As VAR reviews all goals scored I’m left wondering why they did not spot that the ball was outside of the arc when the corner kick was taken for Burnley’s first goal ??

Given that all sorts of petty infringements have been penalised (even unintentional handball) I find I strange that this is ignored !

I realise that most players push the boundaries by placing the ball on the outer edge but yesterday’s looked clearly outside to me, even after watching replays !

Ps. I’m not being bitter and twisted about losing, I jus find it bemusing that some rules are allowed to be broken and others not !

That is exactly how JWP places the ball every time he takes a corner.

The problem , even when I was playing , is the corner flag getting in the way ! As I see it they are making room to swing their leg at the ball . This season I have seen the lino make the taker move the ball an inch or two so part of the ball was over the outside edge of the line.

The main problem with the corner was Ings moving out the way of the ball , Mc Carthy had gone over his line having tried to push an attacker out of his way but failed !

The rules state, the ball must be within the quadrant, therefore providing any part of the ball in within the quadrant (including touching/overhanging the outside of the line) it’s legal.

 

Nothing wrong with their corner, except for Ings’ defending of it .

Its become a pantomime now, just watching the highlights from last night and it's a joke. Fans singing for it, the wait and build up, fans and players going bananas when they get or dont get a decision. I guess it all adds to the excitement for the TV audience which is all that matters these days.

Its ruined football.  Its been introduced to create more controversy and talking points,  more analysis. Its just a marketing tool to get more views on YouTube or fans , news, pundits talking about Premier leaque. Its part of gge football product now. There are 100s of shirt pulling and holding at every corner, 1 000s diving, 100s players sitting down on pitch faking injury and no red or yellow cards. Let online picking up obviously fouls and hand balls. 

Add in the boring football like Saints play and fans just cant be bothered to get excited about the match. Goal goes in, no disallowed its total idiotic decision by FA and FIFA.  Next up will be goal kick and throw in decisions made by VAR.
