fanimal Posted 16 January, 2011 Share Posted 16 January, 2011 Several points; Having watched both Oldham and Notts in 5 days, we are better set up for away games at the moment IMO; We get more space and our defence is good enough to win the ball and pass it out quick (See Fontes tackle and pass to RL for the 6th goal). We should get at least 7/9 from Tranmere (near bottom 4) Exeter, (good away support) and Pboro (let in 25 at home!), we know Adkins and the team wil be after 9. At least we have a rest for a week now; Exeter play at Swindon when we play Man U, so that wil be a cup tie for them as well.
saints-cris Posted 16 January, 2011 Share Posted 16 January, 2011 Tranmere has to be 3 points.. Exeter is guna be tricky as there very good at home.. and Peterborough may be harder as Ferguson may have got his teeth into them by then. Hopefully not though. However if we want to go up, we have to be getting 7 at least I think.
Nexstar Posted 16 January, 2011 Share Posted 16 January, 2011 Teams come to St. Mary's and, like we saw yesterday, are happy with a point. They don't like defending for a draw in front of their home crowd and therefore tend to try and play football a bit more, like we saw at Oldham. Exeter and Peterborough will be very strong tests, but Tranmere will be no pushovers.
channonball Posted 16 January, 2011 Share Posted 16 January, 2011 10 out of the next 14 games are away. We need to average 2 points per game in my opinion.
VectisSaint Posted 16 January, 2011 Share Posted 16 January, 2011 We've won 3 of our last 4 away, don't see any reason to fear a string of away games. More concerned that we need to win our home league games.
WATERSIDEIFASAINT Posted 16 January, 2011 Share Posted 16 January, 2011 The 10 away games are Tranmere,Exeter,Peterborough,Rochdale,Hartlepool,Walsall,Colchester,Bournemouth,Charlton amd Plymouth. I would be vey disappointed if we did not win at least 5/6 of those.By the time we play Hartlepool,Colchester and Bournemouth they are all likely to be going backwards due to the squad sizes.I bet some will look at these fixtures and say we should win all 10!! K,Billy's supersound Posted 16 January, 2011 Share Posted 16 January, 2011 i think it may actually help the team playing to be playing away from our own fans and without such high expectations. yesterday every time the play broke down or a pass was misplaced it was very noticeable the groans and sighs from sections of our fans. i have no fears of the team ability to play and win away from home just hope we arn't 3-0 up at halftime on saturday

alpine_saint Posted 16 January, 2011 Share Posted 16 January, 2011 We are going to struggle through these games without Lallana. Keeping my fingers crossed he is back after the run of 3 or during it, otherwise we may well be well off the pace when he does come back.

We could and should, man for man our players are better than all of those. We wont win them all but we should win at least half of those, our away record so far this season suggest that that is the minimum we should expect. Fan The Flames Posted 16 January, 2011 Share Posted 16 January, 2011 Lallana is an important part of of team so if we haven't got anyone else to step up the mark then we need to splash the cash.

Turkish Posted 16 January, 2011 Share Posted 16 January, 2011 Lallana is head and shoulders the best player in this league and should be playing at a higher level FFS. All our other promotion rivals seem to do alright without a player of his ability, yet we will slide down the table FFS. Of course we'll miss him for however long he is out, who wouldn't, but it doesn't mean our season will implode or we need to spend millions on a replacement. FFS. Teams tend not to park the bus at home, their fans dont like it and there is an expectation of winning your home games......(see above;) )
