That's £265 for the cheapest adult new ticket - quite a bit cheaper than the league 1 average. I think we'd be shooting ourselves in the foot to offer tickets at those prices. Unless we get a megabucks new owner who can afford to risk lowering prices for short term loss with possible long term gain (as MK Dons have done) I think we should be looking at around £350 for a season ticket. A bit pricier than the average but needed for Saints security. I'd give a big incentive for existing season ticket holders to renew though.

On hold with a confused bloke in the call centre now... fingers crossed! Success - I think - someone's getting a couple of tickets in the corner by the Northam... on hold again.. Sweet all gone through

The website implies you can ring tonight to buy tickets to donate - but the unhelpful woman I got on the phone said I had to ring back tomorrow. I'm not sure they got the instructions out to the call centre about the special customer number

"WH Ireland, which early last month agreed a £16.2 million takeover of Blue Oar only to abandon the deal 10 days later" When they decided to launch a bid for SLH instead?
-
Actually at the moment I'd take a stinking rich ego maniac who wants to pick the team himself. Just so long as Saints survive!

I think you're being a bit down on Saint Mary's. Look at our Premiership position 4 years before and after: 97/98 - 12 98/99 - 17 99/00 - 15 00/01 - 10 01/02 - 11 02/03 - 8 03/04 - 12 04/05 - 20 So average postion at the Dell 14th, average at Saint Mary's 13th even with the relegation season thrown in. If we are ever to aspire to return to the top flight it is essential we retain Saint Mary's. We wouldn't be admiteed to the Football League ground sharing with eastleigh let alone the Premier League!

I've seen a couple of posts on here from people saying they hope that season ticket prices next year are cut to League 1 levels. However there is teh counter argument that the quickest way out of League 1 is to maintain a Championship level wage bill as Leicester have done. I know it's going to be tricky to go for an instant return to the Championship with a 10 point penalty but Leicester would be fighting for automatic promotion. For reference season ticket prices for a selection of mid table League 1 teams for next season (all full prices rather than family discounts or early bird deals): Oldham - £303 Bristol Rovers - £300 Colchester - £304 Walsall - £325 Stockport - £322 Leyton Orient - £320 So how much would you be willing to pay for a season ticket next year? Would you pay over the odds for League 1 football to help the club get back on it's feet or will you be expecting to be paying the same as you would for any mid table League 1 side?

You think Arsene Wenger shouldn't be a manager then Ryan Smith has plenty of potential, it's delivering on that potential that he fails at.
-
I think he could do a job in League 1, yes he hasn't kept us up, but be honest who (apart from a certain Mr Lowe) at the beginning of the season thought the players we had were capable of keeping us up anyway? However I think because of his association with Lowe he is better off leaving as certain sections of the fans will never accept him.

Seconded. Let's make Saturday a day for showing the best side of Southampton Football club. United in support of our club and expressive our our desire that it should not be allowed to die. Let us face adveristy with unity and humour, not with in fighting and blame casting. COYR

Reasons why you have not bought a ticket for Saturday

Bought myself and my brother tickets in the Terry Paine suite. If it's gonna be the last match at Saint Mary's I want to go out in style. -
Surely a thread dedicated to abusing a forum member is slightly against the rules of this site? Wilde made mistakes, he chased the dream and so nearly got us back into the premiership (how quickly people forget!). Unfortunately that cost us massively and has led us to the situation we're in now. He made mistakes and for his own sake I think he should stay away from the club now. However he does not deserve the abuse and threats on this thread. Mods sort it out please

Wagner was born in Leipzig in 1813 which admittedly is in modern Germany. However Germany as a unified nation didn't exist until 1871, even if you really stretch the definition it didn't exist before 1814. Which means that Wagner was born as a citizen of the Austro-Hungarian empire. Wagner was Austrian you mung bean... -sorry did that post from memory, it seems Saxony was an independent state in 1813 so... Wagner was Saxon you mung bean... -which just seems odd

The "we want Mark Fry as chairman" thread

If he has Alpine's backing he has my backing. We need unity. -
It depends how far back I can go (and only changing Southampton board decisions rather than for example changing WGS's mind so he stayed) 2000's Appointed Hoddle instead of Sturrock 1990's Not sacked Chris Nicholl 1980's ... Can't think of much I would have changed in the 80's, maybe pushed for a move to a larger ground? The Taylor report cut the Dell in half and the board should have seen from the way things were going in the mid-eighties that all seater grounds were intevitable. We were averaging over 20,000 in the early eighties but lost 5000 supporters throughout the 90s. If we'd had that extra income then before the Premiership big four monoploy started to take hold we'd be up there with Villa and Everton IMO.

