How far do you travel?

Found this piece on the Southampton Uni site:

Got me wondering how far our fans travel to the home games now that we aren't doing so well, has the average distance dropped? I live about 4 miles from the ground but make a 24 mile round trip (picking up my friend from Hedge End en-route).

Bigger cities team's that do the drop like Leeds and Man City seemed to maintain good attendances but that could be due to the size of the local population. Akthough, I bet Man U would have a cataclysmic fall if they were to ever drop a division or two, apparently their fans average distance from Old Trafford is a crazy 77 miles!

Not so bad these days coming from the IoW but for a number of years I lived in Brussels and often came over for games, even kept 2 ST's during the whole period!

Admittedly we were in the Prem then but even still I must have been mad, for sure I would not do it nowadays !!

400 miles from Sheffield round trip. Only seem to manage 2/3 games a season in the last couple of seasons. Miss the routine a lot.

But there are a massive amount of games round here. We've played every team in South Yorkshire this season! Chuck in Derby, Forest and seeing other family in Bristol, Reading and other CCC towns and i'm getting a dozen games under my belt without having to pay quite so much in petrol. Oh, we win away!

I average about 100 yards per game ... the walk from my computer to my fridge with the beer in, 10 yds there and 10 yards back x 5.

Also factor in a visit or 2 for a wee and another visit into the kitchen for some crisps or nuts ... no wonder I'm so fit :D

This week was the 1st time in yonks that a bit of aerobics in jumping up and down to celebrate a goal needed to be added to the exercise ;)

If I actually had to attend a match it would be about 7000 miles round trip ... anybody lend me the use of a Lear Jet for the weekend

It's a good 220 miles round trip from Cov. But I don't go as much as I would like to due to money, I can't afford the 80 odd quid per game (Fuel 30 quid, Food 8 quid, Beer and other drinks 10 quid, Ticket 25 quid etc.)

Think you are slightly out with your mileage Colin, it's 236 miles round trip for me from Warwick as a season ticket holder for some years, think yours is closer to 250 miles.

Same difference, the amount of driving I do another 20-30 miles are meaningless.

Used to be from Nottingham which was about 4 hours there and 4 hours back on the train. Now in Bedford so 3 hours there and 3 hours back after negotiating the tube in London.

I know of two up in Harrogate who up until last season travelled to the majority of home games and almost all aways too.
