I wonder how much money this forum collectively lost betting on Jones being first to go? I'll start... Β£40... π₯³

His full quotes below are already bizarre enough. Itβs just not how a confident manager - in any field - talks in public. Looking forward to him doing it his way and hope it works π€£: βI'm really, really disappointed. First of all I'm disappointed for the fans. The biggest thing for me and I want to be brutally honest with this, I have let the players down. "I have let the players down because I came into this club to do a job, I was recruited to do certain things and I don't see my team in there. I have pandered a little bit, I have gone away and tried to accommodate what we have. I haven't really put my own stamp on it and I should've by now, I really should have. "I was recruited to do a certain job, to play in a certain way because my teams did really well. We defended the box, we were aggressive, front-footed, we put teams under pressure, we pressed, we counter-pressed really well. Statistically there weren't many better than me. "I've come here and gone away from that. I've got to get back to doing what we do really well. I won games and I've gone away from that. Whoever we played we'd go after teams. I'm not seeing that in my team now. "I blame myself. I should be driving the standards. Everywhere I've been I've drove standards, I haven't let anyone get away with anything. I've been on top of everyone. I've maybe got carried away that these are Premier League players and you have to give them this and that, but no more. Now I have to go back and to be me because that's not good enough. "The manager drives standards, I took plenty of accolades at my previous clubs and manager of the year and statistically one of the best in the country one of the most aggressive managers. On an absolute shoestring by the way. Pound for pound there wasn't anyone else in the country competing like we did in terms of points per pound. "I've gone away from that and I'm saddened. I should never have gone away from that. "I've allowed certain things to happen, but that won't happen anymore." "I've tried to give people what they want, I've tried to really work with the players to give them a system that suits them. But it doesn't suit me. It hasn't suited me as a manager or why I was recruited to come here." "I was recruited to be aggressive and on the front foot and we're not that and that's where we need to get."

Hysterical thread. He ain't going nowhere. Whinge all you like on here, but support the team for 90 minutes on a Saturday/Sunday/Monday/whenever Sky think most people will watch in China.

I'd tend to agree with this, certainly in a normal season. But so many teams have been rubbish that we're still only four points off 14th place. Or to put it another way we only need to get three more points in 18 games than the three teams just above us. It's certainly not impossible. COYR

Β£6m for a 17-year-old who doesn't want to stay in un-turndownable... Gutted to lose part of the Itchen North Massive though -
Southampton(1) 1-2 (3)Newcastle - League Cup Semi Final - Second Leg
LaptopSaint replied to Chez's topic in The Saints
January's over and it's time for our "Post of the Month" competition πππ Oh, and if Lavia doesn't start every game I don't know what else to say. -
He's well connected in Belgium footie (I used to live there) so it might actually be somewhere close to accurate.
-
Has Jordan signed yet?
-
With the greatest of respect, that's a decent draw.

I also thought of Pukki as a deadline day deal. My original suggestion for Prem experience was Chris Wood, but Forest got there first. No idea if Norwich want to deal, but if you had to put money on someone scoring 6-10 goals in the second half of the season - would you pick Pukki or a 20 year old winger from Rennes? I know where my cash would be. There's no guarantee of anything, and Sulemana might turn out to be the next George Best, but if we're placing a bet on an instant impact we could do a lot worse than Pukki. (Checks West Ham training ground and sees Ings on the treatment table for reminder of what can go wrong...)

From where I was standing, I thought Diallo was ok today. Lavia different class but clearly being carefully managed at the moment. The ref was a joke, we were toothless, and we can't defend set-pieces. Haven't seen the replays but it was way too fucking long between JWP scoring and VAR/ref overturning it. Absolute joke. I think it was Lyanco who broke the line too soon to play Watkins on for their goal, and we've been shit at defending setpieces all season. Che's 'finish' for the other disallowed goal when he was offside was the strongest reminder that we need a centre forward since he slamdunked it in with his hand against Wolves. Lots of game left but a lot needs to change.

It's *only* the Belgian League (I've watched quite a lot of it and there are a few decent sides) but his goalscoring record in league games can't be knocked in the last few years... 33 in 38 followed by 21 in 35 followed by 14 in 18 so far this season.
-
I think this sums up how I feel. People on here talking like Ings is the messiah need to calm down a bit. If the WHU deal is confirmed Iβd enquire about Antonio who scored more goals in the Prem last season than Ings and who would be perfect knocking the ball down/creating room for Orsic/Jackson/JWP/whoever to bang βem in.

Southampton 0-1 Newcastle League Cup Semi Final 1st Leg
LaptopSaint replied to Saint_clark's topic in The Saints
Worst thing about the away leg is that you'll need a telescope to see the football. Terrible place for away fans to watch a football match - absolute pisstake. For the first leg, we should build a temporary stand holding 2500 on massive stilts above the Chapel. -
He plays on the left He plays on the ri-i-ight Mislav Orsic Makes Haaland look shite And if Orsic hates Pompey, clap your hands (clap clap clap)...

Saints 2-0 Man City - The Treble is STILL on!
LaptopSaint replied to Lighthouse's topic in The Saints
Rest Haaland and DeBruyne for the Manchester derby and play ManCity U20s (2021) vs ManCity U20s (2022). That seems fair. We'll agree to rest Lyanco and Diallo in response. Saints 3 (Lavia 18, Edozie 62, Bazunu 90+5) Man City 2 (Wonderkid 4, NewMessi 11) Roll on the semis. -
Wrexham away would be fun.
-
Obviously it's the fans' fault. Players and manager completely blameless π€¦ββοΈ
-
I think it's more that they're wilting under the pressure at home. Best periods of play under Jones (I know their haven't been many) have been in the second halves against Liverpool, Fulham and Palace away. If St Mary's stays toxic, we're definitely going down.
-
Armstrong for England. I've always said it.
-
Absolute pony.
-
Bring back Shane Long. It's the only solution.
-
The bit that resonates with me is when he says Lyanco wouldn't get into his Havant team π€£