The FA are ****ing ****s. Ready to tear up the rule book when the mood takes them, of course nothing to do with one of the presiding board being Chief Executive at Norwich... ****ers -
Meeting Thurs 23rd with Trust, SISA, Saveoursaints, 2 MPs, LM and MC
SaintDonkey replied to derry's topic in The Saints
Great - there's not even a new regime in place yet (or any guarantee they'll be a club to have a new regime) and already people are calling for a boycott! Let's face it whoever takes over will be an ego - you just don't get to be a football chairman without being one. If they bring success on the pitch the ego will be forgiven (by all but the lunatic fringe of course ). All we can hope for at the moment is that someone comes in and I applaud any efforts to keep Southampton Football Club alive. I have my doubts about the trust* but at least they're doing something! *[edit] actually after reading their Business plan for SFC can I raise that from "doubts" to "they're a bunch of unrealistitic lunatics who should be allowed anywhere near the club" -
A decent experienced manager with contacts? You mean someone like George Burley? Alps you really do take the ****ing biscuit.

FFS how much clearer do you need it spelt out? The fans are being asked to help stop Southampton FC ceasing to be. Now oddly enough I'm a Southampton fan and as such I'd rather like it if the team I've supported for the last thirty something years did not cease to be. If to stop that eventuality I have to give money that will line the pockets lazy arse wasters who are paid more in a month than I earn in a year than so be it. This isn't about the players, it's not about Crouch, Lowe, Wilde, Askham or Pope John Paul II it's about Southampton football club. Now I think that's worth saving, if you don't then frankly you can take your fat one and shove it where the sun don't shine.

Hmmm more like trying to remove a brain tumour that's causing seizures. Don't remove it and there's a chance that the patient will die, but will probably live albeit with reduced quality of life. Do remove it and there's a very good chance that the patient will die, but if he survives the operation quality of life should improve. When it comes down to it it's all about quality of life. I don't know a Saints fan who didn't want Lowe gone from the club. But after the operation to remove him Saints are only surviving on life support and there's every chance someone's going to pull the plug because we can't pay the hospital bills. Personally I find the vegetable in a wheelchair option of a 'fans club' starting out in the Wessex leagues unappealing. So can we just all pull together and put our money where it's needed to save this club of ours!

Okay Groundhog Day and Ever Decreasing Circles I get. But what has Fingermouse go to do with it?
-
It would be a great shame if we can't sell out our allocation for what could be the last ever game for Southampton Football Club.

Pearson just kept us up on the last day of the season as other results went our way. He had a much stronger squad. These are indisputible facts. You can argue that it wasn't his squad, but equally you can argue that the squad Wotte inheritied, although likely he had some say in it, was built under far greater financial constraints than the squad Pearson inherited. And yet Pearson is the messiah and Wotte needs to be sacked whatever? I don't think he'll keep us up - other results just aren't going our way this time round. And I don't think he should stay whatever happens, I don't think he's the right manager for our situation. However he has done nothing to deserve this vilification .

I'm guessing 50k means the difference between going into liquidation on 4th May or the 11th at the moment. While we're searching for a buyer that could be all the difference in the world!

Well unlike some people I like to actually give reasons for my conclusions Would you prefer it if I adopted the vernacular? iTS all LOWEs Fault!!!!!111!!!!!:rolleyes: and leave it at that. However personally I prefer reasoned arguments, and it's not the fans fault yet, but it will be if we go under for the wont of a few thousand bums on seats against Burnley.
