Thoughts....

1. Adkins is right. Lallana is the best player in L1.

2. Kelvin FFS! You could beat him at the near post with a throw in.

3. We seem to be making hay from set pieces recently. Whoever said we never score from corners can keep schtum now.

4. Jaidi. Well taken goal, bit lardy lookng though. Work on the celebration chap.

5. Barnard MUST start ahead of Guly. That finish was quality and it's not like it was a one off either.

1. Agreed, with Knobs on. he gives us more of an edge I think, otherwise, although we do struggle slightly without him, we are one dimensional.

2. He could do with some more training on getting down close to the posts, as this is his weakness. On Shot stopping he is V good.

3. I like the set pieces that we are doing now. Keeps the opposition onn their toes.

4. I know they say the camera adds 10 lb, but how many cameras were on him? And perhaps he doesn't score enough to have a 'victory dance'. Now he has a chance to practice one. Perhaps he could mime eating a pie?

5. I totally agree and have been harping on about him starting for a while. Perhaps with Guly just behind, but definatly at the kick off.

I think Harding can take a slice of blame for their goal. He left his man to try and close down another player, realised he couldnt make it, and tried to get back to the original player. But in doing this he gave Richie so much space to run into and recieve the pass. Kelvin could possibly have done better, but like me, he was probably expecting the shot across the goal rather than at the near post. Victor Valdes conceeded at his near post against Arsenal the other week. Its just one of those things. As long as it doesnt happen too often, I dont think its really an issue.

Seeing the highlights, I agree with this. Harding seems terribly out of position and then doesn't get tight enough to stop the shot. Kelvin should have saved it, but the defence should have done more too.

I also didn't appreciate the incredibly tight angle Barnard scored from. Into the starting XI...surely?

I don't really see how Harding can be blamed for their goal, it was just a run of the mill pot shot which our glorious club captain failed to get down for. Seems that KD has real problems with daisy cutters on his left hand side.

He just seemed to be caught miles out of position so when they switched play he was playing catch up; it looked terrible from the Itchen.. I think the whole team were too concerned with a decision not given for us when they won the ball (their defender was climbing on Lambert, although he was backing in)...

Yes we were all too far forward, Chaplow loses a header(I think,it's definitely he but the height of the ball is hard to see, will be better on the all angles covered) and after that it's just a comedy of errors.

Agree mostly but Guly didn't have a bad game at all - hit the post, narrowly wide a couple of times and some lovely touches not shown on the highlights - again, we're fortunate to have quality options available.

Indeed. He got the assist for the first goal and played pretty well. Barnard does look to be in pretty lethal form though and wins us a lot of free kicks.

Sometimes you just get a feeling as you watch it all happen that the opposition would be in. As soon as they started appealing for not giving a foul it looked like a trademark Saints lapse of concentration...

I sit level with the half-way line at to me their goal was Harding's fault. He was in the middle of the park, lost the ball and wasn't in position to tackle their guy going down the right.

Probably true, but ultimately, and especially at this level, the defence will give away chances. It was a half chance at best, that's where you need the keeper to do his job. I think the defence should be reasonably comfortable allowing long shots at the near post, they'd all expect it to be dealt with. Errors and poor concentration yes, but at worst the outfield players gave away a half chance.

Strange that our entire defence was concentrated in the right hand side of the pitch though,I'd have shouted "Grapes" at them.

Of course their goal was Harding's fault. I sit in the Northam and said "Bad move Harding" as soon as he charged for the ball, forgetting about Ritchie.

That said, I do rate Harding.

But you love hard ons ;)

**edit** I thought you said you hate harding. But my point still stands.
