  1. Nope, I wanted Fat Sam when I saw we were in deep trouble (about a month ago) I wanted us to persuade Tuchel other than that, wasn’t really sure. But certainly didn’t write silva off just because he’d relegated...
  2. I didn’t want silva. I think he’s a decent manager and would have been much better for us than MoPo... looks like I was probably right.
  3. I’d imagine the board and players have their head in the sand just as much as this forum. Too many arrogant egos to think we’re too good to go down. Well, we are in big big trouble.
  4. Bye bye MoPo. Not a great deal left out there now though. Taken too long to pull the trigger, should have taken BFS when we had the chance.
  5. Congrats for pointing out what the ‘trolls’ have been telling you (and others) for some time now
  6. As it stands 3 points behind Bmouth in 18th with Tottenham and United away to come. Of course we’re not in a relegation battle.
  7. In fairness, they should have been 2-0 up in the first half...
  8. Remember when you laughed at the idea of having BFS because ‘we’re defensivly solid’...?
  9. 69 games unbeaten, that's the next level. How many other Celtic managers have done that? you can slag off the Scottish league all you like as it is very very poor, but he has achieved something no other manager has done for them. He went up there to dominate, and that he has done. I don't know how much football you watch, other than saints, but they weren't out before the group stages? They came 3rd in a group of Bayern Munich, PSG and Anderlecht. They only won 1 game, but in all honesty, how do you think we (with a much bigger budget and better squad) would fair in that group? Given our dubious previous performances in Europe, I think we'd probably only win 1 game as well. Given their squad / budget, I think 3rd, and EL football, is probably something they targeted once the group was drawn and would be considered a decent result for them. I don't know if you are suggesting that they should win the EL? If you are, you are outright stupid given some of the teams in it.
  10. True, but could any muppet take them on a 69 game unbeaten run? Celtic are by far the best team north of the boarder, but Brendan has taken them to the next level, like him or not. Also, you cannot ignore what he done with Swansea and Liverpool (to a degree). As for his comments, yeah, he probably shouldn't have said them but they've pretty much all turned out to be true. Our ambition did change once Cortese left, like it or not. As for tapping up, i'm not sure you can blame him for that? as we've seen over the past few months, Liverpool Football Club are pretty much a disgrace when it comes to things like that. As i'm sure many other clubs are as well. Brendan won't leave Celtic mid-season anyway, so its all irrelevant.
  11. Not true. They want a long term replacement for Kompany, Virgil fits the bill perfectly.
  12. TBF he done a cracking job of that at united....... No ta
  13. He won't, he'll end up as Holland manager.
  14. West Brom and West Ham... Not exactly the most appealing of job offers. He'll hold out for a club in better position... Could see him at Newcastle if they stay up, have some money to spend and Rafa goes.
  15. Why would he join a bottom half PL team whilst the Dutch job is still up for grabs?
  16. Because they spent a significant amount of time trying to persuade Tuchel. They spoke to a few managers in the time following sacking Puel and appointing MP.
  17. Well from what I've been told, by people in the game (outside of saints), he's certainly not a 'fine coach'. As for the players liking him, (from what I've been told) I know a certain ex captain didn't get on all that well with him.
  18. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-5201741/Swansea-sacked-Paul-Clement-crisis-club.html Just read this article on whats gone wrong at Swansea.... A lot sounds very similar to us. Basically, poor recruitment, lack of investment and selling best players has *****ed them... Sound familiar? Always thought we had followed a similar path to Swansea and to be honest, I wouldn't at all be surprised if that continued and we found ourselves in their position in a season or 2 time.

    Josh Sims

He's young, hungry and from the Academy, so therefore 100% guaranteed to improve. On a serious note, he is a decent player (quick and direct, something we currently lack) and if fit, would improve us this season (Same goes for Hesketh). Id have them both over Redmond every day of the week. My only worry is if he will be physically up to the demands of the PL - only time will tell.
  20. It amazes me that so many people are happy to accept mediocrity, just because of our generally terrible period during the 90's and early 00's (well up until 2009). You need to move with the times and live in the present, rather than the past. Take City for an example, average position of 7th, would they accept that now? Of course not. Since returning to the PL, our average position is 8th (although that is likely to drop after this season), surely this should be the new benchmark of success? (and before anyone mentions Puel... We all know he wasn't sacked based on league position).
  21. Not great news for us - one of the few teams worse than us and probably the only team with a manager who is worse than ours.
  22. What, other than pure arrogance, gives you such assurance that there are currently 3 (and more) teams worse than us? Of those below us, we’ve only beaten West Ham (lucky win), Palace and West Brom (took a wonder goal to break them down). Both Palace and WH have changed managers and significantly improved since we played them. WB have also changed managers and it is yet to be seen how they will trusty react. Generally we’ve failed to beat the teams around us, that to me doesn’t suggest we are better than them. Do I think we will go down? No, I think of things continue as they have done Les will male a change. We’ve got a decent enough squad, just have a few ‘bad eggs’. Are we in Currently in danger? Yes. 3 points off bottom 3, tough fixtures to come and a squad with a number of players who don’t want to be here is not a good mix. As for the many things I’ve got wrong, you’re going to have to remind me what these are? Other than thinking VvD and expect Bertrand (based on something I was told, and said whilst Puel was still here, might I add) would go. None of which are as outrageous as the absolute nonsense (IMO) you spout on here
  23. This is something the club, behind closed doors, have been concerned about for some time. Generally there’s not a great deal coming through, especially at the younger age groups.
  24. Yes we have and where has that got us? Our hand is weaker now than it was in the summer. At least in the summer we didn’t know how he would react and Holland still had a chance to qualify for the WC (meaning if VvD wanted to go to Russia he’d have to buckle down). With the benefit of hindsight we should have sold when his value was arguably at its highest, but then you set a very dangerous precedence. Ultimately, it just shows what money and Agents have done to the game and another reason why I, and many others I’m sure, are falling out of love with it. Like him or not, you cannnot fault Cortese’s ability to sell players the dream and get them wanting to play for the club.
  25. I don’t think anyone claimed Allardyce was the long term answer, but at least you’re starting to realise he’d have been perfect man to keep us up this season on a short term deal (say 18 months while we clear out all those who don’t want to be here and rebuild). Sometimes you need to take a step back to progress. Something we need at the moment. It’s no surprise that he’s improved Everton (as he has done with every single club he’s managed). For you to claim that Adkins is a better manager is just absolutely ludicrous, and if I’m honest shows your saints bais and lack of football intelligence. Also, BFS’s football is in no way as bad as most make out. Pulis on the other hand......
