Morgan fears Chamberlain exit

Recommended Posts

Sadly we are going to see this sort of thing on a daily basis from now until either (a) it happens (b) the summer transfer window closes.

and it's a bloody long time till Sep 1st as well.

I think the BBC have just realised that the quotes from his mum (Wendy) on Saturday are important and have made them available.

IMO the 34 seconds says he is staying, perhaps the London press should listen to them.

Exactly, the papers will be as desperate to "sell him" this summer as they were in January.....exclusive after exclusive which all ultimately turned out be be b*llocks. From the factual stuff we know, the club want him to stay, he wants to stay and his parents are happy for him to stay - on this basis I don't think we should be worried although I bet the tabloid papers won't report any of the post match interviews to this effect as it will not fit in with their "sell him/sell papers" agenda.

This is lifted from The Sun. The Sun have already this season made up quotes that Saints players didn't say. If you watch the Saints player video of Morgan Schneiderlin he makes no comment about Chamberlain, when exactly were these quotes meant to have been from? I doubt the Sun sent a journalist to interview Saints players after the game, they would just use quotes given on Saints player/to the BBC or just made them up to stir things...

There are a couple of lines on the BBC site about Ox, seems to think it was important to get a run out on Saturday because 'I've got the Euro U21 this summer".Must be hoping to be added to the squad later on then as he's not in the 40 announced the other day.

He is going to the Euro under 19 tournament.

we're going to get a lot of media pressure over the summer, with Alex, then Lallana and Pardew at a cash rich Newcastle making overtures towards Lambert.

Adding this to us being touted as the ManCity of NPC and we're in for being linked with every tom, **** and harry who's agent wants to generate a move/contract renewal who doesnt fit into any kind of rational arguement as to why saints would want them.

All to fill column inches, build hysteria and serve to do a few agents here and there some favours owed by dodgy journo's who have had a scoop or two in the past.

the football industry stinks :(

Call me a cynic...but IMO, it says he is staying IF significant wedge is put on the table......comments about staying 'if everything is in order' and 'happy so far' lead me to believe there are expectations still to be resolved.

Plenty of NPC clubs will spend far more than us this coming summer. We shall be one of the poor relations.Probably because we just don't need much by way of reinforcements.

A RB and a CB will do to start with.

yup, thats the rational and realistic appraisal. Doesnt sell papers though, you can see that from that CDAJFU thread that theres an appitite for transfer activity.

I think that Rangel would be a good improvement at RB, not that I think our existing ones are that bad, better than Tjaito, Ostlund and Wright. Nathan Clyne is not a bad shout either, but I think he will be off to a Premiership Club.

When I see Nicola and Nigel posting on there I'll take notice of it. All I see there is lists of out of contract players...half of whom aren't in fact out of contract.

Rangel re-signed with Swansea last December

What is that based on?

Certainly not this...

We will sign a few players 2/3 maybe, total cost may be 2/2.5 million but compared to some that will be peanuts.I have no idea whatsover how much Norwich spent on signing on fees, transfers etc this season but I wouldn't be surprised to hear that it was in the region of 5 million £.We won't spend anywhere near that mainly because we don't need to.We have already 6 or 7 players who are far better than your average NPC journeyman.

Norwich didn't spent anywhere near £5m. Most of their transfers came from the lower leagues.

Saints in the past two years have spent close to £5m on transfers/loans/agent fees/signing on fees. Now they are in a league which gives you £4m extra in TV money each year, larger attendances, more sponsorship, more solidarity payments etc etc.

I think you'd be surprised if the figures for the Jackson and Surman deals were made public.

Everybody seems to have this idea that Norwich have built an uber team from a collection of tinkers, tailors and candlestick makers. They haven't, it cost them quite a lot of money IMHO.

I thought Morgan was an Arsenal player all along and he was with us on some complicated loan deal?

That was gospel truth from some of the cast-iron ITK bull-shi te merchants on this forum not that long ago. Rumour built mainly on the fact that Morgan is French and, err, it sounded like something clever and a steward told me in the pub.

Anyone who was peddling that guff care to explain how come Morgan doesn't yet look like pulling on a Gunners shirt?

George Prost knew of Morgan,he suggested that he was an exceptional young French international and Rupert Lowe signed him on 4 year contract, one now remaining. Probably his best piece of business. The family Schneiderlin live in the same village that Arsene comes from and know him ,so will show an interest and keep up with his progress.. This as far as I know is the story so far.

Not exactly DG, Morgan is from Zellwiller and Wenger is from Duttenheim which is about 18 km further north.

And it is inconceivable that two families living less than 20kms apart know each other? Or do you just enjoy being a pedant early in the morning? ;)

sorry for the pedantry then if you see it as that. Morgan was playing for Strasbourg at 5 (no,not in the first team) Wenger will certainly know him and has probably met the parents. Before he came here Morgan was one of the great hopes of French football but Mombaerts attitude to him playing in League 1 changed all that.

Rangel is not better than what we already have, IMO of course.

I agree, and I think after the year he has had that it would be fair of Saints to renegotiate his contract. Stick another couple of years on the end and offer him more money.
