1976_Child Posted 26 October, 2008 Share Posted 26 October, 2008 Southampton 'till I die and all that but I have to take my hat off to Hull. They are sitting THIRD in the Prem tonight. My God, if only...... Go on Hull, get yourselves into Europe for next season. Well played so far.. Any one else want to wish them well with me? alpine_saint Posted 26 October, 2008 Share Posted 26 October, 2008 Agree completely. Hull City are an inspiration to other clubs. With the support of a good chairman and a decent manager, the monopoly of the big 4 can be broken

With the support of a good chairman and a decent manager, the monopoly of the big 4 can be broken Yes Hull are an inspiration to other clubs but the size of the club suggests they will not compete with the big 4 unless they find an owner willing to put the money in to challenge the top teams. There are plenty of teams just outside of the big four but they find it difficult to break into the bracket, good luck to them anyway.

Wes Tender Posted 26 October, 2008 Share Posted 26 October, 2008 Rather puts into perspective them beating us 5-0 towards the end of the season under Pearson. For all those jokers who used it as a stick to beat Pearson with, it wasn't that long ago.
Saint_Si Posted 26 October, 2008 Share Posted 26 October, 2008 Aye, fair ****s to them. An inspiration to us all. It really shows what determination, team spirit and organisation can do for a club. All done with **** all money too...

Roman Posted 26 October, 2008 Share Posted 26 October, 2008 Yep, it brightens my day to see them flying. Still, we've unearthed our own Phil Brown in Nigel Pearson and... ...the rest is not history.
Barney Trubble Posted 26 October, 2008 Share Posted 26 October, 2008 Wish they would loan us Dean Windass. Yep.He's never been the greatest footballer that ever graced the Premiership but you can't buy positive attitude, commitment and sheer determination. That's what Windass has always had and those three thing's are just some of the ingredients that are underpinning Wigans current success. Maybe if we had a few more players who are prepared to sweat and give all to the cause then our position might not look so precarious. Good luck Hull as its great to see them doing what they are doing and I hope they keep it up. I'd LOL if they took a Champions league spot off the teams that think it's solely for them. Poshie72 Posted 26 October, 2008 Share Posted 26 October, 2008 Its geat seeing a 'little team' like Hull up in 3rd. My step-fathers father would be so proud today if he was still around. He was a big Hull fan and the stick that I would be getting now would be intolerable
swannymere Posted 26 October, 2008 Share Posted 26 October, 2008 **** me, who's been handing out the uppers? It's ****ing great that a little team like Hull can have their moment in the spotlight but comments like 'They're an inspiration to us all' show what a ****ing dreamland some of you cuunts live in. It won't last, they'll be bottom half come the FA Cup final but they will have done themselves, the city and the fans proud. When they have a tough time in the second season do you think their fans will be fickle like us? and demand the sacking of the manager, board or a particular they blame everything on? You're a bunch of ferkin mentalists
Marsdinho Posted 26 October, 2008 Share Posted 26 October, 2008 I think they are doing well, but surely you have all seen this before... Wimbledon, Bolton, Reading to name a few. It the classic "first season in the prem" scenario. Next year they will get relegated.
stardustonmyfeet Posted 26 October, 2008 Share Posted 26 October, 2008 Didn't Millwall do a similar thing twenty years ago? Doubtfull if Hull can stay where they are until Easter, but in this day and age it gives teams like us great hope. It does bother me slightly that until that 5-0 defeat though, I always regarded them as an easy three points... I remember 4-2, 4-0 as being recent scores. How is it that we've been drifting aimlessly towards the abyss while a little club can come up from the lower leagues, match us, and then leave us for dust. Mind you, the rest of the league's thinking the exact same thing.

With the support of a good chairman and a decent manager, the monopoly of the big 4 can be broken Let's see where they are next season and the season after that shall we Alpine, or is your famous crystal ball fired up again? The harsh reality is that you need more than a good manager and chairman to sustain a lengthy challenge in the Prem. They have had a great run so far but I would hardly call a good start to the season breaking the monopoly of the big 4. If they are still up there in a few years time you have a point, frankly I think they are more likely to do a Reading (who also had a good Chairman and a good manager). A perfectly good post by sog which you choose to ignore rather than answer some of the points he mentioned, or is it only you that is allowed an opinion on a subject and if someone posts otherwise you put them on ignore because you don't have answers. Some of the points you made in your original post were spot on but you have to look at the bigger picture.

dubai_phil Posted 26 October, 2008 Share Posted 26 October, 2008 Well done to Hull, it's great fun and good to watch. It also make muppets of the ITK'er types who inhabit our tv screens as pundits. But as others have said, over the years many teams have started well and then hardly earned a point after Christmas. They're on a roll now, enjoy the ride, but a few injuries to the likes of Giovanni and they will be thanking their lucky stars that they had this start. But in their favour, I do like the fact that Phil Brown gives good interviews admitting this and rubbishing the Hull for the CL hype
