West end Saints Posted 5 June, 2025 Posted 5 June, 2025 I liked him and had flashes where he showed ability and tried things others wouldn't. I liked his character and enjoyed watching him. However, it wasn't him being adventurous which slowed his progress it was misplaced easy passes, mistimed tackles etc. He is still young and there is a player in there, but he isn't one that I feel we have lost out on. The RM argument fails when you see how a younger adventurous midfielder, who likes driving forward and passing forward has done so much better - in higher league, and worse team Fernandes showed more than CA. As he gets older, more experienced he may well be a regular starter, rather than odd exciting flashes. I have no idea whether we pushed him out or he wanted out but we have lost dozens of better players. 1

Even though you talk like he was way worse then fernandes, both times alcaraz has played prem football his goals and assists have been equal or better in half the amount of games . I think there’s an argument for alcaraz being the more impactful player

kwsaint Posted 21 hours ago Posted 21 hours ago The latest video from Southampton has a clear Lucozade bottle. A quick chat to Gemini confirms who the next signing is: https://www.gettyimages.co.uk/detail/news-photo/carlos-alcaraz-drinks-from-a-lucozade-bottle-during-a-news-photo/1457100941 1
St. Ciervo Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago I like the CoT angle being taken here. But for fun... I mean, 20 appearances with nothing to show for it... Could it really happen? Perhaps. I would be happy with it.
Sheaf Saint Posted 11 hours ago Posted 11 hours ago Dragan did say he has authorised the signing of a top player to compete with Azaz for the no. 10 role. Charly said he loved it here, and he's not getting the game time he would have liked at Everton (6 starts and 14 sub appearances last season). Let's light the fire of this rumour and turn it into a self-fulfilling prophecy. 2
sfc4prem Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago Can we change this thread name (we all know he'll come back at some point) to Charlie Alcaraz. I keep thinking it's a really irrelevant tennis thread on the Saints forum!
JohnnyShearer2.0 Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago Decent player. Don't think Moyes is getting the best out of him at Everton. 1
Lighthouse Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago I’ll pass thanks. Looked poor in the Championship last time and has done nothing at Juve or Everton to suggest any improvement. His whole reputation is propped up by four goals in 2023.

Where have I read that before about Moyes ? Perhaps there might be other loan options from them (that might be in the back of Dragan’s mind). Not so sure myself, but if anyone can bring the best out of a player, Tonda can.

If only we now had a manager that was able to get a tune out of "mediocre championship players"... #wotnotongueincheekemoji? Edited 3 hours ago by trousers
