Report that Fry hope to anounce preffered bidder within 48 hours. There have been no bids at moment. He is frustrated that the main players don`t seem to be aware of the urgency to get things sorted out.

WHAT?! How the hell can that be - he had previously reported a bid had been made?

Indeed. I thought he'd reported 2 bids had been made before last Wednesday's 'bid deadline'.

What a pointless deadline that was

I cant understand this. If there are no bids and no urgency from potential buyers what makes Fry think he can name preffered bidder within 48hours?

Solent now stating that we should know by end of week. Talks with interested parties continue. Firm offer yet to be made. Perhaps bid and firm offer are stages one and two?

Heard that as well.Conflicting story on Radio hampshire, saying tomorrow!

Who do we believe?

The only real fact in The Solent piece is that NO firm offer to buy the club has been received.

The rest of it is Mark Fry speculating on what might happen later this week.

All those ITK'ers saying their mates had made bids are obviously a little wide of the mark.At best I would sugest Mark Fry has so far received expressions of interest which is completely different to an offer.

Think the words were 'no firm offers'. Implication as far as I am concerned is that bids have been made but that is as far as it has gone so far. There should be news of preferred bidder within the next 48 hours.

I'd imagine there is some playing one bid against another by Fry to get a higher price. A bit like an estate agent saying they have offers in for that dream house, higher than yours and therefore inviting you to up your offer. Let's hope some of the small time players get gazumped by someone of substance!

That's what I thought .......

Are you suggesting that Mr Fry has been telling Porkies ???

Ah, I understand now!

Solent report as described here doesn't make sense ( and btw in 7.50 sports report they didn't even mention Saints).

To announce preferred bidder within 48 hours would mean that Fry would have to have received some bids by now.

The process in a deal this complicated is: receive initial bids, choose one as 'preferred bidder' that seems best but for some detail(s), then work with that bidder to iron out the wrinkles, then arrive at final deal .. you hope!

The media seem to be getting some info from the Administrator and then putting their own interpretation on it. It would be helpful if MF could put some sort of clarification on the OS.

We may not be creditors, potential buyers or media outlets but we are the customers who are being asked to supply additional funds to possibly keep the club alive whilst this process continues.

think another problem is what each party are calling bids, is it an offer and intent to proceed or is it detailed contracts etc.

My understanding is;

Ch Island pair made a bid - which was not detailed and formal etc and it didn't go further than that.

Mr Xerox -made a bid

Pinnacle - shown intent, not sure how far thats gone but understand its looked upon as having good chance

Maple Leaf - made formal approach not sure how far

one mentioned on this has made formal approach, again not sure how formal but hve shown intent and have been involved for a while. It is British businessman with serious overseas financial backers. My concern would be what the connection between them is?

I am told Fry is keen to progress this quickly and maybe as soon as today select one to continue detailed talks alone with.

this is my undersatnding which could fit with solent's report. My money is still (although wouldn't put much on it!) with MLT's group being favorites

We have to recognise that this is a game of cat and mouse - the bidders will want to get the best deal for themselves, and Mr Fry the best for shareholders - negotiations are open and all parties will be playing hardball... My concern is not that we will not get any bids, but that the ones received will be below what Mr Fry believes he can get for creditors if liquidated - he will wait as long as possible to get a decent bid, and that will be the 11th hour before the plug is pulled.

It is confusing but I am certain that this is what was said. May be on again around 9.20am.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/hampshire/local_radio/index.shtml

Use listen live button.

Surely using the "listen live" button results in you listening to the live broadcast, so unless radion solent are playing the interview over and over in a loop how will this result in being able to hear the interview?

When I posted this (at around 8.50am) the programme was still going out live and the next sports news was due at 9.20am. As it was still live, no "listen again" facility was available. Presumably the programme (Julian Clegg) will be available to listen to again later today.

At what point, assuming no formal bid is made, does the Administrator decide to wind up the business?.......does this go on for months?..........I appreciate the brinkmanship, and would probably do the same myself, but its a dangerous game that could, in theory, end up with nothing suitable on the table and the club wound up........

I know most fans would see that as unthinkable, but is it reality?

These things take time.

Don't let lack of an immediate deal make you think he is doing nothing, I have only heard good reports on him.

I would be surprised if the announcement is not by close of business tomorrow, but that bit is my guess. I think the delays are actually positive, in that the work he has done keeps identifying possibles and he is thoroughly examining them.

I am not aware of anyone being put off by this.

Unless one of the late enquiries quickly becomes a full formal detailed offer I would anticipate Fry going to the bird in the hand shortly.

My guess would be other ruled out soon and working out the final details with one (my guess MLT's) over next few days
