  1. Going to Palace would be a Harry'n'Jim moment and probably wouldn't end well. If I was running the club I'd be on the phone to him. The worst he could do is say no. But I doubt they'll even try. It'll either be Selles next season or a hipster from the Danish third division.
  2. Fraser Forster to pull off seven world class saves until beaten by an Eric Dier own goal in the 93rd minute. 1-0 Saints.
  3. Exactly this - put up two banks of four at St Marys and we don't seem to know what to do. There was actually space behind their full backs in the first half last night but we couldn't exploit it because Moi is too slow to do so, and on the other side Sulemana appeared to have been instructed not to run into it. For all his faults, Stuey has the ability to ask questions against the block and so does Charley from what I've seen. I just wish we were a bit braver - if we're going down let's not wonder what might have been in the last 11 games.
  4. That's not quite true. He was calling for it - but any crosses that did find their way into the box appeared to be aimed at that giant of a man Theo Walcott at the back post. More generally, it's inexplicable to me that Edozie isn't even on the bench. Sure, the end product isn't there but he can beat people and do something unexpected. And when you're one-nil down at home and rock bottom of the table doing something unexpected to ruffle a defence can't be a bad idea. I just don't understand how we hope to create chances when even someone like me standing in the Northam can predict what our next three or four passes are going to be.
  5. Just got home after another fun packed evening at St Marys. Our next eight games are all against direct relegation rivals or teams competing for the top four, so I’d been hoping the players realised that this chance of getting off the bottom, out of the relegation places, and two points from twelfth was worth taking. Apparently not. We weren’t terrible, we were just flat, predictable and toothless. Seeing Moi and Diallo starting ahead of Stu/Theo and especially Lavia was like watching the air come out of a balloon. If Lavia can’t play three full games in a week then give him the first half tonight and on Saturday to at least give us a chance of getting a lead. Nope. Diallo. Tried hard but has the creativity of a bullfrog. What’s that you say - we had the fastest and slowest wingers in the league on the pitch? That must be why we kept asking Moi to chase the ball down the line, while Sulemana seemed allergic to the massive wad of space behind their right back. At least Charley tried to get things going, but Brentford never had to be more than fucking average. I’ve lost all hope again, and wonder how we’ll ever score more than one goal again this season, so we’ll probably beat Spurs 2-0 on Saturday.
  6. Why does every team I see on here have JWP Lavia & Alcaraz running the midfield, but that never happens on the actual pitch? Just give it a go, it's what fans want, and it can't be worse than the shite we put out against Leeds, right? Those three plus three from Edozie, Tall, Sully, Stuey and Che further up. Get it done. If we're going down let's go down with a bit of fight and more than 8 touches in the opposition box.
  7. It certainly suggests Ankersen didn't think he was quite ready, but events have forced his hand. He was laughably wrong about Jones. Let's hope he was initially wrong about Ruben too.
  8. Whatever the final score is, I reckon that's the best half of football we've had in the league for many months. JWP a legend obviously. Love tall Paul. And more of the best bits of a so-far-shit season watching Lavia turn away from and glide past Premier League midfielders like they're not there.
  9. The fact that he sounds more like Mikel Arteta than Nathan Jones can only be a good thing. Let's see how it translates on the pitch. Not exactly a free hit tomorrow - desperately need some points. But Leeds the following Saturday is a must-win. COYR
  10. Omnishambles. Sack the board. I'm going to organise a march to the stadium, and then go to the pub. Let's face it, we deserve to go down. Just hope the people who own us have learnt some harsh lessons about being a bit fucking smarter.
  11. shitshow /ˈʃɪtʃəʊ/ noun VULGAR SLANG•US a situation or event marked by chaos or controversy.
  12. I would have thought the same about someone like Ismailia Sarr at Watford, so you never know. Tino will only just be back from injury too so will need to prove himself for half a season at least. Anyway, I’d advocate focusing on trying to stay in this league for a bit rather than worrying about the next one.
