I did a cruise when youngest was 6 months old. Meant you got to travel and see different places without being in the car a lot, creche / babysitting on board, every where airconned, backup of medical facilities at hand. Cruise lines vary on minimum ages, whether you have to pay for child etc so need to check. Good option though.

View From The Top Posted 2 August, 2013 Share Posted 2 August, 2013 We were travelling with our youngest from when he was 6 months, and with subsequent kids. I would suggest that where you go depends very much on what you like, it didn't alter where we went, just meant more clobber to go with. Italy is very kid-centric and we found that made any break easier.

Channon's Windmill Posted 2 August, 2013 Share Posted 2 August, 2013 Weymouth is so good. Makes Bournemouth look a bit pointless. There is so much to do there and its a very nice place to be generally. We just got back from a week there with an 11 month old and he loved it. Weymouth Bay Holiday park is where its at! RedAndWhite91 Posted 2 August, 2013 Share Posted 2 August, 2013 Maybe for a 22 year old yes indeed. I'm an Ibiza man myself. South of France is nice in all seriousness near like Carcassonne and that, well chilled out down there.

My daughter and SiL had a villa in Ibiza in May half term this year with their 4 yo and a 6 month old. Not too hot for the little one and they had a great time. melmacian_saint Posted 2 August, 2013 Share Posted 2 August, 2013 (edited) The Algarve (the area east of Faro in particular or the hills to the north) is ideal, particularly around late June/July. Nice temperature for the young one, nice beaches and a few little towns where you can stay in peace and enjoy nice views while sipping some fine wine. Avoid in August though as it's when the Portuguese masses from the cities come for their own holidays. dubai_phil Posted 2 August, 2013 Share Posted 2 August, 2013 Eurocamp or it's equivalents are good with little ones. You can often get good deals on their mobile homes just go before the school rush. They're still going strong, used them last summer for me & the then FMDP to bumble round Italy South West France is great but also you can also bumble around Northern France, or into the Loire Valley for the Vinyards and food - neat part is you can simply load the car with all the baby stuff you think is essential rather than paying a fortune on "Low Cost airlines". May not work so well if you're oop north of course. But from here I did it with a rental car and a quick trip to a Carrefour for cheap disposable sheets & towels & stuff
Foxy Posted 2 August, 2013 Share Posted 2 August, 2013 Based on our experience I'd suggest: 1) go early and get jnr. ised to flying 2) night flight are best with kids - travel when they'd ordinarily sleep and, guess what, they do 3) early on on parenthood you'll be rushed off your feet. Go all inclusive resort style 4) trust me, long Gail is cheaper for point 3 5) Caribbean is your best bet for a resort 6) if you don't want a resort S Africa 1 million times more ban friendly than S Europe 7) if your misses is on maternity leave think about Xmas away - you can do a month off (2 weeks either side of anew Year) without busting either years' leave allowance. S Africa best for that too Hope that helps. BTW my best daddy holiday tip is this - until 2nd birthday kids fly free. After that they pay bit grt own seats. BUT if you're away FOR second birthday you get best if both worlds. As we found out to our advantage taking mini-Fox to Antigua for her second bday

We've done them all key camp , euro camp, haven , eurosites ( gone bust now) & canvas. Best value for mobile are canvas. Montpellier to Spainish border the best area we found. Great hols with little ones, we took all 4 of ours, the first time the youngest was 4 months. I would stikl go, but mrs duck wants more luxery now there's only 2 left at home.Doesnt like the work, reckons its no holiday for mrs. kept moaning about washing up the plates ECT after BBQ's , ffs I did the hard bit, cooking and entertaining the surrounding caravaners. I miss it, great laugh and met some great families.
John Boy Saint Posted 3 August, 2013 Share Posted 3 August, 2013 If you are happy self catering have a look at here http://www.campingkims.com/en/ Its a nice part of the World on a quiet and non commercial stretch of Coastline being close to the Pyrenees means that up until around July the temperature and weather can be a bit more tiny people friendly than further South (says a man who took his 8 month old to South Af.rica donkeys years ago) Ryanair fly direct into Girona about an hour away. Barcelona proper is 2 hrs away driving sensibly. All the rich Barcelonans come here for their weekend escapes. One of my customers with a sprout not long out of the "factory" came to this part of the world in late April early May and said that they loved it. If you like kiss me quick fish and chips washed down with Watneys Red Barrel ignore here like the plague, if you just want to unwind with ease give it a look. Even if you ignore here specifically it gives you and ideal of the area.
