ExSt Peter Saint Posted 19 February, 2009 Share Posted 19 February, 2009 I am not sure whether any team we put out will have enough to win the match, but I'm fed up with politics and want to start a football thread. As I see it, we can either stick with having mainly older players and a 4-4-2 or mix in some younger players with pace and also use that system or experimentwith going back to the 4-3-3 or whatever you call it. Players in CAPS I think are or should be definite starters and the others can be played around with. No Spiderman, which limits the options in midfield. experienced 4-4-2 sticking to what we had last week -------------DAVIS James--PERRY--SIZE--Skacel Lallana--Wotton--Euell--Surman --------SAGA--McGoldrick put in a few more youngsters -------------DAVIS James--PERRY--SIZE--Skacel Lallana--Gillett--Surman--Smith ---------SAGA--McClaggon Back to total football -------------DAVIS James--PERRY--SIZE--Surman -------Gillett--Wotton Lallana-----Euell----Skacel -------------Saga Or any other combinations. I really wish DMG wasn't the first name on the team sheet, as I think we'd stand a much better chance without him, but fear he'll play no matter what. I can't decide what is the best line up. Any ideas?

ExSt Peter Saint Posted 19 February, 2009 Author Share Posted 19 February, 2009 There's always the none of these had really played for the first team befiore this season, but let's stick them in and see what happens team: ------------------Forecast James--Lancashire--Liptak--Molyneaux Mclaggon--Gillett--Gobern--Smith --------McGoldrick--Paterson
labibs Posted 19 February, 2009 Share Posted 19 February, 2009 Obviously Wotte never will, but could you start McClaggon up front? Is he ready for a start (not starting regularly, a single start) up top, or is he still only suited to cameos on the wing? I have defended DMG in the past and still think he could be a decent player if he plays in a team playing 4-4-2, alongside a target man, but if nothing else, he's badly out of form and isn't one of those players who can compensate for it with hard work. With Schneiderlin out, I would go for: Davis James, Saeijs, Perry, Mills Euell, Wotton, Surman, Skacel BWP, Saga Subs: Forecast, Liptak, Gillett, Lallana, McClaggon Alternately, put Surman at left back, tuck Euell inside and bring in Lallana or McClaggon wide. We have options, but this is a crunch game. If we lose this and the Cardiff match we could be (even more of) a laughing stock at the bottom of the table

If you take out DMG then that could be the team come next year if Admin and League 1 come our way. I took out DMG as he will no doubt get snapped up by one of the Top 4 Premiership teams. Andy_Porter Posted 19 February, 2009 Share Posted 19 February, 2009 Can I get a ticket at 220 or is that too late? Just wondering if I can wait by the ticket office for confirmation of the team, then if DMG is playing I'll go home. You can get a ticket a 3:20 if you want. derry Posted 19 February, 2009 Share Posted 19 February, 2009 They played 4-1-2-1-2 on Saturday not 4-4-2. Unless they play two wide in 4-4-2 or something similar they are going to be feeding off scraps. I don't think you can say that team picks itself! Molyneaux has been a liability. BWP is never that great up front from the start. Many people would have Euell in there somewhere for his physical presence. Likewise, Lallana hasn't been in great form and maybe his game doesn't suit being a right winger. The only ones I think should definitely play are Davis, Perry, Size, Skacel and Saga. All the others are highly debateable.

Alejam Posted 20 February, 2009 Share Posted 20 February, 2009 Playing any of the above in any formation will not make any difference as we are simply not good enough. Why not play Liptak, Seaijs or any other tall bruiser up front and see if that makes any difference. Maybe start with our pretty passing, get near the goal and f**k it up tactics then change if we need to. One win in sixteen makes trying other options a must in my opinion COYR

ExSt Peter Saint Posted 20 February, 2009 Author Share Posted 20 February, 2009 Sad that the one thread on a game is so far down the list! Bump. Tempting to stick with Gillet and Wotton for tomorrow. They add a lot of energy and tenacity, if not quality, and that's what we'll need tomorrow. Need to add some width there too though. Still can't see anything more than a draw. DMG does basically mean we're starting with 10 men yet again. I agree - bump! I think we need one person who can pass in centre mid, so I don't think Gillett and Wotton together is the best combination. We need width, but we also need a big forward to stick away crosses - not Saga's strength and I won't even mention the other one.
Window Cleaner Posted 20 February, 2009 Share Posted 20 February, 2009 The FL have refused his loan to Cherries - but why? he could play right wing. To tell the truth Colin, I scratched my head about that, but kept coming back to him. I was tempted by BWP or McLaggon, but what made me go for him, he always stays wide. He isn't the quickest but will track back and can beat players. I thought he might be able to wall pass his way to the byeline.
