The idea that European football being important in keeping our players has been a non stop theme brought forward by lots of forum contributors for the last two years. It's pretty much accepted wisdom on here.

But a journalist reports RK talking around that very subject and people on here start GETTING UPSET!!!!!!

Well done chaps.

Interesting as well as crucial as it removes the 'best' excuse that would be used by any stars agitating and angling for a money move in the summer. It would also certainly give us an indication of what we are up against for the next couple of seasons if we want to become regular features in the top five. I would be ecstatic if we could do it for Koeman first, but also for the myth busting!

To be fair fried From the moment in league one when our unstoppable march to the champions league in our 50,000 stadium where everyone pays a tenner to get was first muted opinion was split. There was also a camp that said no one would ever leave southampton because the academy players would want to play their entire careers with their mates, top players would come here because southampton is near the sea, the new forest and has an airport. They would all be devoted to the club following Corteses vision whilst ignoring bigger clubs and pay days. Our story would be just like Athletico Madrid and Dortmund, clubs with which we are virtually the English version of.

I don't see the problem. That is exactly what happened in my Football Manager 2010 Southampton save--although I have to admit it helped the Markus Liebherr kicked in a couple hundred million pounds every year.

It's interesting to note that a lot of the talk from Schneiderlin over the last 18 months has been about 'champions league football', yet recently it has changed to wanting to play for a 'big club one day', probably because he knows the champions league get out excuse may not be there in 6 months time.

We could win the league, champions league and FA Cup and they'd still want to leave for the money. I'd have more respect for them if they came out and said that, rather than continuously coming out with this European football talk nonsense that everyone knows is a smokescreen.

I'd love to be proven wrong this summer but it's all about money for 99.99% of them and they should all be more honest about it

You did not mention first team regulars. What is your new cut off then, as 15 appearances and 3 goals does not count?

You think he moved for more money?

I think there's every chance Jack will play as often for Swansea as he did for Saints. I strongly suspect he will make more money out of moving through signing on fees than he would have done here

Interesting to see what happens, but I think he will will start most games (which is why he left) as they dont have Morgan / Vic types blocking his path.

I don't see much distortion in the article apart from the degree of emphasis, nor do I see anybody being particularly upset by it.

After all, everybody can see this is an article from the BBC, which is famously impartial and always totally accurate in their reporting.

Some shooting from the hip going on up there, I reckon. Whipping out the automatic when it wasn't called for.

Personally, I think CB Fry seems more upset. We never got "our Tony Pulis" in the end. I expect he'll be inconsolable for the rest of Tony's tenure at the Hawthorns.
