It’s honestly crazy people can watch this season for example, or any of the football under managers since Martin and still think his football was boring. I’m in no way advocating his return, I think that would be a terrible idea, but the rewriting of history of a season in which we scored quite a lot of goals and had a genuine plan of attack which we haven’t seen since is so odd and is just as crazy as us ‘obsessed Martin fans’

That original post doesn’t mention SR anywhere.
-
It’s actually probably worth remembering the original point I was responding to.
-
No. In fact it was me who kindly pointed out to those saying it that giving a manager 2 seasons in this league and writing off promotion in May would actually involve losing quite a lot of football matches.
-
There are people in this thread saying Still was out of his depth and how crap we are who were adamant in May that Will Still would be given 2 years even if promotion wasn’t on the cards. Even arguing that crap football shouldn’t be challenged in the first season.
-
Yeah we’ve done this quite a bit actually.
-
Surprised not many of you chatting about O'Neil or Carrick. Maybe the Wolves move this afternoon forced the boards hand.
-
He assisted more league goals than almost every player in our squad that season. You remember him missing a sitter against Cardiff.
-
He was excellent here and his record and performances showed that. Anyone arguing otherwise is a fool.

Lets break it down: If we are going to judge candidates of the next manager purely by performance in their most recent role - I didn't say we should do that but somebody with something to point at to give us some hope would be nice. Appointing managers who have proven themselves to be out of touch or not very good at managing seems a bit daft to me. we are going to be picking from an extremely limited pool. Who do you suggest? Guardiola? Howe? Maybe see if Klopp fancies a crack at the Championship? - There are more than 4 managers who have done well in the world, the exact opposite to an extremely limited pool. The club needs a complete shift in approach. It needs to get back to basics - I'd say its as basic as it could get right now, the thought of us being any more basic is incredibly off putting. The players clearly need a good boot up their arse. Football is a pretty simple game which has been massively over complicated by footballing hipsters the past few years. Not least by Russell Martin with his ridiculous commitment to his “style” at all costs - Russel Martins style was to pass the ball to each other, create chances and score goals. If that felt complicated to you, thats a you problem. It got us promoted out of this league and whilst we obviously came up short in the PL, it worked here, with our players. or our present incumbent who made a name for himself by being half decent at Championship Manager. - Literally none of this is true, he made his name by being half decent manager abroad and left a club with better players than ours currently to join us, but given you think there's an extremely limited pool of managers out there it doesn't surprise me that you equate France to a computer game. A Pulis or Allardyce type would set us up to be more difficult to beat almost overnight. He would also most likely sack off this 5 at the back insanity we keep reverting back to - They wouldn't do this, we are back to point 1 but neither of them did this in their last jobs. Will Stills points per game record is better than eithers previous jobs but the main reason they wouldn't do it is because they get far too much attention digging at people on podcasts to even bother taking a job where scrutiny would be applied.

I'd almost go as far as saying that none of what you've wrote there is true.
-
Yeh. How’s this easy league going anyway?
-
A perfect clickbait headline.
-
Have we considered the conspiracy theory that when we play 4 at the back we also aren't very good?
-
Where are those murmurings ffs? Anyway, Sibley, Pinder, or just a bloke in his front room, I'm not pro another managerial change.
-
Whilst this is true, the manager is most likely to go, at some point we are going to have to explore the other option.
-
Keep making the same joke in all the different threads. One day someone might understand it and laugh.
-
Probably worth remembering their lack of professionalism and manager got us to the PL last time we were in this league
-
Apart from the fact that the idea Will Still is being told to play 5 at the back is quite obviously complete bollocks as well as the ‘those in the know’ line, the fact that Goztepe are riding high in Turkey means we should probably explore getting Rasmus to be more involved here again and give us some advice. Maybe even get him to appoint Nathan Jones again as he’s doing well.
-
Neither of these having done anything worthy of note recently. Honestly, if we’re calling for a new manager can we have some ambition and imagination please.
-
Because it’s funny? They are managers with who in their most recent jobs failed quite miserably. They now spend their time popping around podcasts being sniffy at modern football without being questioned on their own records. There’s very little to suggest they are what the club needs nor they would in any way suit the club. And the biggest example of that is the manager we’ve currently got seemed to sight a side that one of those two managed as one he enjoyed watching as a kid and seemingly has installed equally as basic tactics at his time here and it’s failed miserably. But because he’s young people seem to think he’s being too clever. Thats probably why people laugh.
-
Could and should have stopped here. Or as Will Still put it on Friday ‘big club ain’t it?’. Radio host in talking absolute waffle to fill silence, shock. Blokes a proper muppet and then plays dumb and defensive when people call him out on it.
-
I could probably find the exact same post you made about Nathan Jones for example who I think is currently sitting 6th in our league? Sometimes, people aren't complete shit, or not knowing what they are doing but instead results just aren't going right and time might change that rather than changing manager again.
-
I would agree and disagree with this in some aspects. Think you’ve made some fair points regarding selections and the amount of changes made but would also argue that if we had finished all of those one on ones yesterday that people could legit argue that would have shown a different tactical plan than overlaps and getting it in the mixer. That’s where he’s let down by the outcome of his finishers. But, this is what happens when managers who pride themselves on results and sell themselves as adaptable and pragmatic, lose matches. They’ve got nothing else to point to because they’ve specifically asked to be judged on nothing else. He’s not done himself any favours when he’s first joined and subtly played to the crowd by dismissing Martins credibility here. And in line with your other thread, I hope people are seeing that actually he did a decent job here, in this league and scoring goals and winning matches isn’t something we should take for granted. I get the frustration at Still but still can’t quite agree that a new manager suddenly gets our attackers to be efficient or our defence to stop doing stupid stuff. I’d like to see us address that properly over some transfer windows first.
-
Fair point and we absolutely should be better but we’re not the only ones underperforming with good squads for this league. Leicester and Ipswich, one of those with a manager who I assume people would want here, are also underperforming and as usual are slightly better than us. Sheffield United despite bringing backs ‘experienced championship manager’ aren’t much better for it. I can’t agree that a manager is solely responsible for our form right now. Think underperforming players should take the brunt of the fault and a manager should be given more than just one window to solve those issues. At what point do we actually give a manager some time to ride out the bad moments at this club? Or do we just keep sacking them after some bad form each season?
