obelisk Posted 27 January, 2009 Share Posted 27 January, 2009 Presumably Talksport rang him to ask about the situation at SFC. Now let's think what the "right" answer might be. a) Let's have even more division until we get rid of the devil incarnate b) Pull together, good of the club, etc, etc If he ever wanted to step inside St Mary's under the current regime I reckon answer b) would be the logical and politic answer regardless of what he really thinks. Either that or he's been got at.
INFLUENCED.COM Posted 27 January, 2009 Share Posted 27 January, 2009 Dodd seemed to brush over some of the questions and quite rightly imo, he is unable to offer any insight into the clubs finances as he hasn't been there since the summer, so well done to him for not stating anything he could not substantiate. Good to hear he has been, until his op, active in the game with gaining coaching badges and scouting, not so good that he has looked at players in our opposition and had to concede that they were not tested

Sheff Saint Posted 27 January, 2009 Share Posted 27 January, 2009 amazing RL's powers considering LC was chairman when he was fired No he wasn't. LC bought Pearson in but Dodd went back to Assistant Manager. Lowe sacked Dodd when he sacked Pearson. That is the time when NDAs would have been signed. LC had respect for the fact that Dodd had been a great player for 15 years and then stepped up in the interim after Burley left. Sure, it wasn't working out (after just 5 games...) but LC didn't do a Lowe and shaft him, he let him return to his previous position.
Frank's cousin Posted 27 January, 2009 Share Posted 27 January, 2009 This is the problem - WHATEVER each of us think about the personalities inviolved in this mess, whoever we balme, and yes there are some very diverse views, one thing we should ALL have in common is the desperation and determination to support th lads on the pitch and try from a footballing perspective to support as best we can to avoid relegation. We CAN do it, we can be that fanbase we all love to believe we are - forget Cardiff and think of the Norwich game in the relegation season... that was the TRUE spirit of Saints fans when we roared them on to a 4-3 win.... trousers Posted 27 January, 2009 Share Posted 27 January, 2009 amazing RL's powers considering LC was chairman when he was fired If any NDA (or other form of contract) says "I shalt not criticise the club when I leave" (or legal-esque words to that effect) then it doesn't really matter who was in charge when he left as the present incumbent could still use it against people if the wording is suitably generic. Why does everyone assume that a comment is anti-Lowe just because Lowe happens to be at the helm?

That is a myth perputed around these parts. He was assistant manager. Sure, defensivly we were rubbish, but no one on here has any idea of his role at the club. Sure, he might not have been the best coach ever but Dodd's part in the **** that was last season is not anywhere near as big as sometimes made out on here. Plus, he's right. We need to get behind the team. Lowe has to go, Wilde has to go, but Wotte, wotteever we think of him, needs support and a bit of time.

To me, ignoring the boardroom side of things when said regime is, by seemingly majority consensus, deemed to be harming things on the playing side (indirectly or otherwise) is tantamount to damaging the team (again, by association) Apologies, probably wrong thread to be going into the philosophical argument.... It is your opinion and your opinion alone until you substantiate any of it as fact. Simply saying it is a fact does not alter it from being only your opinion. You could argue that he is keeping his nose clean for a job within the club later in his career or he could actually know a bit more than you do. Also, it isn't as simple as "not liking Lowe", which incidently makes you come across like a child in the playground. Just because someone doesn't like someone it doesn't mean that everything bad in the world is true of that person. That is just how this forum works. Lowe smells. Um Nottingham Forest....all positive all up for it and a reasonable atmosphere at the start...only problem was the team and manager were not...again! For the umpteenth time...the situation we are in is not of the fans making...how many games have the crowd had the audacity to boo and shout at the players, manager and board...2!!! SaintRichmond Posted 27 January, 2009 Share Posted 27 January, 2009 So now we're heading towards Lowe being a **** because he WOULDN'T have given Dodd a chance as manager? Despite the fact he's given other coaches a chance and Dodd captained the side for years when Lowe was chairman. I imagine the 2 knew each other fairly well from that time. Anyway, the reason ex players are saying stop bickering and get behind the team is purely down to common sense - they don't want Saints relegated! It's fairly simple. Once we're safe or down, then protest all you want, take any action you like. But for me, regardless of any board opinion, regardless of any other reason, if you don't fully support your team throughout the season you have no right to complain if you're relegated. But as someone pointed out on another thread, there's a worrying mentality of "get lowe out, sod the club". I'd just put any thoughts on Lowe well below my desire for Saints to stay up. Do you honestly think that Saints will stay up under Lowe's Regime ???? ....... Look where it's led us so far .........