  13. I like the team in the first post but would be tempted to try Edozie or Mara over Orsic unless the only reason he hasn’t been playing is that he fell out with Jones. He’s done nothing when he has appeared. Ruben Selles Red Army
  14. Less of the rarebit comments please, moosefucker - you’ve made your anti-Welsh comments clear. Cheers mush.
  15. So bad it’s funny. A Bednarek own goal followed by an opposition 87th minute winner after substitutions made at the wrong time is a full Saints Loss bingo card. Congrats to Nathan Tella on his hat trick though.
  16. Don't panic, Captain Mainwaring... I don't disagree for a moment that he's brought most of it upon himself, and the rants have been ridiculous. I wouldn't have appointed him in the first place. But he inherited a squad desperately low on confidence and with a crap record throughout 2022. And it's pretty clear he's not going to be sacked any time soon. So the personal hate is all a bit small time IMO. And when I'm in the ground I'll support the team for 90 mins and boo afterwards if I feel like it.
  17. Some of the online hysteria about this guy is absurd. His comments after the Brentford game suggested he couldn't really cope, but he's been given a job to do and he's been given another chance. Let's see if he can win some football matches.
  18. Macca KWP if fit ABK/DCC Sali Perraud Lavia Charley Sulemana JWP Edozie/Orsic Tall It won’t be, but that’s what I’d do. Give the new boys a run, and maybe bring the regulars on with a point to prove after 70 mins. Can’t be worse than what we’ve seen already.
  19. I’d go for an enormous Jones Out banner in the Northam as long as it’s accompanied by loud nonstop positive singing in support of our team and our club.
  20. Either that, or organising-a-protest-march-from-the-5-rivers-to-the-ground-before-cutting-up-season-tickets-with-a-pair-of-scissors time
  21. I wonder how much money this forum collectively lost betting on Jones being first to go? I'll start... £40... 🥳
  22. His full quotes below are already bizarre enough. It’s just not how a confident manager - in any field - talks in public. Looking forward to him doing it his way and hope it works 🤣: “I'm really, really disappointed. First of all I'm disappointed for the fans. The biggest thing for me and I want to be brutally honest with this, I have let the players down. "I have let the players down because I came into this club to do a job, I was recruited to do certain things and I don't see my team in there. I have pandered a little bit, I have gone away and tried to accommodate what we have. I haven't really put my own stamp on it and I should've by now, I really should have. "I was recruited to do a certain job, to play in a certain way because my teams did really well. We defended the box, we were aggressive, front-footed, we put teams under pressure, we pressed, we counter-pressed really well. Statistically there weren't many better than me. "I've come here and gone away from that. I've got to get back to doing what we do really well. I won games and I've gone away from that. Whoever we played we'd go after teams. I'm not seeing that in my team now. "I blame myself. I should be driving the standards. Everywhere I've been I've drove standards, I haven't let anyone get away with anything. I've been on top of everyone. I've maybe got carried away that these are Premier League players and you have to give them this and that, but no more. Now I have to go back and to be me because that's not good enough. "The manager drives standards, I took plenty of accolades at my previous clubs and manager of the year and statistically one of the best in the country one of the most aggressive managers. On an absolute shoestring by the way. Pound for pound there wasn't anyone else in the country competing like we did in terms of points per pound. "I've gone away from that and I'm saddened. I should never have gone away from that. "I've allowed certain things to happen, but that won't happen anymore." "I've tried to give people what they want, I've tried to really work with the players to give them a system that suits them. But it doesn't suit me. It hasn't suited me as a manager or why I was recruited to come here." "I was recruited to be aggressive and on the front foot and we're not that and that's where we need to get."
  23. Hysterical thread. He ain't going nowhere. Whinge all you like on here, but support the team for 90 minutes on a Saturday/Sunday/Monday/whenever Sky think most people will watch in China.
  24. I'd tend to agree with this, certainly in a normal season. But so many teams have been rubbish that we're still only four points off 14th place. Or to put it another way we only need to get three more points in 18 games than the three teams just above us. It's certainly not impossible. COYR
  25. £6m for a 17-year-old who doesn't want to stay in un-turndownable... Gutted to lose part of the Itchen North Massive though
