glkdcdes Posted 24 January, 2009 Share Posted 24 January, 2009 I think you will find Jans comments were scripted by Lowe as part of his pay off. Wouldnt it suit Lowe that the fans forced him out rather than him. Poortvliet is an optimist and i really dont beleive he resigned. I would love to know the real truth, but i know this is a commodity in short supply at Southampton at the moment.
PhilB Posted 24 January, 2009 Share Posted 24 January, 2009 What did he expect from the fans? Maybe all that energy could have been used to support the team there and then. All the protesting should've been done away from the pitch side. That's what he probably expected.

I still think that anybody would be mad to want the job of Chairman of SFC with all the abuse they get when things go wrong.

It is unfortunate that so many people are upset at one person (and Wilde to a certain extent) but there really is only one way now to solve the problem. It is even more unfortunate that the solution is apparently not even being considered by the people that count.

But I suppose you are right Lowe once went but that caused more problems than it resolved But if he went that would not guarntee that SFC would not go into administration

But it might at least allow the fans as a whole to get back behind the team. I think we'd stand more chance of staying up than we do at the moment, because the off-field stuff is only going to carry on. Lowe didn't ever really go though did he? Certainly not a clean break and his presence in the background was always felt imo. We need a clean sweep really but sadly it is not going to happen and I fear we are stuck now on one course only. Saint Fan CaM Posted 24 January, 2009 Share Posted 24 January, 2009 It's all a massive mistake by Lowe. He could have used his last trump card - Dowie - but he has once again failed miserably to deal with the situation properly. I am now looking forward to administration - it will be more exciting than the football now to see Lowe and Wilde turfed out on their @rses with no shares between them. Keep on rollin'. It is Wilde who calls the shots not Lowe and it is Wilde who really got us into the situation we are in. So it is him that all this agression and abuse should be turned to as he is the Chairman of the Football Club. I notice someone mentioned Dowie but he has been sacked from so many jobs I just cannot see what he will bring

Dowie is the one guy who has enough intelligence to say no, even if he was offered the job. Most other managers would bite Lowe's hand off, Iain understands the position, knows how difficult it would be to work with Lowe and wouldn't contemplate it under the present regime IMHO. Maybe one day Dowie will manage Saints, but I doubt very much it will happen while Lowe is around.

He has been the driving force behind the appointments of Poortvliet etc. And the ire of the fans is at Lowe first and foremost (rightly or wrongly). Nothing is going to change that. Thorpe-le-Saint Posted 24 January, 2009 Share Posted 24 January, 2009 Anybody that seriously thinks Jan resigned needs help It does seem weird that after only a few days after Jan said he was going to double his efforts (or words to that effect) he then mysteriously resigns.
