  1. to be fair, pretty much week in week out football fans across the country are filmed, escorted and followed by police. It’s done as a preventative tactic. Perhaps people like Lewis Hamilton (and the rest of the black community) should spend his time educating and trying to prevent black on black knife and gang crime. Especially in the capital.
  2. To be honest, I think a large number of them are doing because they don’t have a choice. Comply or be called a racist. Regardless of political views. what has taking the knee actually achieved? For me, It’s a pointless virtual signalling gesture which has been ongoing for so long i hardly even notice them doing it anymore. if players are actually serious about change, why don’t they dig into their pockets to fund education programs. if BLM ‘the movement’ or whatever that is, isn’t linked to the organisation, why not change the name and distance from a far left terror group according the the current president (antifa in the states). I mean if I started a National Socialist movement and named it Nazi, not sure it’d go down too well.

    Danny Ings

He’s not a saints ‘fan’ and never has been. However, he is a local lad who, from what I understand, is enjoying life back ‘home’. that being said, should the right opportunity (he will want to play amd won’t do what he done at Liverpool and be backup) arise for him to leave for a top 6 club, he’ll be off. my suspicion is that he’ll go to a London club or someone commutable from Winchester.
  5. It’s not bizarre at all really. Clearly there is something wrong, all of the evidence suggests it’s not football related. I don’t think anyone has said it’s no problem. It’s not an issue for fans to worry about or probe / speculate on. It’s for the player, club and manager to worry about. Not fans. he’s a young lad with limited experience so would take time to bed in anyway. We’re doing fine without him. Let’s hope he hits the ground running when needed 👍🏻
  6. Comparing what we’ve seen from him in previous seasons he has has been. His calmness and ability on the ball has a massive part to play in why we’re doing so well. He’s certainly no Van Dijk, but he’s been one of most consistent performers this season. 1 bad game (half) against a world class striker in Cavani I can forgive. Anyhow, Bertrand for me, was far worse on Sunday and at fault for the first and the rest of the squad (amd Ralph) didn’t cover themselves in glory. regardless, we’re doing fine this season. Overachieving for the squad we have. Even if Salisu was fit, healthy and ready to play, I don’t think Ralph would pick him due to vestergaards form. Kind of going off on a tangent from the original point of speculation on Salisu. It doesn’t take a burp surgeon to work out (from the posts on here) that there’s an underlying issue that isn’t football related.
  7. Know his current wage package and what he’s willing to accept, do you Matthew?
  8. There’s nothing for us fans to worry about, no. What’s going on within the squad is for the club to be concerned about. we’re doing fine without him atm. Vestergarrd has been brilliant. Don’t know why the Mods haven’t just closed the thread, it’s clear most of the normal and reasonable of us on here understand there is an underlying issue which is best we don’t speculate on here about.
  9. As I understand it, Yep. He’s also had a couple of opportunities to leave, but is settled down here. Id rather have a Long in the squad and around the training ground, with a professional hardworking attitude and wanting to play for club rather than someone like Obafemi or Valery who’s attitude is disgusting for someone who hasn’t achieved (and won’t ever) in the game.
  10. We even give them 6-12 months notice so they can leave/get sacked from their current role and save us a small £ on compensation. it’s why we’re always so relaxed.
  11. I think it’s just that we’re winning the ball higher and quicker and therefore not getting exposed to that ball in behind him.

Yep, you’re spot. 6/8 hours a day is just a ridiculous suggestion and would only result in serious malnutrition and injury, for anyone, let alone someone who is very lean and injury prone anyway. The muscular injuries are a concern though, especially someone with the explosiveness of Moussa. Just look at Owen, who was practically finished by 26/27. However the club have a great sport science department. if he can stay fit he’ll become a top top player. Not sure he‘ll reach Mane level but won’t be far off. We’re certainly a different team with him in it. He’ll be dog for 80 minutes, but will change the game in the 10 where he comes alive. I’d much rather him and not knowing what you’re gonna get, than Redmond who is all too predictable at the moment.
  13. Let’s hope the club have brought a shit ton and lose a load of £ on them (can you see anyone buying one?? Actually, our mongbase I can), and the idiot at the club who thought this was funny loses his job. Pathetic.

