Huffton Posted 22 November, 2011 Share Posted 22 November, 2011 Tried to buy the boys shirts for xmas earlier. Completely sold out of any home shirt smaller than large. Asked when the next delivery is due, 'hopefully before xmas'. Inspired. Guess the shop is run by the same managagement team that 'run' the ticket office. Turkish Posted 22 November, 2011 Share Posted 22 November, 2011 (edited) This is obviously a sign of our growing profile in the middle east and Asia. Our millions of fans over there must be hoovering up all the stock in preperation for next season in the premier league. THis is great news and the club must be applauded for such strong sales in a difficult market. I went to Old Trafford recently for a wonder round when i was in Manchester. It was full of shirts and merchandise, no where near sold out. Yet more evidence how quickly we are growing as a club and closing in on Manchester Uniteds fan base in terms of size. This is fanstastic news for everyone associated with SFC. Edited 22 November, 2011 by Turkish

John Boy Saint Posted 22 November, 2011 Share Posted 22 November, 2011 Umbro have a production run for each team, the shop orders what it's requirement is based of sales records and when it is to be delivered. Last seasons shirt sold out what had been thought, based on previous seasons sales, would be a full seasons requirement before the season had even kicked off!!! They then had to wait for the next production window at Umbro before fresh supplies could arrive. I have noticed that there are a lot more nippers of both flavours at games this season, so I would imagine smaller shirts have been in greater demand. SaintBobby Posted 23 November, 2011 Share Posted 23 November, 2011 Disaster. With this sort of approach to the retail of children's clothing, all hope is clearly lost.

In a way I can understand them selling out of some bits, the club are exceeding all expectations on the pitch and that is clearly going to have a positive effect on sales. What gets me is that you would think they might at least have a clue when the next lot are due in, especially at this time of year. There could be a lot of very dissapointed kids on xmas morning. The9 Posted 23 November, 2011 Share Posted 23 November, 2011 Disaster. With this sort of approach to the retail of children's clothing, all hope is clearly lost. Just something to remember the next time someone uses the "Cortese is running the club as a PROPER BUSINESS" argument to justify raising charges on something that inconveniences customers. The9 Posted 23 November, 2011 Share Posted 23 November, 2011 (edited) In a way I can understand them selling out of some bits, the club are exceeding all expectations on the pitch and that is clearly going to have a positive effect on sales. What gets me is that you would think they might at least have a clue when the next lot are due in, especially at this time of year. There could be a lot of very dissapointed kids on xmas morning. I'm always bemused at people buying a one season kit as a Xmas gift, it's already had half of its run by then, you can guarantee the price will drop within 2 months and it's out of date within 4 months more. The exception is the sash kit, which was never reduced - and not restocked in October for retro sales as was suggested. That's another revenue stream being passed by, I'm sure a fair few people would have bought a commemorative Liebherr / League One promotion season shirt with some cheap embroidery on it at a premium cost if they were the only authentic Umbro sashes left that you could get. Just for the record, the club still doesn't have any away socks for sale either - even the Man City goalkeeper ones aren't the same as they have no Umbro logo, so there is literally no way of buying them. Oh, and the home socks are now 2 pairs for £8 on the JJB Sports website, provided you don't mind that they're also Wales home socks. Same goes for the GK socks. It'll be interesting to see whether our "Saints shops only" business model changes when the new kit deal gets signed next season, which is the last we're currently contracted to Umbro for. corky morris Posted 23 November, 2011 Share Posted 23 November, 2011 Whenever i buy Saints kits for the kids, I always think they are stupid money. But then as I watch all of them get handed down through my 3 boys onto my nephews & nieces I come round to thinking that they actually wear really well & get worn all the time at either football training, matches & just messing around. So for the amount of time they are used I actually think they become decent value.............
View From The Top Posted 23 November, 2011 Share Posted 23 November, 2011 My nipper gets more wear out of his Saints shirts, and footy shirts in general, than any other clothing!
