Mr X Posted 31 December, 2008 Share Posted 31 December, 2008 Say we stay up, whats going to change? Not a lot imo a) Lord smug face will still be here b) Puppet wilde will still be here c) the dutch revolution will still be here d) Young in-experienced players will still be here e) No investment will still be here f) divided fan-base will still be here g) Award winning catering will still be here What are our chances, should we stay up? how will we compete? will it be more of the same? buctootim Posted 31 December, 2008 Share Posted 31 December, 2008 The young inexperienced players wont be as young and inexperienced by one full season and some of the high paid players will have gone -freeing up a bit of money for new faces. If we survive this year I'd actually be quite optimistic about next season.

Mole Posted 31 December, 2008 Share Posted 31 December, 2008 Nothing will change which is why i couldn't care less if we go down. In fact relegation could be the best thing that could happen to us.

As anyone thought that some of the lower paid players might actually want a pay rise after a full year in the CCC and if we aren't prepared to give it to them, they might bngger off to a club that is? Legod Third Coming Posted 31 December, 2008 Share Posted 31 December, 2008 What is the point of survival? Survival, that is the point. FFS. Reminds me of that joke about why Beckham wears an ipod... "breathe in and breathe out..."

Relegation will mean starting on minus points next season as it would mean administration so we would be at best like Leeds last season mid table in div

If and when that happens i'll be well happy.

Stu Man Do Posted 31 December, 2008 Share Posted 31 December, 2008 Wanting administration? Yep that seems like a reasonable thing to say, nothing would stop Lowe buying back in on the cheap ala Ken Bates at Leeds and then we're back to square one except on minus points and in a lower division. I appreciate your right to an opinion Stanley but at least have a considered one! Lets face it can you see saints doing a leeds and knocking off those 15 points in quick time or doing a bournemouth and taking till xmas leading to another inevitable relegation? If we survive this year I'd actually be quite optimistic about next season. Plus there's some more TV money in the pipeline for next year. Bet we've already pawned that to Barclay's though. If they support us in just sufficient measure to survive this year we'll give them our extra 3 million TV money next year. Sounds plausible actually. Colinjb Posted 31 December, 2008 Share Posted 31 December, 2008 The theory must surely, as already mentioned, be that as the players we have grow older, develop and improve, so will we. But when the clubs policy is to be a cherry tree to those above with big wallets I don't know how that'll work.
cambsaint Posted 31 December, 2008 Share Posted 31 December, 2008 Our current "youth team" will be lucky to finish in the top half of CCC div1 and with no money to strengthen the squad we may well struggle to survive; our gates will fall dramatically and administration will be a certainty. Add on ten point deduction for admin we will probably be in CCC div 2 in two years- Thats how bad it really is.

Every club bar three are selling clubs, and even then, watch Ronaldo go scuttling off to Madrid in June... I don't mind getting a season out of good players. Prefer to keep them. But rather have a season of a Walcott than three of a Jermaine Wright...

ALWAYS_SFC Posted 31 December, 2008 Share Posted 31 December, 2008 Without a change in the coaching/team management set up by bringing in a manager who knows how this league works and is able to implement changes during games when the current "tactic" is failing miserably as of virtually every game now.....we won`t stay up

I think you are living in cloud cuckoo land if you think managers regularly change the team during a game so that it wins. If we dont stay up it will because the players are not good enough which is not surprising as they are young and in experienced

rocknrollman no2 Posted 31 December, 2008 Share Posted 31 December, 2008 A few things will change for sure. 1-A lot less ST holders. 2-Lower crowds. 3-Any player worth over £10 will be sold or loaned out. The only things that will not change is the Lowe/Wilde dictatorship and total football from the Dutch Chuckle brothers. Ah well!