Isn’t that also applicable to us though? We could easily spend 100m and hardly improve our squad. I mean we pretty much blew nearly that on Carrillo, hodet, lamina, elyounoussi and Gunn. the difference being, if we get relegated, our value drops significantly. on the basis of us not going to keep Ralph forever, we’d need to spend 100-150m (wisely) minimum to break into top 6 regularly. Imo.
  15. Anyone who thinks we’re more attractive to manage than United are absolutely deluded. However, I don’t think it would be wise for Ralph to jump ship to them. he’s building something here, 100% backing of the board, fans and squad and generally speaking has a young team willing to learn and run through brick walls for him.. will pogba and co do that? Would he be given the time to buy enough players to suit him to turn them around c. 3/4 windows. if he has a brain, which I think he does, he’ll hang around for a season and go to Chelsea, who’ll suit him down to the ground.
  16. Newcastle were very poor today and played completely different to how’d wed have expected, however, one of the best performances I can remember and if we’d been a little slicker in the final 3rd it could have been 5 or 6. Ralph really is a special manager. He’s got every single one of those players giving 100% and whilst not being stand out, being a consistent 7/8 out of 10 week in, week out. the front 4 were all fantastic tonight and dare I say it, we didn’t look like we missed ings in terms of creating chances (Theo and Adams looks like they’d been playing together years) and Djenepo very lively as well. We look a proper outfit, fit sharp and hungry. I’m not one to get carried away as we still Have the big boys to play but With a weak league this year, who knows what could happen if we get a bit of luck - were just as strong as Leicester were when they won it 🤷🏻‍♂️

    Obafemi or Adams?

Given Adams is now a dead cert to start, who do we partner with him? for me, I like the idea of Theo and Adams. I think naturally, Adams is a very similar player to Ings (likes to drop in to the 10 and find space, rather than play off the shoulder), where as I think Theo will naturally play off the last man. Big moment in Theo’s return, imo. The next 4-6 weeks will really determine if he was a worthwhile transfer.

Exactly, coupled with the fact it wouldn’t take significant investment to get Derby to where we are, lower mid - bottom end PL club. Unless Gao lowers his price to around £150m (which won’t happen), there are far more attractive clubs in the lower divisions. The only thing I can realistically say is in our favour is are location and links to London or the docks + the south east is more attractive than the midlands (but I’m not sure that even matters to someone living in the Middle East).

Another club that’ll over take us. We need Gao to sell ASAP amd hope that it’s someone with a bit of cash willing to invest. Unfortunately, I suspect there are more championship clubs who are more appealing than us atm (unless Gao drops his price by 50m...)

Red bull are also apparently interested in Sheffield Wednesday.
  21. I get that and that’s why I said the courts won’t rule in his favour. However, just because it’s the rules, doesn’t make it fair, in my opinion. Allowing votes that have been received after the polls are closed and people know what is required to swing a result is a dangerous game and open to corruption. it’s not hard to ensure that all votes are received before the Election Day (it’s not as if it was a snap election) and counted at the same time.
  22. Not quite true. He wants the courts to prevent votes received after the polling stations closed to not be counted. votes that are received as late as Friday can still be counted, how is that a fair system? regardless, the courts won’t rule in his favour, so it’s a pointless debate, lump on Biden whilst trump is favourite, it’s only going 1 way now and trump knows it. Things are going to get really messy. I wouldn’t be surprised antifa will get the civil war they’ve been craving.
  23. Can’t see us winning this. They’ll have too much pace and power on the counter attack. Their front 3 will cause us real issues. it’ll be a textbook 10 men behind the ball and hit us on the counter and probably win comfortably. We’ve seen it happen time and time again. 0-2
  24. A full back(s) is essential. Ideally one who can cover both sides, so we have budget elsewhere. CM - we’ve literally just signed one. striker - I’d say we’re okay here with the view of Theo up top. Keeper - yep, an area we need to improve, however, unless we shift one or 2 of them, it won’t happen. for me, if we’re up and around the top 6 come January, we need to back Ralph or we’ll lose him like we did Poch / Koeman. I’d be looking at the following as a priority: Fall back - as per above. CB - salisu, will we ever see him? is he ready this season? is he any good? We need an improvement on Stephens, that’s for sure. Attacking Mid - Redmond looks lost, back to the player we have under puel. Slows us down, no end product. I’d like for us to get a real creative player in there who’ll help us break down the teams who sit 10 behind the ball (I.e what Newcastle are going to do, and probably beat us, on Friday) Reality is that we’ll get a full back on loan most likely.
  25. Which is ironically where we’re struggling. There’s a player in there, just not sure he’s suited to the pace of the PL or would be fit enough to keep up with Ralph’s demands. Celtic probably about his level in all honesty.
