remember some quotes from Charlton fans saying how they needed a striker, so AP went out and bout 3 and then just chopped them all around. I think the jury is still out on Pardew tactically

Block 5 Posted 6 February, 2010 Share Posted 6 February, 2010 It's hilarious how some simple folk think they know more than AP. How can people who are sat at a computer spout off about tactics without being: a) at the game, and b) involved in the game as a professional, with years of experience playing and managing at the highest level? RedAndWhite91 Posted 6 February, 2010 Share Posted 6 February, 2010 [rant]So the 11 players that are out on the pitch can continuously avoid blame, as soon as we drop points it is instantly the managers fault? I'm sorry, but that isn't right. Any people who think that Pardew should be sacked now is seriously deluded as well, if that is the case. Why, after every single match in which we drop points, do we have this massive "PARDEW OUT" versus "WE'RE LUCKY TO HAVE A CLUB" debate. It's verging on ridiculous. I genuinely believe there are certain members of this forum who love it when we **** up, as they just love being negative, they love having a moan. It's time for some realism, we're not going to win every game, and why not try and get behind the team when we don't. This isn't aimed at anyone in particular, but it is so annoying and tiresome.[/rant]

(i don't think they're injured) I'll be judging him from next year though, if we're not in with a shout of the top 2 - he'll be gone. Jaidi and Harding were not randomly dropped. Don't you have any memory. Jaidi had an eye injury and missed some games, Harding was also injured, and was replaced by Mills who did a great job. There was no way Jaidi was going to play today, at the age of 34 he is not fit enough to play 3 times in 8 days, and as Seaborne and Fonte are cup tied for one or both of the cup games Jaidi was needed for both of them. There is some real crap being posted on here today. The only thing certain after today is that the play-offs are now gone. If we had won today and other results had gone for us then the play-offs were a distnt but still achievable target. Now they aren't. Simples. The reason for this is that we simply did not get it together quickly enough this season, our first 10 games were very poor, and on top of the 10 point deduction we have not receovered. Since then our form has been and remains good enough for Top 3, but you can't hide from the start of the season problems. We need to also acknowledge that we are missing 2 important players, Hammond and Connolly. Connolly was always a gamble, but he proved to be an absolute gem, but its becoming clear that we may not see him again much. Losing your captain is also a massive blow, and his injury seems to be worse than originally expected. Still, looking forward to Tuesday and getting to Wembley, confident that we will do it. Maybe now I care a little more about the Pompey game, because I want to see us carry on unbeaten and increase our confidence, we need to end the season on a high even if the play-offs are now a dream. Interesting to see Neil Danns scored another well taken goal to help Palace to 3 more points today. Almost from day 1 a lot of people myself included have been calling for the midfield to get sorted. We have brought in a hell of a lot of players and still don't seem to have our midfield sorted. The midfield is going to be his downfall more than anything. my hope is that once the cup games are finished we can get our teamrunning smoothly and we can see some improvement. I actually agree with what you put about the midfield - As someone who has only missed 5 league games this year, I know what you are on about. Some of his subs have been odd to say the least, and our midfield often does not fire on all cylinders every match. Fair point. And for the record, the bit about 'Pardew out' was sarcasm. Anyway bring on this week and lets get two wins so we have something to show for the rejuvenation this season!
