WinglessWonder Posted Thursday at 15:29 Posted Thursday at 15:29 Hey guys, International breaks are a great excuse to take in some grassroots football; pitchside beers during the game, banter with the players during and afterwards, affordable ticket prices-the list is almost endless!! I volunteer at Fareham Town FC as matchday announcer (I know it's on the border of Mordor but it's relatively safe!) and they are doing reasonably well after taking the step up to Step 4 following their playoff win in the Wessex League. It really is a friendly club and matchdays are generally a lot of fun so if you are at a loose end and over this way maybe consider popping along to Cams Alders. You never know, I might even do a shout out for you at halftime! 😁 Details are on the club website at www.farehamtown.co.uk 2
Saint Fan CaM Posted Thursday at 18:14 Posted Thursday at 18:14 It’s generous and friendly offer, however I’m not sure I see the attraction of supporting a team in a PO postcode, over a true Southampton club such as Sholing FC who are incidentally somewhat better (recently beat Fareham in the cup 0-3 and are unbeaten in their league). In Southampton we are blessed with some very decent non-league teams - Eastleigh, Sholing and Totton immediately come to mind. 3

Shout out to Totton who also have a massive home FA Cup tie this Saturday vs Truro , it's last qualifying round so potential for a big tie next round 2

It was more a suggestion to saints fans who live over this way to be fair; I see plenty in and around Fareham and thought they might wish to visit their local non-league side if they haven't already 😁 10

Dr Who? Posted Friday at 21:02 Posted Friday at 21:02 It’s also a great time to get away from football. I’m off out to tick off 5 Wainwrights in the Lakes. I quite enjoy not having my weekend ruined by Saints, or football in general. 4

It's very touristy (as expected) and the weather was awful so couldn't see anything from the top, but I'm very glad to have ticked it off at long last.

I'm pretty certain I saw a four for the price of three offer in a local supermarket. They'll go well with this afternoon's wood fired pizza.. 5 would make me a bit burpy though.. 1

My workshop is in the estate being Cams. Can sometimes hear the crowd if I'm working on a Saturday. Nice idea, don't worry about the PO postcode sillyness. The Isle of Wight has a PO postcode FFS 😄 I'll try to make it down to a game or two this season, just silly busy at the moment. 1

So you'll be familiar with my voice then and hopefully the matchday playlists are ok (the sponsors often choose them though so they can be a little "diverse"! 🤣 Excellent, hopefully we will see you at cams soon! 1

You mention Sholing, yet an interview Colwill gave (after the Chelsea v Saints match last season) and he sounded as embittered towards Saints as a Skate might sound (although he did stop short of referencing Scummers !). Was delighted when Sholing won the FA Vase some years ago, and came to St Mary’s, but that interview has strained the goodwill felt towards Sholing to some extent - given his links with the club. Good luck to Totton, and Fareham (and any Saints there) today. Always good to look at the non-league local results though. But I’m with Dr Who today, good not to have to spend the day, evening worrying and miserable about our results. 3

Yeah I watched that, he really has got a lot of resentment for his days at Saints. Thought he said something like were the first result he looks for, to see if we lost. I have no feelings to the geezer either way but thought it was a pretty spiteful way to come across. No idea what actually happened but he definitely still has an enormous amount of ill will inside him for the club.

I don’t think the 15 brothers with a combined million appearances or whatever it is think much of us either. Shame Tiss got involved with them to be honest. 1

Seems strange, perhaps they think they’re part of a bigger London scene or something, but the way he came across was very bitter, despite Saints helping his early years. Struck me as a character who ends up here towards the end of his career or after it’s cut short by injuries playing the ‘I’m a local lad coming back … card’. But think he’s set his stall out.
Badger Posted Saturday at 18:18 Posted Saturday at 18:18 On the topic of local non-league results I saw Totton drew 1-1 with Truro so replay required. Bit surprising that the FA are happy for a non-league club to have to incur the costs of a replay at great distance, yet not those in the EPL with their millions and massive squads. Also Gloucester City (top of their league) beat Sholing 2-1. Living up this way, pleased by that, (and in view of above comments re Colwill and his view of Saints). 1 1

Sounds like some kind of new portsmyth firm...
