Fergie Posted 7 June, 2010 Share Posted 7 June, 2010 This may have been mentioned already, and sorry if it has, but does anyone know if membership cards will be back this season? Thanks.
Shroppie Posted 7 June, 2010 Share Posted 7 June, 2010 It's mentioned briefly in the paragraph just above prices here: http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10280~2062493,00.html but not available until July after the deals on Season tickets end ........... The9 Posted 7 June, 2010 Share Posted 7 June, 2010 I am at a bit of a loss to work out what the benefits of this will be when we're not likely to be selling out anyway - I am hoping its not going to be the right to buy a ticket ahead of ST holders, meaning ST holders will have to apply too - but I readily accept that I'm biased in that one. I think you can pretty much guarantee that there will have to be a reason for buying one to squeeze a bit more cash out. Something like 'only members and season ticket holders will qualify for any potential wembley tickets, there will be no general database sale '

Kingsland Nick Posted 7 June, 2010 Share Posted 7 June, 2010 Something like 'only members and season ticket holders will qualify for any potential wembley tickets, there will be no general database sale ' How likely is it that we will play at Wembley next season? We would hope to get automatic promotion, the FL Trophy would be a distraction and very few League One clubs play at Wembley in the FA Cup or League Cup. Alanh Posted 7 June, 2010 Share Posted 7 June, 2010 Exactly and for those fans that want to pay at the gate away from home to avoid the ticket tax there will be no record on their customer accounts. You realise that buying in ash on the day is usually the most expensive way to buy a ticket so you will probably end up paying more if you do this. Also, the £3 booking fee is per transaction. If the ticket office make 10 matches available for sale you could buy your ticket to each of them in one transaction and cut your 'ticket tax' to 30p per ticket - a pretty reasonable transaction fee. I suspect however that your protest is more about shouting for the sake of being heard.

Going up by automatic promotion is by no means a formality, don't set yourself up for a fall mate. JPT trophy is very achievable, considering we are one of the strongest teams in the competition and the Southern section being the weaker one. And anyway, I was just giving an example, the point I was making is that the club will think of something which means you HAVE to buy a membership. Probably a limit on the amount of games you can buy - I.e - In batches of 3 or something.
Shroppie Posted 7 June, 2010 Share Posted 7 June, 2010 I used to be a member for the simple reason that I live a distance from Southampton and can make a limited number of home games, so a season isn't cost effective. However, I'm a regular supporter and buying tickets used to be easier with a membership and it also meant that you got the second chance of tickets for big games after season ticket holders - that was an important factor for me too. What I'm slightly miffed about is that we have the hint that membership is returning but no details of the benefits. Just discount vouchers? Or early booking if we get to Wembley? Big difference. And no cost yet. I did get a season ticket last season and will be renewing in all probability whilst it's cheaper as I can't guarantee that membership will do what I need. If I wait until July 1st to think about a membership and find it doesn't give any buying privileges I'll be facing a more expensive season ticket. Deliberate ploy by Nicola or what? Exactly, me too. Glad the membership scheme is coming back (assuming it is roughly the same as it used to be). No point buying a ST but I would like the opportunity of jumping the queue to whatever extent possible for popular games.

Memberships have always been between ST holders and general sale. also makes the club a little extra money pretty much for nothing really. The reason i am getting one is for away games with small allocation and for big home games if we get far in the cup. nearly missed out on MK dons JPT, plus the final at wembley AND aparantly bought the very last ticket to saints pompey. a membership may have saved the stress!! Think we should have a rewards scheme on memberships too, like Chelsea do. For example, a friend went to see them play a League one club inj the cup a couple seasons ago (think maybe vs huddersfield at stamford bridge) and he got 10 loyalty points, but you get less for seeing the big games. then when tickets arereleased there are differet stages for the fans who have more loyalty points than others to gt tickts to games. Saves all the 'so called' fans coming out of the woodwork for the better games.

Lord Duckhunter Posted 7 June, 2010 Share Posted 7 June, 2010 I think memberships are a great idea and after the Pompey ticket farce, where you only have had to have been to 1 previous game, will make ticket distribution fairer. I would like to see it set at a high level, with some sort of money off for games. Maybe £30 and no £3 transaction charge for tickets . That means go to 10 games and you get your money back. mancsaint Posted 7 June, 2010 Share Posted 7 June, 2010 Will the club allow the purchase of tickets to all home scheduled league games for the season or restrict sales to a month or so in advance. If you were only on the database last season you could only by home tickets 12days before that KO, not much chance of multiple purchases there. Have they? I ask as I'm completely unsure, but I thought when we had the membership scheme when we were in the Prem, tickets were issued to members, then ST holders to purchase an additional ticket, then general sale?? Either that or I'm remembering it completely wrongly...

Agree, and given that we hardly ever sell out in this league I can't see the membership scheme being worth administering if it is only about preference on the priority list for scarce tickets. Something that means that members don't pay the £3 transaction fee would make perfect sense even set at £15.
Andy_Porter Posted 7 June, 2010 Share Posted 7 June, 2010 (edited) They will need to make some sort of reason to get one. If it's £20 and makes it a bit easier to get away tickets I'll probably get one. Edited 7 June, 2010 by Andy_Porter
Lord Duckhunter Posted 7 June, 2010 Share Posted 7 June, 2010 They will need to make some sort of reason to get one, I can't think of any reason to get one. Still if it's £20 and makes it a bit easier to get away tickets I'll probably get one. I'm sure Cup and play off tickets will be ST holders first, followed by members, and then the data base. In my opinion that makes it worthwhile despite it costing me £42.00 (if my memory serves) for the family last time they ran it.

But if you have planned ahead and arrived early enough at the current game to buy the tickets for the next game, there will be no £3.00 transaction charge. So those who plan ahead will lose out using your scheme.
