Adam Lallana

Think he has started to add some maturity to his play this season, and especially since coming back from this latest knock.

Also think that he is "Happy" in this team. Meaning in that he is given a structure and a role but is asked to (and able to) express himself. Not to the extent where the Team is built around him, but where he knows he can take risks and try things.

He will do well to remember that come the summer. IMHO there won't not be many teams above us where he would get that freedom (for example at someone like Bolton or Stoke)

watched the Brighton extended highlights on Saints player and he got the ball in the Brighton box and three players converged on him and in an instant he shifted the ball to his right foot and the all 3 Brighton players were taken out of closing him down and he got his shot away and a Brighton player managed to get his head in the way and stop the ball from going into the top right hand corner of the net.Would love to see him turn it on today and he is due a goal or 2.

I noticed the same thing, last week against Hartlepool. At one point he had the ball on the edge of the area and at least 4 or 5 pool players were trying to close him down. It looked a bit like that famous pic of Maradona against Belgium. He then was able to keep the ball, change direction and shift it to the over lapping Dan Harding. I said to my mate at the time, just having him on the pitch creates so much more room for the likes of Gully and Lambert.

In terms of football skill and technique, out of all the Saints players I have seen since I started going to matches (89/90) only Matt Le Tiss can compare. AL's first touch with either foot is nearly always perfect. His balance and ability to make space and retain possession is top class. People will say he "lacks pace" but he is faster than Matty, for sure. I doubt he will ever make the impression that someone like Bale has made (Bale is a physical exception) and, agreeing with Arab Philip, I doubt he will ever get given a fair crack at a Prem club - unless he gets there with us!

Um rod Wallace, ronnie ekelund, berkovic, fernandez? They all did it in premier league. He is a very good player but not in the same league as matty. Le tiss had a better left foot and right, scored more goals. Better range of passing and more skillful. Mattys end product was in a different league. Let's not get carried away benji.

I said he has better technique than Wallace, Ekelund, Berkovic etc... that doesn't mean he will turn out to be a "better" player but it's obvious that he could be.

I would be surprised if he's better than Wallace. He won chamionship and scored 21 goals for us from the wing in top flight. I don't think you were saying he was as good as matty were you?

I don't think many would argue that he's very likely to be the best player in this division technically and quite capable of playing at a higher level - which he already has of course. If we must talk about his limitations then I suppose he's not outstandingly quick (or strong for that matter) but this lad is as fit as a butchers dog and has the stamina to run for you all day - just as (if not more) importantly his attitude towards the game is absolutely 'spot on' as well.

You often get players with good ability but the wrong attitude - like Jason Puncheon for instance - and (more commonly) players with a great attitude but not enough ability (like Paul Wotton) but Adam Lallana gets pretty close to having it all. Could he play in the Premier League then? You never really can tell for sure until they try it, but for what its worth I think he could already be playing for a mid table Prem outfit.

We're lucky to still have him.

No, I'm saying Matty is the only Saints player I have personally seen with the same level of technique and natural skill.

I would say mattys levels of technique and skill were a few levels higher than adams though. Dont get me wrong the guy is class but matty was another level altogether. Mattys end product was a different class but hopefully adam will improve his.

Yes, indeed.

MLT must be one of the best strikers of a football ever. In terms of his ability to casually stroke the ball into the top corner from 30 yards with little space or thinking time only Lambert, of our current players, has a similar ability (but several degrees lower, of course).

He is class. His work rate is phenomenal and that where he makes up for his lack of pace. The last minute against MK Dons where he was the only player chasing their players down preventing a cross showed his determination and stamina.

My one criticism is when it comes to him having a strike on goal, he seems to often take one too many touches before shooting. It seems he wants to find that extra bit of space but I think he would be better off having a crack. Something that will need to be worked on more if he is to play at a higher level.

I agree that his general striking on goal is the major area he can improve his game.

He often scuffs his shot or it lacks real power.
