EBS1980 Posted 13 April, 2011 Share Posted 13 April, 2011 Anyone know why DC wasn't even on the bench last night? Should get this guy for the rest of the season: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/b/barnsley/9456861.stm

SuperMikey Posted 13 April, 2011 Share Posted 13 April, 2011 Would be good on a free - wonder why it hasn't "worked out" for him at Barnsley - it can't be just the lack of goals.

Lighthouse Posted 13 April, 2011 Share Posted 13 April, 2011 Connolly has I think one league goal in a year and a half. He's not fit and he wont bring anything to the team that Barny, Forte, Guly and Lambert don't already have between them.
John McGrath's Jockstrap Posted 13 April, 2011 Share Posted 13 April, 2011 DC would be fine but the tartan rug keeps getting stuck in the wheels when trying to get on the pitch.
dickyhale Posted 13 April, 2011 Share Posted 13 April, 2011 managed only four goals in 23 games

Is that him trying to get onto the pitch from the treatment room? 'Tis where he spends most of his time, which is a pity, because.....

Barry the Badger Posted 14 April, 2011 Share Posted 14 April, 2011 I am going to break with tradition and say that not only does David Connoly spend most of his time in the treatment room, but I don't really think he brings that much to the team when he does play. adrian lord Posted 14 April, 2011 Share Posted 14 April, 2011 The last thing we need is a crocked journeyman in the sunset of his career to come in and **** off the established strike force in the run-in.
The9 Posted 14 April, 2011 Share Posted 14 April, 2011 The last thing we need is a crocked journeyman in the sunset of his career to come in and **** off the established strike force in the run-in. Although as Garry O'Connor is 27, he's hardly in the sunset of his career, and he's scored in the Championship recently, which implies he's not crocked either. As noted above, he has played for 2 different clubs who held his registration already this season though, so we can't play him even if we sign him. If it wasn't for that, he'd be ideal in this situation, something to prove, a decent striker at a higher level with no problem signing a short term contract and not long to prove it in. Could be worth a trial in the summer at least.
