trousers Posted September 10 Posted September 10 Never did I imagine the worst consequence of AI is every single f***king local event having the same f***ing style promotion poster.... Does my f***ing head in.... 2
egg Posted September 10 Posted September 10 The little feature on Chat GPT to turn pics into authentic 80's style pics is brilliant though. Not sure it's worth killing us off for though.
badgerx16 Posted September 10 Posted September 10 Don't worry, somebody will reboot The Matrix and humanity will start all over again.
badgerx16 Posted September 15 Posted September 15 Steve Bannon and Bernie Sanders will be taking the same platform at the "Pro-Human Assembly" in Washington DC, dscussing how to control and direct the develoment of AI. 1

JohnnyShearer2.0 Posted October 2 Posted October 2 Got the premium version at work now. Barely touched the surface of what it can do in my role and it's helping already.

Viruses. Hacks. Cyber attacks. Pushing misinformation. Deep fakes. Power failures. Water shortages. Environmental harm. Making people redundant. Mental that it's being pushed so hard. Money talks, I guess. Makes it slightly easier to set up at template for an Excel spreadsheet or create a meme though, I guess. Not a great day for those worried about AI. First the PHP security flaw originally discovered by AI, and then subsequently exposed by hackers using AI. Then the announcement of 5000 jobs going at Barclays due to AI. I know all companies want to save money, but when just one company cuts that many roles it’s only a matter of time until the rest follow suit. Can’t even begin to imagine what the future career opportunities for our children look like the longer this carries on an AI gets smarter. 2

Particularly like that Barclays described it as the 'Icing on the cake' for their growth strategy. Lovely and compassionate towards the 5000 being made redundant. 1
badgerx16 Posted 8 hours ago Posted 8 hours ago (edited) https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/crz981p0klvgo "Just Eat has apologised after it was ridiculed online over a series of mistakes with AI-generated pictures for some of its restaurants' food items. The online food delivery platform had been testing out the tech to showcase food which didn't have images yet - but not all turned out as planned. Instead the AI invented several bizarre concoctions, from bacon and eggs floating in a glass of cola - a confusion between "soda" and "soda bread" - to chips poking out of muffins." Yep, if you have experience, you’ll generally be ok, either by a sensible company recognising you can increase output with AI helping out or by a company letting you go and having to call you back due to excessive cut backs as management don’t understand AI and what it can do or only keeps the inexperienced person who uses AI to multiply the error. The latter I’ve seen! The issue for youngsters is building up the experience.
Turkish Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago I can’t say which one but a UK hospital was cyber breached recently by an AI hack. A venerability was announced and the breach took just 8 minutes to happen. That is insane

The problem is these companies think they’re saving money but AI is fucking expensive. Uber spent all their annual AI budget by the third month of the year, so when they’re investigating potential security breaches they are being hit with huge bills which they haven’t budgeted for. AI is only going to get more advised but it also need to remember there are various levels, a chat bot and copilot still need humans to guide it, a fully agentic AI solution is on a token based model which means it can and does suddenly become very expensive. AI is here to stay but I can see it going the way of cloud where it was all the rage for a couple of years then companies realised how expensive it was, the security risk and many other factors so brought a lot of stuff back on prem. in my game (cyber security) you need AI to fight and discover the AI cyber attacks but still need human management and intervention. So whilst I expect the shitty admin jobs might be impacted anyone with skills shouldn’t have too much to worry about
