Mr X Posted 19 November, 2008 Share Posted 19 November, 2008 Get some kind of a result against reading? would be more than happy with a point. How long are we along with jan, gonna keep saying we played nice stuff at times but got nothing in the way of points? its like a broken record

NickG Posted 19 November, 2008 Share Posted 19 November, 2008 what do you mean -a 3-0 victory isn't that bad, as long as we play decent football I'll be completely satisfied;)

Chez Posted 19 November, 2008 Share Posted 19 November, 2008 if we stop playing nice fotoball will the results neccessarily change? Watford for example tend to hoof it long and they also have a side full of experience (the same can be applied to us last season) and they are still struggling. For me its not about swapping nice football for long ball, or indeed getting seasoned pros in to replace the kids. What we need to do is mix things up a little. Some of Schneiderlins long angled balls caused Wolves real problems on Saturday and got us into attacking positions much quicker than passing from back to front very time. We need a bit more of this and also a few mroe direct balls as well as that caused Wolves problems as well. Short passing all the time is not the answer and at times it gets us into real trouble even just from Davis shot passes from the area. As for getting old heads in I'm not convinced that is the answer either. I wouldn't swap Wotton for Surman for example. What we need is better quality not a higher age. Players like James, Gobern, Thompson, Pekhard and Smith have shown to be just not good enough (yet). Better quality replacements whatever their age is what we need. rocknrollman no2 Posted 19 November, 2008 Share Posted 19 November, 2008 Actually i think we will lose 4-0,but their manager will say after the game that we have played the best football hes seen in a while. But im still going anyway(we will be in the white limo) and im going to sing as loud as i can for as long as i can.
Charlie Wayman Posted 19 November, 2008 Share Posted 19 November, 2008 This is a 4-0 drubbing minimum.
Window Cleaner Posted 19 November, 2008 Share Posted 19 November, 2008 I think we'll put in a decent show but lose 2-0. We just have to find a consistent line up, build some confidence and starting winning at home. Games like Reading away are bonus games for us. No points can be expected there. Sooner or later we will start scoring, probably not at Reading though. If we can transform our tries, we'll be hard to beat. They'll be a few 4-3 wins though unless Svensson is really up to the job someday soon;
Yate Saint Posted 19 November, 2008 Share Posted 19 November, 2008 To get anything would be an achievement. You never know. But, I'm more worried about the Plymouth game, because we really do need a win.

um pahars Posted 19 November, 2008 Share Posted 19 November, 2008 I just think that when you least expect it, something will come up. I reckon Reading will have the balance of play, the majority of chances, but we will come away with a point. 1-1 with Surman scoring late on. the saint in winchester Posted 19 November, 2008 Share Posted 19 November, 2008 Realistically I'd have to predict 5-nil to Reading. As I work on Green Park, in the shade of the Madjeski, I kind of have to keep the guys n gals here sweet. I shall be there on Saturday. Hopefully I can park in the office car park, walk over, and see us get a draw or even ... no I can't even say it ...
Andy_Porter Posted 19 November, 2008 Share Posted 19 November, 2008 I've got a feeling we could get something up there. Either that or we will end the day with Doyle having scored more goals over the course of the season than our whole club. Lets hope Doyle gets injured tonight. Dannyboy_Saint Posted 19 November, 2008 Share Posted 19 November, 2008 Very few teams are gonna find it possible to even draw, let alone win at the Madjeski this season so any sort of result would be phemoninal.
Saint Bones Posted 19 November, 2008 Share Posted 19 November, 2008 tough game - not that many of them are not. I guess a gutsy performance is all we can ask for and hope we get a point or three based on that performance. I wonder how many 'supporters' are hoping we lose this week too ! Not sure why but after the way we played against wolves i think we might carry on the good work and get the result that matches some of the effort. For me Morgan is the king pin in our team. His range of passing brings the player in the hole into the game as well as switching play from flank to flank. The opo's defence dont know if they should drop deep or push up cause his decissions to go for the long or short pass is often the best in our team. If we can get the 1st goal I think we are in for a shout at the 3 points but we will stuff up the good 3 points away by giving 3 points to plym in the next home game. alpine_saint Posted 20 November, 2008 Share Posted 20 November, 2008 We're gonna get tonked. Last week, we could use the ref as an excuse. This week it will be "was always going to be difficult to get a result from this fixture". Next weeks excuse ? Whatever it is, SFC and JP must be running on short supply of them. saint_bert Posted 20 November, 2008 Share Posted 20 November, 2008 I think we have to be realistic. They are riding high, with a very strong chance of automaic promotion. We however are a relegation batteling team. Anything against Reading is a bonus in my book. The real must win is Plymouth

Saintandy666 Posted 20 November, 2008 Share Posted 20 November, 2008 If we had our away form at home, we would proably be ok, a few places higher in the table. The problem is playing Mcgoldrick as a lone attacker. That's defensive play, we need attacking play if we want to score, espcially at home. Saintjersey Posted 20 November, 2008 Share Posted 20 November, 2008 I would be over the moon with a point, but Reading are crushing most teams at home. I can see this being a high scoring game.
