Thedelldays Posted 30 December, 2008 Share Posted 30 December, 2008 I would have to say... one of the two that scott parker scored when we beat them 3-2 on sky... also..one of ronny rozenthal when we lost 6-2....it swerved all over the show..but then of course, brucie grobbelaar let it in.. Colinjb Posted 30 December, 2008 Share Posted 30 December, 2008 Of the ones I have been there to see, Stephen Carr's shot outside the box for Newcastle back in 2004 always seemed a particularly good one.
Weston Saint Posted 30 December, 2008 Share Posted 30 December, 2008 None of them. There is no good goal if it is scored against Saints so there cannot be a best one. Rephrase: What was the least bad goal
pilsburydoughboy Posted 30 December, 2008 Share Posted 30 December, 2008 Gazza at the Dell.If memory serves me correct he dribbled around all of our team and scored at the Milton Road end.
Big_Bald_Si Posted 30 December, 2008 Share Posted 30 December, 2008 I've seen a few crackers against us. For some reason, Tugay's belter in Strachan's first game in charge in Blackburns 2-1 win was pretty awesome for me.
John Boy Saint Posted 30 December, 2008 Share Posted 30 December, 2008 Matey for Forest's 2nd the other week that was a little bit special, and looking at the amount of people applauding it in the Kingsland alone they agree with me.

StuRomseySaint Posted 30 December, 2008 Share Posted 30 December, 2008 f*ck, you said against Saints, and because I refuse to pay my fiver, I can't even edit my post so my lack of paying attention is clear for all to see. Then again, the post was by TheDellDays so my not paying attention is fully justified.

Fowllyd Posted 30 December, 2008 Share Posted 30 December, 2008 I prefer your version, best goal by a saints player. I tend not to remember goals scored against us. I rarely remember goals scored against us, but one does stick in my mind. That was Dave Watson's thunderbolt volley for Stoke, not long after he'd signed for them - 1982 maybe. If memory serves, his goal was their second in an unlikely comeback that got them from 3-0 down to 3-3; Mark 'Albert' Whitlock got the winner for us though, a header from a corner. I don't remember the other goals at all, Stoke's or ours.
krissyboy31 Posted 30 December, 2008 Share Posted 30 December, 2008 Frannie Benali's diving header for Oldham? (I think) at the Milton end, was a cracker!
Simon_UK Posted 30 December, 2008 Share Posted 30 December, 2008 Van Nistelroy for Manchester United 2003. not for the finish, but for the build-up play, Silvestre played a 50 yard diagonal crossfield ball from Left back onto Beckhams foot, who played in Gary Neville on the overlap, Nevile crossed for Van Nistelroy to head home. all this just seconds after I had said to the season ticket holder next to me, that the diference between us and United was vision and awareness, and that they played balls we wouldn't even think of. I couldn't help thinking that if it had been Wayne Bridge at left back, would he have even thought of playing that ball?
Give it to Ron Posted 30 December, 2008 Share Posted 30 December, 2008 The attendance record was broken on 8 October 1969, when 31,044 watched Saints lose 3-0 to a Manchester United team which included George Best and Bobby Charlton. I think it was in the above game. One of the Best goals was awesome he just left a trail of defenders with awesome skill and balance that I havnt seen by anyone since well maybe Henry in full flow. Saint_clark Posted 30 December, 2008 Share Posted 30 December, 2008 I can't really remember most goals scored against us. Even that cracker for Forest the other day is a bit of a blur. Having said that, Adam Barrett (?) for Southend when we beat them 4-1 was a f*cking good goal.

AwaySaint1 Posted 30 December, 2008 Share Posted 30 December, 2008 After seeing Saints play since 1974 I think the best goal was Wayne Rooney when 2 stone overweight just back from injury for Everton he hit a real belter at grass height.
skintsaint Posted 31 December, 2008 Share Posted 31 December, 2008 Remember John Barnes scoring from long long range after a dodgy kick out by Beasant. Was a good finish, hit first time as well.

John Cool Posted 31 December, 2008 Share Posted 31 December, 2008 awesome header... michael bridges scored a goodun in that hatrick he got for leeds in 99 Wasn't that the game where Mark Hughes hit a very powerful shot straight into the net and back off the advertising boards behind the goal, but the ref thought he'd missed? John B Posted 1 January, 2009 Share Posted 1 January, 2009 I saw Alan Curtis score a goal for Leeds at the Dell where he beat loads of defenders . He then played for us but never was that good
