All the best Ivan.

He has a proven record in that division at that level so well deserved.

Right now all across Bergamo and Lombardy there are local sports journalists thinking up their cute little press conference questions about bloody Death Metal.

Does anyone know whether Martin and Juric both getting new jobs is likely to have saved us any money? Not really sure how it works when a club sacks a manager- are we still paying them?

Clubs usually continue to pay managers as if they were still employed (ie monthly) until a settlement is reached, which is usually a lump sum to terminate enabling the past manager to seek new roles…

In the case of Juric I’m led to believe that, on relegation, there was a break clause that either party could invoke…and we did. So he’ll be paid till 30th June, unless Atalanta want him before that…

With Martin I’m pretty sure a settlement must have been agreed early March. That’s when he started appearing on Linekar’s podcast/MNF. Before that he’d have been contracted not to do media without the club’s permission, so when the settlement was done, that would have lifted…

What actually was 'Death Metal Football'?

Presumably it was meant to be about high energy, pressing, aggression, making life horrible for the opposition.

Given how much they went on about it when he joined, did we ever see even one instance of it under him? We definitely cut out the suicidal passing at the back and went more direct, more often, but did the energy and aggression levels really rise, given it was meant to be his thing?

Interesting point, and whether the club would still be able to have any say in media appearances after they’ve been relieved of duties. Possible I suppose.

Nathan Jones did the rounds a bit as a pundit after he left as well.

Yes, glad he’s got a decent job back in Italy.

No axe to grind about Juric, who was prepared to take the job on when no other bastard would.  It didn’t work out well of course and some of the line ups were baffling but  he was probably shocked by the shit show he inherited and what was available to him.

Always felt a temporary appointment.

Death was the death of our hope of anything but disaster.

Metal was the best material to hit our heads off, at the stupidity of those involved.

Football was what our opponents were playing.

He was a throw of the dice. I can sort of see the logic. We sacked Martin too late, so wanted to try something completely different as a Hail Mary. After a couple of games I think he realised what a bunch of pansies some of the players were and lost heart.
