Why did anyone think he’d stay?

We are a joke of a club. We will never hold on to a single decent player and try to build a good team around them under these owners.

You'd reject a £50,000,000 bid for a player that cost us a fraction of that?

*Comment made with the presumption that our asking price was met

He certainly does appear to have been highly professional in his (very) short time here.

It's just my view, and maybe I'm not with the times here, but I'll struggle to feel any significant feelings of goodwill to him if he does go.  I just think it sucks that players like him and Dibling play for one season, do ok, and then leave. Surely we should expect more from such players (or the club, if they encourage the sales).

I'll stop moaning now.

You do all know £50m was a negotiating position don't you? Like the £100m for Dibling thing.

If you expect to get press quoted figures you're going live very disappointed.

But still expect closer to £40m than £30m

We've all been conditioned to have the lowest possible expectations of Sports Republic so nothing is surprising, if it's to West Ham then we're certainly not holding out for that high transfer fee that had been reported

Don't worry though we'll get another promising youngster from Germany who will be hungry and guaranteed to improve (in about 3 years)

Adam Blackmore has made it quite clear that he would leave

He wasn't that categoric a mere 12 hours ago... Hedging his bets perhaps...?

I really thought we were gonna have some bollocks about ourselves and keep Matty.

IMO intention is clear that the Rudoni/Azaz/Spertysan deal was to replace MF and never in addition to him.

Yes there’s still time in the window but as it stands I’m really disappointed with the window so far. Here’s hoping we go and blow £50m on a couple of players.

Yeah, I'm fucking disappointed with £30m for Mateus. Are you?

The £100m Dibling was clearly hyperbole to show we valued him highly and that he was, in our view, worth a shit-tonne.

Fair enough I didn't realise. If we get 40 million it sucks but u can understand .

We are a much more ‘combative’ side (or want to be). Unsure if Fernandes would have dominated this team with this style

It would be the ball-park figure IMO

I guess a sell-on clause would be essential too

Well, yes, but that's obvious.

We were already offered £32m plus add ons, so think if true that it would be nearer the £40-45m mark.

I'm waiting to hear...

A great bit of negotiation then if we wanted 100m for Dibling and ended up with up to 45m

On that basis if we started at 50m for Fernandes we will negotiate to about 15m

Yeah, I'd be pissed with £30m but it's looking like 'over £40m with add-on' but who knows if that's 35 plus 5.000001 or 40 plus 5?

Players want to play in the Premier League. Only been here a year or so and they will likely double their money.

It's shit and all that, but if the player made it clear that he wants to go to the Prem, what can you do?

Going to a poor Wet Spam team, best of luck kid.

£40m. Includes add ons. We are pathetic.

What makes me laugh are the apologists who keep trying to claim we're stronger than last championship season, it's quite clear we are and will be weaker.

We are signing young players with potential in the main. I don't see the likes of Rudoni or fellows happening .

There you have it, there’s no stopping it these days

Yep. Once that happens not much you can do. Hasnt been that great so far this season but will be a top player i feel.

Jumping to conclusions

What’s he got left on his contract, 4 years? So his value will easily survive another year. Seems a good professional, ok he might want to leave but we aren’t talking Real Madrid here. This is the one situation where we could have actually held firm, and we have caved for £40m.

What other possible explanation is there exactly?

He will probably suit Potter’s style more so than ours.

Noting potter is in thin ice already

They've lost every game and fans want him out, not sure what fixtures they have in the next month but few more defeats and he'll be gone

That is the gripe we all have

this new CM is described as “promising”

Azaz surely cannot be the only established player we bring in, if we bring him in?

If this gave us a chance at Fellows my opinion of letting Matty go may soften.

If he has put in a transfer request he gives up getting loyalty payments, so Saints get more money than if he didn't.

Young players that Spors has spotted whilst watching Bundesliga highlights whilst sat on his sofa. Sports Republic have shown their player trading business is a joke time and time again.

I'm sure they sign based on data without even seeing players sometimes
