Sold To The Man @ The Bar Posted 19 April, 2009 Share Posted 19 April, 2009 .. of our current squad for next season who would you keep? ( Wages, if they want to stay .. etc aside) Me, close between Kelvin Davis and Simon Gillett ... Simon Gillet it has to be.

krissyboy31 Posted 19 April, 2009 Share Posted 19 April, 2009 Davis, everytime. Davis will walk Player of the Season but I don't think we can build the team around a GK. For me it would have to be Surman.
krissyboy31 Posted 19 April, 2009 Share Posted 19 April, 2009 What's Surman done to deserve a place even if he wanted to stay? What has any of them, for that matter? I think he is potentially our best outfield player and the one who would give his all for the club.
oxfordshire_saint Posted 19 April, 2009 Share Posted 19 April, 2009 Sell the lot and buy a team of passionate bruisers for next season, players in a similar mould to Darren Moore and Steve Howard. Pretty football can take a backseat. People will hate us, but we'll win.

Windmill Arm 2 Posted 19 April, 2009 Share Posted 19 April, 2009 Saga no question, he would be dynamite in League 1.
J Bizzle Posted 19 April, 2009 Share Posted 19 April, 2009 McGoldrick would **** on league 1 from that deeper midfield position.

Mr X Posted 19 April, 2009 Share Posted 19 April, 2009 Saga no question, he would be dynamite in League 1. WTF he's hardly set the championship alight has he? the last few months hes looked totally disinterested, but yes your right if he can regain a bit of form he has the ability for sure. As a high earner he will be one of the first to go plus theres no way he'll setttle for playing in division one anyway Ooops it says wages aside lol
um pahars Posted 19 April, 2009 Share Posted 19 April, 2009 Being honest, I'm not really wedded to any of them so hard to choose anyone. Arguaby the most talented are: Surman (but failed to deliver this season) Saeijs (but won't be interested in Div 3) Saga (even less interested in Div 3) Lallana (just doesn't contrbute enough to build a team around) Skacel (even less intersted in Div 3 than others who aren't interested) Not massive fans of DMG, Gillet & others but IMHO most of them are two a penny who could do a job (but so could many others up and down the leagues). So perhaps I would come back to either Kelvin or Perry as being old heads who could help out (and dare I say it maybe even Wotton - not sure I really said that). CHAPEL END CHARLIE Posted 19 April, 2009 Share Posted 19 April, 2009 Kelvin's our best player by a country mile and I think he'd stay if we could make even a half decent offer . Both JPS & Gillett are worth keeping if possible and Wayne Thomas could also be a big player for us next season if fit . But it's all entirely theoretical unless and until we find a new owner of course . (sorry broke the 'Only one player' rule)
Legod Third Coming Posted 19 April, 2009 Share Posted 19 April, 2009 Lloyd James for me most improved player imo. I agree. A liability early on but a reformed character for the last couple of months. If only he'd been playing in a better side and a team with balance from the off. There's two or three of these lads who could have been great for us this season with the right players around them. Chez Posted 19 April, 2009 Share Posted 19 April, 2009 As bad as Saeijs has been in two of the last three games he has been the stand out performer since he got here. Perry is terrible IMO and I'd happily allow him to retire. Thomas may never make it back and Lancashire is lightweight. Getting Saeij to sign again is paramount to any promotion push next season. When he signed it was on the basis that we remained in the Championship, so I doubt very much we'll see him here next season. Shame, he could do a job in League one. samoakley Posted 19 April, 2009 Share Posted 19 April, 2009 Lloyd James Has Impoved massively i agree and davis is defo a keeper. Davis James Perry Lancashire Mills New RW or Smith Gillett Wotton Holmes Mcgoldrick Patterson I think that team would do very well next season playoffs at least. if we got a decent pacey winger in with league one experince or keep smith and hope he plays well and a few exerinced league one players we would even go up as champions lol. Davis is destined for better things and will be snapped up in the fizzy or as Prem reserve or better and deservedly so. The rest of that team are shocking already, one of the worst teams in the history of SFC and would struggle to get out of League 1. You can make a case for Patterson and Mills improving and maybe even McG doing the business if he gets his head right but that's not enough to build a team round. To end on a positive note, Gobern I do have faith in and would much rather see him than Wotton to see out the season.

Dicko Posted 19 April, 2009 Share Posted 19 April, 2009 BWP We need a goalscorer in League 1 Look at Matty Fryatt, not good enough for the Championship, but scores 31 goals this season
