The premiership seems the right place for him. When he tore us apart playing for WBA he still looked dreadful in terms of control and passing ability. I'm not sure he has what is required for Spain and Italy in terms of tight control. Raw power and pace is what he offers. The prem has room for that. Not my cup of tea, but he would certainly improve us. He won't be coming here, so it matters not.

Get to ull lad. Beer, food and housing all dirt cheap leaving more money for beer. Seriously don't go for a campus style uni. Go for one in a decent sized city with plenty of nightlife as three years in some out of town uni campus will do your nut in the end, I would imagine. Oh, and employers are all of an age that they know which unis are were polys.

is there a way of making an all red kit worse?

Don't think for a second Johnson was the only poor player tonight. Sterling was totally ineffective, as was Wellbeck. Rooney in the first half was woeful, although I thought he was very good in the second. Sturridge had a decent game and the goal was from great work, but his diving was embarrassing. Jagielka is never international class, ever. Did Henderson and Gerard actually do anything? Maybe the formation restricts them. Ah whatever...I knew we would he ****, it's just the decent display on Saturday that got my hopes up.

You didn't notice him ball watching in the first half and getting away with it big style? You didn't notice him ball watching in the second half and getting away with it bit style? Just because they don't take advantage of your ****ness doesnt mean you weren't ****.

Glen Johnson, **** the ****ety **** off. Even setting up the goal is not enough to stop me venting my pain at seeing that **** in an England shirt. Ball watching useless ****wit. **** off. Skate.

it's a shame Lallana is only seen as being able to play in the wider roles for England. He played in the hole for us last season and as a result was far more effective than he was when asked to play on the left and to track back. He appears to be miles down the pecking order for that central position. It's also a shame that Sterling and Wellbeck, two of our better players on Saturday will be asked to move to fit Wayne into his best role. Personally I didn't think Rooney had a bad game out on the left. I admit he didn't do all that much, but he showed quality in the cross for the goal. I'd be inclined to leave the team as it is except bring in Shaw. That won't happen of course.

Who are these better left backs?
-
With Wellbeck doing pretty well IMO on the right, who then plays left wing?
-
Management by hindsight is easy. Personally I thought Roy picked a very decent starting side. Wellbeck is much criticised, not by me I might add, and he was a real threat along with Sterling. Rooney set up the goal with a gem of a cross for Sturridge, and his decent movement created his own chance. The balance of the side wasn't too bad and we caused Italy so many problems. I thought the subs made sense as the formation was working and we just needed to freshen up the personnel. Rickie is great obviously, but he does drop deep a lot and that would be into an already congested area, so effectively going for Rooney over him for the last 15 is not a crazy decision. The subs did ok and we created a couple of chances. I'm pretty upbeat about the side and the manager. Watching England has been painful for years. Last night seemed very different to me. Get Shaw into that side and I think we can still get out of the group.
-
But Roy swapped an injured Sturridge for Rooney in the striker position. When you need a goal bringing on a different striker is one option, but changing the supply line is another way of getting it.
-
Lallana played more in the hole in the second season so how could he have excelled in that left wing role? Rodriguez played on the left and there were countless times when he ball watched and left Shaw exposed, we just weren't punished often.
-
Could not agree more. A million miles from the displays in South Africa. Hope the other sides sit back and allow us to stroll out from the back then get between their lines like we did last night.
-
I think Rooney is being a little harshly treated when it comes to giving Baines protection. No matter who the player is they are always going to struggle to be right up next to the striker one minute and then standing in front of the left back the next. The formation makes that role very tough. The idea that Lallana will do that better is folly. He struggled big style to track full backs in his first season in the prem when played left wing.

Liverpool FC. Is it time to stop any further deals?
Chez replied to SaintRobbie's topic in The Saints
Yeah, you can never improve your side by buying players from teams below you. -
That 5% rise in season ticket prices, despite the club pocketing an extra £32m in income this year seems to have paid off well then. Wonder how many of those lost season ticket holders will find something else to do and not return when the club need their money most?

Agreed that might be the general thought, but not in Bangu, Rio, he isn't that's for sure. They have erected a statue of Donahoe there. As I understand it Donahoe brought the ball to Rio and 8 months later Miller brought the rule book to São Paulo.
-
Strictly speaking it was Tom Donohoe.

Have you seen Target play? I haven't, but I'd wager he is a massive step down from Shaw. I don't think some fans realise what a player Shaw is. He totally opponents last season and had most on the back foot. Not a chance we will end up better off from his sale.

Not a fan of Sidwell myself. Fulham were weak as **** in the middle and he was right there well off the pace struggling to have any impact on games. Not for me.
-
not sure we can win here. Morgan may feel he would have been straight in if he had been at Arsenal, for example. Now he is in he is going to attract even more attention for the likes of Arsenal. An international for one of the big nations that is not playing champions league football is going to be keenly watched.
