I was critical of the starting place for Matsuki last night, but fair play to him,he got in decent positions as shown by his two goals. Still gives the ball away cheaply at times, but offers a bit more physical play than Fellows. Thought we were a bit lapse for about twenty odd minutes before we scored the second. Tried to go full on RM again, better teams I think would have punished us in that period. Results like this just make the Charlton one all the more frustrating.

Matsuki offers two more goals than fellows as well! I thought he played very well and wasn’t surprised to see him picked over Fellows who needs to add more to his game.

Great win well deserved. Thought Northam good tonight but hate the song-

You are only a c@@t with a whistle- really!!!! and why mention Keir Starmer since when have politics and footie mixed except when Sunsk made his once in a lifetime visit to us a couple of seasons back!

The FA seem to think politics and football are the same which is a joke ….
Lets face it the Northam are right too….. 😁

😀Lol, oh well having a stroke doesnt always give me a free pass, but rushing as I have other things going on in my business does mean I dont always get it right

Plenty of people enjoy a quick stroke now again. No excuse for poor spelling. 😁

I did notice after Leo scored, Larin just hit the floor. Looked a bit pissed off to me. It was a good goal but I think he expected the pass.

If Leo hadn't scored I think there would have been a bit of a tiff. However after Leo's shot was parried for the Matsuki goal, I suspect Larin had got himself into such a good position that he'd have knocked in the rebound anyway.

It's not often we praise a striker for a performance in which he doesn't score, but last night showed how much of an asset Larin can be for the rest of the season. Keep him and Ross fit and we will be in good shape.

We were very good last night and it was great fun, but it was definitely one of those nights when everything just seemed to go in.

But we've had plenty of games where it felt like nothing was going our way, so we were due one of those. And you can't get the rub of the green if you don't create the chances in the first place, so we deserved it.

Not sure if already mentioned but our Xg yesterday was only 0.3 higher than Saturday!

Fellows clearly needs to work on his shooting but his main problem currently seems to be a loss of confidence. He was playing great in the good run when Tonda first took over, but his form has deseted him since then. Hopefully the coaches can nurse him back into form as still think we can use his crossing ability (when in form) now that we have strikers who are a danger in the air. Matsuki has certainly proved he can offer something a little different as an option on that side or in the centre though.

Larin bust a gut to get there, Leo looked up, clearly saw him, but ignored what looked like the right option of a square pass and shot. Thankfully he scored, but I think Larin would have been well within his rights to give him a bollocking if he hadn't.

Funnily enough there was another opportunity like that in the second half when Aziz went through, this time slightly on the right side. On this occasion he chose to play a disguised no look square pass, which was blocked/cut out. I thought on that occasion Azaz should have been more direct/selfish and taken the ball on and shot himself.

Sometimes we are selfish and sometimes not selfish enough. We were well clear before both incidents so it didn't matter, but making the right choices when its 0-0 against say Coventry is going to be important.

In the ground it did look as though Larin was clear and the much better choice but on the highlights it did look as though he was covered, or would have been, by the time the ball got to him. Leo was still greedy, but it came off so you can't complain though.

Yes but we can't get to the playoffs, we sold our top goalscorer in the window. Who's going to get the goals?

Can't quite tell if this is sarcasm...

We've got goals in us all over the pitch. In fact we are the top scoring side in the league under Tonda's reign. But if you want names Ross Stewart, Scienza and Azaz have plenty of fire power. Add Larin potentially to that mix and a few from midfield and CBs and we're fine.

Agree and it can be frustrating. It's a common trait that we score a goal then are happy to sit back rather than go for the jugular. I get that we want to keep it tight after taking the lead but this only gives the impetus to the opponents. We'd be far better pushing for more goals to finish teams off. As we proved at Leicester when there was no choice but to keep going for goals we can be quite formidable when we don't put the handbrake on. Should have gone hell for leather at Charlton as soon as we scored but let them back in. We are a good side when in full cry but seem afraid to cut loose so it rarely happens.

Following on from this I was thinking we have scored 4 goals in periods of 30 minutes or less on 3 occasions now - Charlton, Leicester and QPR. Proof that this team can rattle in the goals if they stay on the front foot and don't go into pass for passing sake mode. Need to show this ruthlessness more often because its in our wheelhouse.

Their forward had the weirdest haircut, looked like he had a giant mushroom on his head. Im sure his hair was offside for most of the time he was on the pitch, it must slow him down with the wind drag

I agree with you on the general idea, but there are two teams on the pitch and it also has a lot to do with how the other team reacts and changes. I think the main difference between the Charlton game and the QPR game is the way they played against us. QPR played right into it, giving up too much space. Charlton were compact, worked hard and limited space.

Yes, thanks for biting but 10 goals in the last 3 league games kind of confirmed that for me.
