the goalie question ...

seems to be the real discussion point in the run up to the Cheltenham tie.

Yes KD is on good form, nice penalty save Kelv. but sometime we have to play Bart - if only to give him a game.

Both he and Forecast are well over 21 but can only get an outing in U21 side as over-age players, but with no Reserves side and only kick-about style friendlies they'll go stale on the bench. No reflection on KD, but let him have a quiet day on the bench and watch instead.

Cheltenham may not be a "walk-over ", but if we are forced to play Bart sometime, I'd prefer it was against Cheltenham..and not Chelsea...

and NA can see him in action.

Next week ? ..back to normal regardless even if he saves... 3 penalties. Kelvin is our no.1..... by a street.

Forecast is dire, forget him. He'll find his level in non-league.

Bart is good. People moan about mistakes, conveniently forgetting all of Kelvins, and any other keeper for that matter. Bart is still very young for a keeper and has had far more good games that bad. He's shown excellent potential, so we really should give him a game. He's another one I can see leaving and ending up in the league above. He's easily good enough to be a regularly in this league anyway.

Davis is a good shot stopper, as a professional keeper damn well should be. He hasn't made any terrible mistakes for a while, but I'm still not confident in his commanding the box or claiming from corners. I also have doubts about some of the near post goals he's conceded. But for this league, he's amongst the best clearly. It just seems people seem to exagerrate his ability and then knock Bart's down, when there aren't that far apart.

He may well be but how do we know?

I agree that Bart should get a game tomorrow. He is good keeper - as your reserve has to be - but I have not really seen anything in his appearances to suggest he should routinely be in ahead of KD. In the final analysis they have both now played under 6 managers and they have all preferred KD over Bart. That must tell us something.

Bart should play !

It is out of order that he can't get the odd appearance IMHO !

He has played at a much higher level than v Cheltenham Town and (given that we should do most of the attacking anyway!) surely wouldn't let us down !

I just think that it must be demoralising, permanently waiting for KD to pick up an injury !!

I posted this on the 'Build Up' thread but thought that it is probably more relevant on here !

Really?

How many games have you seen Bart play?

And how many games have you seen Kelvin play?

...and you say Kelvin has made more gaffes?

I'm really glad none of our managers has agreed with your claim that they aren't far apart.

Of course they see them all the time in training. When did you last see Bart play?

It seems to me that there's a lot of Kelvin knockers, and Bart fans that talk based on emotions rather than facts.

Still glad to see Bart get a chance today though.

I have no axe to grind against either keeper, but felt yesterday that Bart had a couple of "should I stay or should I go" moments, and seemed to be taking his lead from the defenders and not dominating the area and letting them know what he is going to do, Bart may have great potential but IMO hes not ready "to go" now

This will only come by playing regularly with the defence. He is a very good keeper and far too good to be sat on the bench in League One week in week out.

But surely Scott, a good keeper, no matter what age, should dominate the area AND the defenders around him, he seemed to be taking Fonte's lead and first half thats what led to him getting injured if he had gone for the ball when he should have then the collision would have been avoided, but its true he needs to play more regularly but its very much the chicken and the egg

I agree. It looked to me that this was the cause of his injury. From where I was sat (in the Chapel) you saw him start to go out to collect the ball, then stop, then start again. By then Fonte & the striker were almost on top of him and the striker pushed Fonte into Bart. Had he not stuttered he would have collected the ball relatively comfortably. His kicking was not great either, on a couple of occasions they went to nobody, or 'flat' & one barely made the centre circle.

I like Bart, but he is still "Work in Progress", I don't think Kelvin has too much to worry about.....yet.

However he caught the one deep cross early on so there were no more hit into the box. He also made the one difficult save he had to make. His kicking is adequate and his understanding with the defence is wrong to criticise as it's his first game fo about a year and never with this back four.
