Saint Martini Posted 11 January, 2009 Share Posted 11 January, 2009 Some brilliant displays so far this season and probably our player of the season already. I was wondering if Saints are even going to try to extend his contract or if we should prepare for Bart in goal next season. Any inside info? dubai_phil Posted 11 January, 2009 Share Posted 11 January, 2009 Ha - you ask for inside info on HERE! After what happens to anyone who even guesses! IMHO if it was me I would say something along the lines of - KD you are getting better, give us a bit more effort between now and the end of the season and earn yourself a nice new contract by keeping us up... Sooner we are mathematically safe, sooner we can talk. Or words to that effect And then watch some PL club offer him 4 times as much on a Bosman ho hum don't you love NOT having to do that sort of stuff
Gully Posted 11 January, 2009 Share Posted 11 January, 2009 After his performance this season and our weak financial position it's hard to see that he wouldn't get a better offer else where.
aintforever Posted 11 January, 2009 Share Posted 11 January, 2009 Is probably one of our higher earners so if we don't flog him this month he will be offered a contract in June for much less money and leave for another CCC club IMO.

Mole Posted 11 January, 2009 Share Posted 11 January, 2009 KD is far too good to be playing in goal in front of our current shower of ****e. I think he should move on as he deserves to play for a better team.

I think he should move on as he deserves to play for a better team. I'd rather he stays. Feeling sorry for the guy doesn't come into it. We need to to move onwards and upwards, so he can stay, keep goal well and sleep easy on a pile of money most people can only dream of as far as I'm concerned. Alanh Posted 11 January, 2009 Share Posted 11 January, 2009 It would be great if he did stay and hopefully losing the wages of John (out of contract) Rasiak (sold / released) and probably Skacel (sold / released), should free up some wages budget to be able to afford KD. We won't "release" Skacel or Rasiak as that means we will still have to pay up their contract in full, which would defeat the point.

We may if they can get a two or three year contract on the wages they are currently getting. Viafara was released from his contract

Viafara was released from his contract For personal reasons - he would of agreed to not getting any compensation.
CHAPEL END CHARLIE Posted 11 January, 2009 Share Posted 11 January, 2009 I suspect many of us (myself included) would have liked Richard Wright to sign for the club last summer but in truth it's hard to imagine him doing much better than Kelvin , indeed the fact we're not miles adrift at the bottom of the table is very largely down to KD's outstanding efforts this season . By all accounts he likes it here and I for one would be happy to see him get a new contract and maybe even finish his playing career at SFC - he may well have to accept a pay cut though . Chris Larkin Posted 11 January, 2009 Share Posted 11 January, 2009 Hopefully we won't have to put up with Bart next year, I like him but over the last year or so all he's been worryingly prone to dropping the ball, which will get punished over a Championship season. Perhaps Tommy Forecast will play if Kel leaves over the summer?
Gordon Mockles Posted 11 January, 2009 Share Posted 11 January, 2009 Kelvin should, without doubt, win player of the season. I am hoping in equally strong form (outstanding) for the remainder of the season. Great attitude too. And I used to be his worst critic! Keep up the good work Kelv, and we may just salvage something (but I don't truly believe that with ALL my heart, sorry! We can blame others for our perilous tightrope walk)
Saint_clark Posted 11 January, 2009 Share Posted 11 January, 2009 I think we have to face facts. If we were going to offer Davis a new contract, we would have done so by now.
Micky Posted 11 January, 2009 Share Posted 11 January, 2009 I don't want Kelvin to get Player of the Season - I want DMG to get it. Let's face it for that to happen it means that DMG has to have blinder for the rest of the season, scoring 25 goals in the process which in turn means we avoid relegation. So while I am eternally grateful to KD for his heroics thus far, DMG for Saints Player of the Season please.

It says too much about the defensive state of those teams. Im hoping that one of the strikers really gets their act together and find the net more often than once every other game. sfcalex4ever Posted 12 January, 2009 Share Posted 12 January, 2009 I doubt Tommy Forecast would have joined us at the beginning of the season if he wasn't told in some shape or form he would be playing in a year or two. Rupert must have signed him as part of the 'cost-cutting' measures and intends to get rid of Davis at the end of the season! =O =(

True, but if anyone other than KD gets player of the season it'll be an insult to KD. I know this may sound daft but KD has done as much for us this season as Le Tissier did in keeping us up over many seasons.
